They are either just drumming up views talking about selling when they really aren’t or they are downsizing because of financial reasons. And I have a feeling the houses they viewed today were just for the video because those houses were really small and not their style at all. Downgrades definitely!

Oh wow they have to be downsizing for financial reasons. I figured if they moved into a smaller home they’d be moving out of state to somewhere like Hawaii. Staying close to where they are just downsizing can’t be anything other than financial hardships. We know how over the top they are with money so this has to be killing them to do. Of course they will act like it’s exactly what they want.

I was curious to see what they would show while house hunting. I don't think they would ever show a home they were serious about, they didn't share any of the house hunting process the last go round and were very tight lipped about it. Nothing they showed in that video rivals their current property. I figured if they end up with something smaller and cheaper in their current area, that's indicative of a financial motivation behind the move. The homes they showed could be far from what they end up purchasing, but if that's anything to go off of, they are definitely downgrading. The only other option is that they're looking for a fixer upper that they plan to gut. I don't know how far away his "studio" is, but is it possible they want to be closer to this "second business" they love to talk about?

That last pool she showed is so much more beautiful than their current pool though. I haven’t really watched at all in a long time, but the snippets I’ve seen of their “pool remodel” is heinous. It’s horribly ugly. It’ll definitely be a big deterrent when trying to sell their house.

Yep! One doesn’t go from a $1.2 million dollar home to a $877k home without a financial reason. If it wasn’t financial, they would look at homes in the same price range with more bedrooms. They can’t afford the property and that gated community anymore. C&K are already there. Will E&J be next?

Jared’s hair is going to be a whole lot greyer before Ellie ever even considers selling her dream home. The only move Ellie will consider is an upgrade. For all B&M’s faults I do think they are more responsible and smarter with money, and want to preserve their disposable income as much as possible. I do think having the money to continue to support the Hollister entourage is a huge priority.

I bet this is something they all talked about on summer vacay.. either they don’t wanna end up like Katie and Cullen or they are already in the same position which wouldn’t surprise me. The downfall of family vlogging is in full force. We all predicted this but it’s sooner than I thought. Two years is nothing in the scheme of things, I wonder if any of them saved at all.

I think the DBEJCK vacay was an eye opener for them all that a collab is no longer a back pocket sure thing option to bring in extra views and grow subs. Reality hit, and hit HARD.

I dont like a single thing about their home. It has one of the worst layouts I've ever seen, and the pool is an eyesore. Their house would not for one second make me look twice if I was casually browsing homes online or whatever. There is just nothing special about it to me. And sure they have a ton of land, but they don't even use it lmfao. It is completely wasted space.
I really hate everything about their house and this isn't even me being salty hahaha.

Anyway, if the house choices in the vlog is in any way indicative of what they're looking for, then its OBVIOUS they are downsizing, and it will obviously be for financial reasons.

Their house was ok when they first got it but the decor that they’ve added with the tacky pool just doesn’t make sense for the Spanish style home. They tried to be hipster, but they live in a traditional looking home. Their grounds are pretty but they destroyed it with that monstrosity of a pool.

Especially because when they bought the house they are in now, they said that the minute they saw it, they knew it was their "forever home". It's how they justified all the style renos. Because those renovations with the shiplap and barn doors didn't really add value to the house. It just made it a mish-mash of styles because Missy wanted to be "cool" and took Hannah from SlyFox's decorating advice.
I think they sank too much money into that studio, thinking in their deluded way that Bryan was going to make tons of money off his music. And their views are dropping, and their "besties" are struggling. Hopefully they saw the light before things got bad, but I doubt it. I can see them looking at C&K and E&J, saying "That can't happen to us! We're too popular!"
I would like to think they're being proactive, but I doubt it. They may be making bank still, but they spend it. They have a bunch of people on their payroll, and bought Mimi and Papa's house (after dumping at least $20 grand into that monstrosity backyard). They've been acting as if the gravy train will never chug to a stop.

I like the kitchen and great room, but that's about it. I love big kitchens with lots of counter space and an island. I have no counter space, and what my great aunt called a "one butt kitchen". But the rest of the house, with the exception of the outdoor kitchen they added (and hardly use except for the fridge), their house is meh.

So much wasted money.. we called it every be purchase. The Armani butcher block going with them to the new house? .
The boys are not going to remember this $$$train ride. They need to put out a yt business series and let these tweens know the truth about having a YT career.
Save your $$$ for when your kids are older and you can make lasting memories.

Not just the house upgrads... What about all the friends they "bought" .. not much to show for that.

They've lost family (Johnson's) and longtime friends (June's parents) in the last year. Something is up.. and it's Ben up for a while.

I think they all talked about it on the vacation. I watched k+c sit down. I thought they were crazy buying that house. But it's the YT flex game.

I think what all of these YTers are missing is people want HONESTY! If you’re downsizing because of financial reasons, say so. If you don’t feel like you want baby #3...say so! If you’re having marriage or friend issues, say so! Them being REAL is what drew me in as an adult viewer. I could connect with them. I could sympathize with them. I could laugh with them. This “everything is perfect” attitude draws people AWAY because it’s not relatable.

I like to think M&B handle their money better than other family vloggers but I do think they poured money into the studio. I think they had a unrealistic idea of how Bryan’s career would go. Now reality has set in. The studio isn’t a total loss though. It IS a business that they could sell in the future if it comes to it. The only thing that worries me is the boys. So many people know who they are. They constantly have people coming up and asking for pictures. What are they going to do about school? Private school is EXPENSIVE! How are they going to continue to afford that while their YouTube career goes further down the drain. I hope one of them goes back to school or something because not many jobs will support their lifestyle considering they’re only work experience is waitressing, photography, and YouTube

I really don’t believe they’re having any sort of financial problems. They may not be minting money like they were 1-2 years ago, but they’re hardly floundering.
Social blade still has the earning up to 2 million a year. Which, even if you took a low estimate of around 250k-500k, combined with the sponsorships they’re still pulling in, they’re not in any position to start worrying.
I also think that they either bought their house outright, or they owe very little on it. It’s an investment property. Their backup million when YT dries up for good.

I’ve noticed that selling and downsizing homes is trendy right now for influencers. The Bumps either are just getting in on the trend for views, or they really do just want something different. They’ve never been happy with what they have for very long.

What if they're cashing in on C&K speaking up about selling, etc just to get the adult viewers back in and they're pretending to be house hunting without ever having the intention of selling? They pull one over on the viewers, still get the $$$ from views without having to spend a cent?
