They will never spill just like they will never acknowledge reading this board which is why Katie pointed out Kelley in her pic;). I knew that was a different blond because Katie (and her family) are on the shorter side, and the other blond lady is quite tall. They are so ridiculous about Brooks' speech issue. Better to start now so he is on track in a few years then to be petty publicly. Instead of using his speech issue as a positive parental platform to uplift other parents they just focus on saving Katie's face. They already live in a state with the worst school system in America. Why make it any harder on him? He seems like a bright, perceptive child Katie. He just needs help getting his words out. Get over yourself because sadly many parents go through far worse!

I just realized Katie blocked me on insta...all I did was like a comment asking if they had considered speech therapy for Brooks! It wasn’t even a mean or snooty comment!

I will never understand why all of these yt parents are unable to receive advice. I also think that they are like a lot of other parents and associate a child's speech abilities to their overall intelligence. Which is crazy because my oldest has a speech delay and has been tested through our early intervention program extensively and actually tests way above average with his cognitive skills. I think they are embarrassed because they got so much praise as parents because Gaines speech developed so quickly and now Brooks not on the same track. I think it is embarrassing that she was once a professional within the field of evaluating children and chooses to ignore her own child's potential needs.

Actually for being a stutterer Brooks speaks darn good. My younger brother is a stutterer and he didn’t start to really talk until he was four. Each kid is different on when they start to talk and how well they talk. My kids are a perfect example of that. I had three who started talking when they were 5 months old and were talking in sentences when they were a year. Then there were my other two who started walking when they were 10 months old and didn’t start to talk until around their first birthday. I had three babies who wanted their opinions to be known and two babies who wanted to be mini tornadoes, lol. Guess which ones do better in school? If you guessed the mini tornadoes you’re correct. All of my kids do great in school but my oldest son and oldest daughter do the best. I’ll tell you what like Brooks they’re both quite the characters and they keep me on my toes.

After watching the vlog I suspect (not a pro, just my observation from having worked in pediatric public health) that Brooks may have high functioning Aspergers. The ear plugging due to noise sensitivity, the aversion to bright light, the spastic movements and his distaste for large, loud crowds are pretty big clues. He displays many of the attributes. K&C only confirmed that he is not Autistic. If that is the case I hope they are working with specialists right now so he does well. The sooner they start therapy the better. My heart goes out to that poor kid. Katie seems to blame him for things that are not his fault, she needs to just drop it already. Oddly enough amongst all of the me, me, me stuff even Gaines seems more protective over Brooks. She is probably aware that something is off.

Madelyn is going to become exactly like her Mom and Aunt who expect a certain lifestyle and won't settle for anything less. I was so surprised in her back to school clothing haul how snobby she was (and how much $$$ they dropped)...they are seriously #richpeopleproblems

What I don't like about the thumbnail is that even on his birthday she isn't with him he isn't in his mom's arms, but she is posing proudly with her princess.

Brooks didn't like the party he said afterwards in the car, because he had slept too shortly he said. Katie gave her own spin to it, I don't know if I can trust her anymore, squeezing everything into her theory, and said that he had felt stressed-out a couple of times because of the light. These laymen, just because Brooks asked to dim the lights one time, they conclude he is hypersensitive to light and hence stimuli. Even if he is, then why did you "organize" his party in the park, and why not have a nice party at home and invite kids from the neighborhood or his class? It's the second year in row they are fixing his birthday at last minute and doing it outside, and I mean this in contrast to the exaggerated parties for Gaines at home. His are too less and hers are too much. Even the park they hadn't planned well and in advance. Katie told that she thought that coming 1 hour early would be enough, but how come another mother knew to tell you then that you should be there way earlier. So they were too late and didn't have a table anymore.... And only last minute she bought presents. Brooks didn't want certain balloons, Katie had to push it, I knew it, the film was cut so it seemed at first she had listened to Brooks but fortunately later you could see a woman from the shop blowing up Katie's balloons, she had to push her own taste pink and green for her boy's birthday and can't let it just be all about him independent from her.

There was no preparation and no emotional investment in Brooks' party, compared to the vast preparation that goes into Gaines' parties. And there was no cleaning up and again emotional investment after Brooks' party. Just like last year.

I don't blame Brooks, his party had no ambiance. It felt restless en empty imo, maybe because of the restless filming I don't know, but Brooks unwrapped all his presents sort of alone without any kids, even Gaines wasn't there unfortunately, would have been good for her character building to be confronted with, but Brooks was unpacking his presents with only adults around him. Grandberry was sweet and caressed his hair. Of course Gaines had to be filmed when she was unpacking her non-birthday present with her ungrateful spoiled and almost angry face.

And of course Katie had to put him in his 'treatment' swing they coincidentally also had in the park, with his eyes covered this time... And this also had to be in his birthday video. Brooks probably is sensing that he is being treated as abnormal or feeling punished maybe, depending on when and how Katie pulls him away to put him in the swing and because of his covered eyes. And we don't know his reason for partly not liking it. But it wasn't really discrete of Katie to start about 'being stressful and dismissing he said he was tired, she could have just left it at 'yeah he's tired, both are tired'. You should have seen Gaines' face, being tired would have been a kind explanation.

The people at the party also didn't seem to like it and were there more for the obligation. Kelly's kids were there. And right after Brooks' party they went to another party which seemed much warmer and with ambiance, given by parents with a feeling of responsibility and not too neglectful to refuse to clean up afterwards. And the house has to be sold is no excuse. You did the same last year. And no family photo with your baby boy you gave birth to...?

Katie said Brooks doesn't have autism but I highly doubt she has actually had him tested by a professional. When my son started the early intervention process at 2 he was observed by an occupational therapist, speech pathologist and an intervention specialist. I feel like if Katie just brushes off the possibility of autism because he is so typical as opposed to the behavior of more severe autistic children. There are many children with autism who are fairly typical and it is not always super obvious. It just bothers me how they claim he has these issues yet have failed to get him evaluated and get proper therapy. I also agree that with others who have said Katie is cold towards Brooks and often ignores his need for attention. What's crazy is from what we see Gaines seems like the more high maintenance of the two children. Brooks is the little sweetheart that genuinely seems happy for all those around him and seems to have a very giving personality. Gaines has become a spoiled brat that by Katie's admission still has issues playing independently.

I wouldn't put it past Katie to say Brooks doesn't have autism just based on her observations and her own education, without having had him evaluated. It's a spectrum. A lot of professionals don't even use "autism" and "Asperger's" anymore, because it is a spectrum. Not every kid with autism is Rain Man. And she should know that. And having him evaluated means admitting (at least to herself) that she's not such an expert. We have several kids in my family who are on the spectrum, and they all have different strengths and different things that are harder for them.

Agreed, you would think that since these evals were “ part of her job” she would know the importance of early intervention. He could also benefit from occupational therapy for his sensory input needs as well.

Ironically I have a cousin in the Boston area who is a psychologist. He had a private practice for years in which he worked in tandem with Psychiatrists/ Psychopharmacologists to medicate patients. He switched over and now does Autism/Aspergers spectrum syndrome testing (along with other learning delays/issues) for the Massachusetts School System. At this point he has been testing kids for nearly 15 years. It is a specialized field he had to work towards even though he had years of complex clinical experience. I believe he had to get extra certification and training. My cousin is in his 60's, so obviously he has worked in the field for decades. Katie is nowhere near his level of education, training or experience. She has no place or right to give her son an assessment. First and foremost because that is her son, so it would be unethical to rule out something so serious. They are a farce if they make decisions without outside professionals.
