Re: 8 Passengers : The Dementia Years | Part #12
in the school morning routine shari is seen counting how many grapes she is putting in her bag...
she also only allows herself to have rice, chicken, or turkey for meals, nothing else.
girl is in dangerous territory, you DO NOT have to be restrictive when you are an athlete, that is bull.

Shari needs help. Counting calories and restricting what you eat is not healthy, and when you do it so often that it becomes routine and progresses to the point of counting how many grapes/etc. you allow yourself to eat, it can be extremely unhealthy. Im not saying that Shari should go back to eating crap like Ruby does, I think it's great that she's eating healthy. It's the restriction I have a problem with. She's 16 and still growing so there should be no reason to restrict how much food she eats. Ruby needs to intervene or something before it becomes an issue to the point where she's not eating enough.

In Shari's routine video, she talks about measuring peanut butter so she doesn't "overeat" and "blow her whole day." It's easy to not "overeat" and just eyeball how much pb you're using on toast without actually measuring it. It's not safe and sad to think that she's putting so much energy into her food and eating habits at this age.iiarch wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2019 6:03 pm Shari needs help. Without getting into specifics and the fact that we don’t diagnose personality disorders in children, I feel like Chad is never really happy, is starved for attention, and seems withdrawn at times. We all know about his troubles with school. Shari is also starved for attention. Her obsessive personality gives her a one-track mind which can be healthy or unhealthy depending on what it is focused on, but I really think she is headed for trouble with her food restrictions and exercise regimen. The control issues at 16 are deep. Eve doesn’t seem to be able to hold attention/focus or be at the level expected of a 6-year-old. Her affect and emotions are strange at times. All of them are pretty withdrawn from what we see for being “kids.” Abby and Julie seem to be the most normal to me. I think Russel just has a lot of energy.Kattiness Everdeen wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2019 5:33 pmAny chance you can share the "clear signs" Chad is displaying without any diagnosing going on? Actually what you notice with all the kids would be really interesting.Psych17 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 18, 2019 3:04 pm Long time lurker. Kept coming back because the dementia years title was so funny! Where to start?!?! What in the HELL has happened to this family?!?! When I used to watch they all woke up at 5:30am had scripture played their instruments did all their chores and were not allowed phones!! I have no words for the Chad situation so I will leave that.
As a psychiatrist I am sincerely worried for Shari. As obnoxious as she is, her compulsive personality and current eating/exercise habits are a disastrous combination. She’ll be off to camp next. I don’t want to speculate on why Chad is there but I think there are clear signs.
I wanted to agree with the poster who questioned why Eve is infantalized. I hate how they always call her “Evieeeee” and encourage her pouting before saying she needs to stop pouting. It’s funny because when they did a Q&A video, so many assumptions came in that there was “something wrong” with every child in except her. I thought there was something wrong with her! Again, clear signs. She does not seem to be up to par with a 6-year-old. Poor Julie is stuck so much in the middle and how true that she was up cleaning before dawn at “Evie’s” age.
How in the world can you expect a 6-year-old to brush his or her own teeth, pack lunch, get ready, and admonish them for having NINE cavities?!
Someone please tell me what the hell Ruby does all day long. It certainly doesn’t involve a calendar or a planner.

Coming from the girl who lied about a hit and run, can't stay in the lines on the highway because she can't see them, wears airpods while driving, leaves the engine running while the car is in the garage, and intentionally stops short when she thinks the person behind her is too close.....

I honestly don't get some of Ruby's fashion choices (or the ones she makes for the kids). Sometimes I have to remind myself that she's only a few years older than me, because it sometimes looks like she stepped out of a time machine from the 90's.Lolislol26 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 4:33 pm Eve’s socks and shoes couldn’t be better.

Re: 8 Passengers : The Dementia Years | Part #12
Ruby's back at it again with the comments about Chad. She's stating that many people are saying that she shouldn't let Chad be "responsible" because he's just a kid. If she's refering to what people are saying on this forum and in Instagram comments, that is not exactly what people are saying.
Yes, make sure you raise responsible teenagers, but, there is a difference between being responsible and making them feel like a prisoner in their own home. Teens need to explore and learn about the World. Ruby is raising sheltered kids and the real world is gonna hit them hard soon enough.

That didn’t look like stew to me. Stew is rich and thick and hearty. That shit looked like watery undone soup. Omg and they are selling a cook book!? LMAO

And Ruby is writing a PARENTING book. Anyone who would look to the Griffiths for cooking or parenting advice deserves what they get. Unfortunately, it's the innocent kids who get the shaft.Catface2 wrote:That didn’t look like stew to me. Stew is rich and thick and hearty. That shit looked like watery undone soup. Sometimes I wonder if it's that a. YouTubers deliberately misunderstand comments that critique them in any way, oriiarch wrote: ↑Sun Sep 22, 2019 8:13 am Ruby's back at it again with the comments about Chad. b. if they actually just don't get it at all, or
c. if they see anything that isn't effusive praise and assume it's hate.
Maybe it's a combination of all of the above? Anyway, it's kind of how I ended up here. I wanted to be able to write honest, constructive comments about vlogs without being accused of being a "hater" or being deliberately misunderstood. Part of me hopes some of these vloggers do read here from time to time to see that many of us are offering decent observations and that it's not all about hating them. I do kind of hope, though, that their children don't read here!

Re: 8 Passengers : The Dementia Years | Part #12
If Ruby didn't want opinions on her life and family then she really should not be making youtube videos. I think it's ironic that she said Chad needs to be responsible and be responsible for his choices, he made the choice not to be 'humble', and to want to go to school with his friends, and I am pretty sure he'd have 'lived' with that choice. She was the one who sent him away to learn to be responsible because she didn't like his choices, so hopefully the comments will make her look in the mirror, properly not read loads of books.

Re: 8 Passengers : The Dementia Years | Part #12
I feel sorry for the Franke children, Ruby is a controlling nutjob and Kevin isn't much better. Putting Chads personal business on YouTube is not acceptable at all, they should have taken some time off of YouTube to deal with their family and Chad but I can see where Ruby and Kevin didn't want to lose the income that the rest of their little moneymakers bring in for them. Sending your child away to the desert for weeks and weeks on end with is nothing is child abuse. That is piss poor parenting at its finest. They have $$$$ and didn't want to do it face to face with him so they are paying someone else to do try and do it for them. Next year it will be Shari in a facility because of her issues with calories and exercise. The video "Was this a mistake" is cringeworthy there is no reason that house should look like a pigsty, birthday and baptism are one-day events, what does Ruby do all-day while the kids are at school sit on her ass? The kids can also pick up after themselves. I can see the kids marrying a young age to get away from those two nitwit parents.
Re: 8 Passengers : The Dementia Years | Part #12
I don't know if this is just because I'm not a parent but I have a huge issue with shipping tour kid off to some camp for months. Sending your kiss to daycare is one thing because some parents literally can't be come for the kids because they're making a living but to me sending your kid away is a whole different thing. It kind of just seems like lazy parenting to me like if Chad is having mental health issues send him to an actual therapist not to some camp where he's in the middle of the desert hiking for days on end. Maybe he actually needs to be on anti depressants or adhdeda if his mental health is so bad he's failing school.
Sidenote: my brain automatically went to the lgbtq community when ruby said that there was rhetoric out there she doesn't agree with in yesterday's video

Who puts kids' clothes into washing machine without emptying the pockets?
What is the truth in this (Ruby )
The truth is...
Ruby can totally blame herself for ruining the load of laundry.
Rule number one doing laundry is to check the pockets!

8 Passengers : The Dementia Years | Part #12
I know this is an older post...but Kevin is a college professor, right? So you think he would know the past tense of, “sneak,” Is, “snuck.”
“A fat squill sneaked into chads food supply.” Is bad grammar. So that leads me to believe maybe Ruby is running Kevin’s insta? He should just know better. And we all know ruby had the worst grammar & spelling.
Also. It makes me so, so sad that chad had to be sent away from his insane family to a, “camp,” (that most would consider a punishment.) to be happy. Being away from the family is, “the happiest he’s ever been.” That doesn’t say very much for their home life. And ruby is the last person I’d buy a parenting book from. Poor chad.
