I had to unfollow her on IG. I get it's her page and she can post whatever she wants but I don't want Maeve's pictures to keep popping up in my feed. It's disturbing to me and honestly makes me feel nauseous when I see them. I'm not coming down on her loss but I don't want to see a deceased child CONSTANTLY.

I'll rely on you fine ladies to keep me updated here on the goings-on.

Yess, Joan “Special Snowflake” Baldwin is back at it again. I bet a post about her “all in all thoughths” about how they shouldnt call their babies rainbow is coming soon even after “she had some insight from other loss parents”. Who is she to say that for example a couple who had a failed IVF transfer or something, where they weren’t considered “pregnant” shouldn’t view their embryo as a soul/baby lost. If they want to call a baby their rainbow, let them, they went through enough suffering Joan, you should know...

Joan has no reason to create all the fuss over the term "rainbow baby." It's just a term, not a medical designation. Anyone can use it. Just like she calls Vera a "little sister."

I'm seeing red over her opinion. Again I state, who does she think she is?! It's like she's the president of loss and infertility and is opening up the floor to the underlings for "opinions" that she immediately vetoes. She's barely into being a parent right now!! She doesn't have a CLUE! I'm sorry, I am not in the mood for her ridiculousness and I'd still smack her in the face if I saw her today.

Joan says she doesn't want to judge, but she's judging. Losing Maeve was worse for her than infertility, but for women who have had infertility and not a loss, the infertility itself could be the worst for them. It's not a competition.

Also, some of my life is way too similar to theirs. My daughter was born this year and her birthdate is right between Maeve's and Vera's. My husband's and my name both begin with J. And John's birthday is today and so is my husband's. Meh. Since I've had my baby I've felt more compassion for Joan as I just can't imagine losing a child and I understand how precious they are. Then she does something like this to try to prove she's above everyone else...

Posting the dictionary definition of ‘rainbow baby ‘ is so pretentious. Why did she want to hear from people who have experienced loss but believe it’s okay to use the phrasing if you haven’t lost a child? She is a ridiculous human being.

Maybe use your time organising extra physio at home with Vera instead of starting a hypocritical rant about her pain and experiences?

Joan, you are not the only person in the world to lose a child. It’s incredibly sad, but you need to create an identity for yourself outside of “loss mom”. It’s becoming sad - even on a day meant for celebrating the birth of healthy, happy babies, she has to remind everyone of her loss and her pain. It’s never ending.

I can't believe she actually used the words "long haul baby" to describe someone who has had infertility issues for a long time but not had a loss or miscarriage. That is disgusting and insensitive to millions of women who have unexplained infertility but do end up getting pregnant. That must be a horrible thing to go through and no one, especially Joan, should lessen their storm. They can call their baby a rainbow if they wish. Their pain should be empathised with too.

So she’s posted her blood results with a long drawn out post. Cue the pain olympics!

People are commenting gentle suggestions like “don’t get discouraged, there’s always embryo adoption”. Based on Joan’s responses, I’d guess that’s not on her list of acceptable answers.

She’s also trying to blame stress (car accident, Vera teething, controversial topics) for her numbers. But didn’t she get her blood drawn BEFORE all that started?? I’m so confused.

I gotta say this, forgive me for feeding the troll: NONE of us are "insulting a mother's grief". All of us feel bad for what she went through. Nobody should have to go through that.
But. She dismisses other women's grief. She actually told a woman who had lost a young child (3-4) that she should be thankful she had the years she did to be with her child. Because she, the gold medalist in the pain Olympics, didn't get any time with her child. It's things like that that we question. And barely being able to say anything good about Vera without mentioning Maeve. She couldn't be around babies before Vera was born, but she takes her to the IVF clinic, not even thinking about how triggered she would have been had someone brought a baby to the clinic when she was going through it.

Nobody is dismissing her grief. Just her self absorbed behavior and seeming lack of empathy.
