Re: Knorpp and South: Manic Megan’s Pinterest Palace | Part 2
To continue the thought from the last thread about how nothing in that article really shows how "impressive" those kids are (not that they aren't, just not like their mom says-- none of this is meant as a slam at the kids), my brother made jewelry summers when he was home from Cal Tech. He worked in a local small factory. He made some beautiful stuff. But he also kept up with his education. He graduated from Cal Tech. He's going to retire in a few years to a paid off home in a beach town.
They talk about the kids going to college. How do colleges accept the "unschooled"? Megan sounds like college is a given for the kids. How about SAT's? Transcripts?

I can’t see her shelling out bucks for college for all of her kids. Even with scholarships and the good money they have now, they would be strapped. No, all her kids’ interests have nothing to do with needing a degree. At least the interests that Megan has decided for them.
Photographer
Chef
Hairdresser
Jewelry maker
Author
Etc.
Meg has a master plan. Adoption was her hobby and then all of her other hobbies took over. Now she has to actually pay for college?
Heck no. Let’s find something else you enjoy doing (at least for now) and make that your lifelong dream that you must turn into a successful career.
Absolutely not saying those aren’t good careers, by any means. It’s just very difficult to make money to support a large family. And you gotta be REALLY AMAZING at those things to make it big. But it will take little or no contribution from Mom and Dad to get you started. She pushes this on them. Win. Win for Meggy.

I think it's pretty normal for parents to see the best in their kids, and talk them up, but to go so far as to say they are all geniuses who could walk into any college campus and succeed is a bit of an overstatement, to say the VERY least.
Those kids will struggle if they were out on their own, but with a church like LDS, they will never have to find out. There is always someone to step in and take over.

You can support yourself as a chef or hairstylist. But the rest? Author? Jewelry maker? Photographer? Those are difficult to make a living doing unless you really are amazing, or connected, or both. And as has been said, she is talking about what the kids like doing NOW. Interests change. Kids change their minds about what they want to do constantly. I sure did. My son is 23 and still doesn't know what he wants to do for the long term. But he's supporting himself, so as long as he's ok, I'm not worried. When he was little, he wanted to be a Navy SEAL. He's been through several ideas since then-- RN, teacher, journalist... I don't know why Megan thinks that just because the kids are into something now, they should make a career out of it.Care2Share wrote:I can’t see her shelling out bucks for college for all of her kids. Not to mention, and she does this constantly, it’s tacky to reduce people let alone your own children to ONE interest as if that’s their whole personality. She never talks about the kids’ wide range of interests, it’s literally Pearl-who-likes-jewellery and Esther-who-likes-hair. Like are they even allowed to have a second interest? Probably not since any more investments would require Megan sacrifice money from her hoarder fund.
Re: Knorpp and South: Manic Megan’s Pinterest Palace | Part 2
This morning Megan posted on instagram story with a new house book.... “Atomic Ranch: design ideas for stylish ranch homes.” The other day she posted how this how was going to be tiny style house, not a gigantic homestead, but previously she wanted a French cottage with a library and cows. Then on YouTube she posted about her new mid century table and chairs, mid-century sliding doors, and she also just bought that old ugly yellow couch that looks Victorian, but now according to a new Pinterest board she has a “new direction.” This new direction consists of mid century ranches that are NOTHING like the cottages/homesteads she was wanting.... I’m so confused. She is wasting so much money on stuff for the new house when she doesn’t even know what she wants.
Megan if you’re reading this please calm down and wait to buy stuff till you have a floor plan and start building the house. It’s giving me a heart attach to watch.

Her Pinterest palace is going to be a hot mess, just like her mind. Poor Mike.. they are going to wind up losing so much money on her whims when she changes her mind every week on what they want to build.Ellawitt wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 5:48 am This morning Megan posted on instagram story with a new house book.... “Atomic Ranch: design ideas for stylish ranch homes.” The other day she posted how this how was going to be tiny style house, not a gigantic homestead, but previously she wanted a French cottage with a library and cows. I honest to goodness think that they were architect shopping and they FINALLY listened to probably the last one because they kept hearing the same thing over and over (she posted the plural of architect in her FB post-"we met with architects") and finally heard "what you want is going to cost $_______ insert unreasonable amount here...or "what you want can't be built because of code." Or something similar...
Or, the architects refused to work with them because what they were describing like doesn't or can't reasonably exist. Also, lets not forget that any architect that takes the project will be associated with the end result so I wouldn't be surprised to learn that some might have even told them that they can't or won't work with them for fear of hurting their professional reputation.

Yea, I’m not sure what to make of Mike any more. He enables her and panders to her, but at the same time he likes that she is dependent on him. It suits him.IHateCilantro wrote:I think Mike is a narcissist just like her. But hes is covert.

Watching the latest vid. Meggie linked the Penthouse where they stayed in N. Myrtle and declared that it was "REALLLLLLY reasonably priced. I would love to live in a world where $171 per night is reasonably priced. We have stayed in suites in several touristy places for $100 or less per night. I guess when you have 143 people in your family, everything is inflated, especially when you would otherwise stay in a normal hotel with occupancy limits and would have to reserve 3+ rooms to accommodate so many people. For those of us with average size families though, $171 is NOT reasonable.

Why in the world would you post a pic like this of your teenage son? I thought Mormons were really big on modesty. Guess that goes out the window when it involves exploiting your kids for money?

For a place that fits that many people, and has that much room, I can’t knock the cost. I would consider it reasonable for my family of 5 just because the extra space. There are cheaper options, but being cramped into a small hotel room with a single bathroom and no space to cook and keep costs down that way, we would spend far more eating out than what we would save by snagging a $90 room.SNT41007 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 9:56 am Watching the latest vid. I not sure. Both of their identities are too closely intertwined with each other. Neither seems to have any real sense of identity outside of the other.IHateCilantro wrote:Would you say, that without her, he has no identity?MervelllaB wrote: ↑Thu Oct 10, 2019 9:44 amYea, I’m not sure what to make of Mike any more. I’m not criticising the Mormon church, but perhaps that’s what happened when people are not encouraged to be individuals.
