What???? I don't know anything about real estate, especially in TX, but that doesn't sound right. Unless she's still thinking she's getting a $700k house in Texas too?

It depends on what specific town they’re looking in and the value of the school district. I lived in NE Houston for 9 years. The town we were in specifically had higher property taxes but rated #10 schools.

I live in Texas, the Houston area, and yes, we have higher property taxes than most states. However, we don’t have an income tax AND California is also on the list of high property tax states (I think even higher than Texas) so I really don’t know how they can say it would be more to live here unless they want to spend more money??? They really do want a McMansion.

Exactly! They really, REALLY need to stop talking about subjects they know absolutely nothing about! Property taxes are almost DOUBLE in CA, bc the houses are more expensive! They can get an incredible home in Conroe for $350,000. You’re property taxes are based on the assessed value of the home.
So, Rash, pop quiz, who pays more in taxes? The guy who bought a $550,000 house in Temecula, or the guy that bought a $300,000 house in TX? Ffs, GOOGLE!!!
Not having to pay state taxes, is a HUGE plus! That right there is almost reason enough to move. The whole cost of living, $50,000 a yr in Temecula, is similar to making $35,000 in Texas. Gas, food, utilizes, everything is cheaper. The fact that they’re even debating this move when they clearly cannot afford to live in CA, blows my mind.
Why is her mom moving? Did she sell her house in CA? Could that be where their mysterious 20% downpayment came from? Which, btw, doesn’t even matter. Neither one of them can show proof of income. No bank is going to loan money to them based off of:
“Well, we like, have a YT channel, with like, 200,000 subs. We get, like, 45,000 views a vlog...but, I can usually get double that if I increase my clickbait or buy more views! But, I’ll do whatever gets me MY perfect IG-worthy home, bc I sure as hell didn’t get my IG-worthy daughter.....yet! Mwhahahah!”
