Re: the kids having their own rooms. am I imagining or has she said before that she would rather them share because they're less tempted to do forbidden things that happen when teenage boys are left alone? I feel like that's common in Mormonism

I don't know if it's all Mormons, or just YT ones. Colette Butler used to say that women had an obligation to dress modestly because they need to "protect men from thinking bad thoughts". Then her husband cheated on her.
That whole thing is insulting to both men and women. Men aren't mindless sex machines. Boys aren't either. It's so ridiculous.

This is interesting. I didn't know it was against the rules, especially since there is a diagnosis assigned to Megan in the very title this thread. "Manic."Kate wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2019 11:59 am Can we please stop diagnosing people with FDIA? Each year every YouTuber on this board has the same diagnosis: it used to be that every child had Autism, then every mother had narcissistic personality disorder, when Shane Dawson's videos about Logan Paul's sociopathic tendencies popped up suddenly every YouTuber was a sociopath.
I understand that our own personal experiences coupled with Gypsy Rose's story blowing up may have opened our eyes to FDIA but the misinformation spread about FDIA has led to many false diagnoses.
We haven't evaluated Meg. We can discuss the treatment of her children without suggesting a diagnosis. It's against the rules to diagnose people. If you see any diagnosing on another thread please let me know. Thanks.

I dont think anyone here was legitimately diagnosing Megan of anything. At least I personally wasn’t, I agree it’s quite annoying when people see certain traits in someone and they automatically start listing off illnesses and things. But I dont see harm in comparing “Hey megan has really erratic behavior, she can’t sit down, she changes her mind non stop, she does xyz & it kind of resembles this xyz illness” if thats an issue please make it known. Never knew that FDIA is against the rules, as mentioned the name of this thread kind of gives me other ideas. But I’m not against the thread title at all. Overall, I personally am not going to go around and tell people “Hey, Megan from Knorrp and South has xyz illness, it was said in the thread, so it must be true!”Kate wrote:Yeah, I let the title slide because describing someone's behavior as manic doesn't necessarily = a diagnosis, in my mind. However, if anyone disagrees I would be willing to change it.SNT41007 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 12, 2019 12:30 pmThis is interesting. I'll be honest, as a mod, it's difficult to know when to draw a line between someone being descriptive and someone diagnosing. (Example: calling someone narcissistic could be talking about a trait versus diagnosing someone with narcissistic personality disorder.) I'll admit that I thought the title was humorous! Perhaps that clouds judgement slightly?
The line isn't as blurred when someone suggested a specific disorder - and not something that could be perceived as a behavioral trait. Does that make sense?
I am open to hearing suggestions about where that line should be placed. The main reason why I chose to put a cap on the FDIA diagnosing is because I've spoken about it in several threads.

Everything I say on this forum, thread, any other thread is all for shits and giggles personally. I dont say things with malicious intent, nor do I talk about these people in my daily life. I hope no one takes me 100% serious, or thinks I live and breathe to talk about YT families. Im mostly just venting and talking crap to be honest. I do not know these people and I can only make assumptions and pass judgement about what I see online that THEY post. & you know what they say about assuming!

I actually think they have the opposite of FDIA, and border more on neglect than anything. I personally like the thread title and don't wish/push to change it. One commonality is certain....this family is a train wreck. You just can't look away. Golden boy leaves on Tuesday. Shit is about to get real with babysitter numero uno flying the coop.

If things continue the way they are with typhoon, Elijah might find himself going nowhere on Tuesday.

So true about the Duggars! I had forgotten about them. I hesitate to talk about traits in Mormons in particular because I don't think it's fair to paint an entire religion with one brush, and I know there are Mormons in some of these threads who are as appalled as the rest of us by the behavior of some of the representatives of their faith on YT.Kryptonite wrote:I've noticed that trend among the Mormon YouTubers, too.
Yesssss! It's seems that the uber religious men who need protecting are always the ones who cheat (ahem, Shay, Sam and Nia, Duggars, etc.) Perhaps it has nothing to do with women! Gasp. Imagine that!lmmomSD wrote:I don't know if it's all Mormons, or just YT ones. So thanks for bringing up people who aren't LDS. And the Duggars are just as bad with making the young women wear long skirts and cover themselves even when swimming. I get that some of them believe that they need to cover up because their bodies are for themselves and their partner. That's fine. But this whole "we have to protect the men from themselves" is such bullshit. Shay cheated. Josh Duggar cheated and molested his sisters (I think more than one, but not positive). Bringing men and women up to believe that men just "can't help themselves" is unfair to both genders.
Personal, so feel free to scroll by: my son is 23, and he _listened_ to me when he was growing up. Apparently he listened to things I said to my friends, and things I told my daughter about body autonomy and consent. Because he gets it. And we have not had a lot of actual sit down "we're going to talk about uncomfortable subjects" conversations. He picked it up listening to me all his life. He understands the idea of consent. And he treats everyone with respect, except his dad, but that's another issue, and was earned.
Anyway, it just makes me twitch to see these people who actually have a platform spewing this nonsense. People like Megan and especially the Duggars and Shaytards, whose whole brand was built on the "big happy family" have no business telling anyone else how to dress or slut-shaming anyone. Ever.

Re: Knorpp and South: Manic Megan’s Pinterest Palace | Part 2
Also, not teaching your children about sex education is doing more harm than anything imo. Older generations (that i know of) have put such a stigma on the idea of sex and that its totally banned to be talked about and only should happen between man and wife. Children and teens need to be educated at home and school, it isn’t even about the action of sex itself that needs to be talked about but also reproductive organs and body parts, personal areas that are not to be touched vs okay areas to be touched by others. I feel like some families just try and shield their kids from the whole topic and it really is a disadvantage to others, being informed about sex, condoms, birth control, and STD’s STI’s etc, will help prevent unwanted pregnancies, STD’s and STI’s etc among young kids and adults. I never even had the “talk” with my family I just had to Google my way through life. And I feel that Megan and Mike need to be more proactive with that type of thing even if sex before marriage is “against your morals and values” or “oh our kids aren’t thinking about that” also with Eve as someone mentioned, sexual exploration starts sooner than it does for other kids. My point is, ITS OKAY TO TALK ABOUT SEX. Rant over. I hope I made a little bit of senselmmomSD wrote:So true about the Duggars! I had forgotten about them. Re: Knorpp and South: Manic Megan’s Pinterest Palace | Part 2
The male/female divide is particularly obvious in the Knorrp household.
Elijah is going to be a photographer; Andrew a writer etc. Esther and Pearl well they get to be hairdressers or jewellery makers.
I’m not saying there is anything wrong with being a hairdresser because I personally think it’s a difficult job which takes hard work and creative flair. I would hate to see anyone’s hair that I would cut. There are very talented, very successful hairdressers out there. That’s not however, why Esther is being pushed that way. They are not going to send her off to train under a great stylist and open up all kinds of opportunities for her. She’ll do it until she gets married and then it will become nothing more than a side-line for her.
Megan talks about having taken film studies at college. Did she even finish her degree? Film studies here in the UK is kind of a mediocre degree. It’s often not even offered by any of the top universities. For someone who wants to change the world, she las little ambition for her daughters.
She has little ambition for her children because - and I don’t mean to offend - the Mormon church doesn’t encourage it.
They appear to want to teach outdated policies on gender roles etc because they don’t want their members to discover life outside of their church. If women discover that all men aren’t beasts enslaved to their impulses and lacking self control, it may just give women more power. It might enable them to have a life outside the home where they can say no to the stereotypical role they are expected to fulfil. Who knows what would happen if they started to do that?

I just enjoy trying to figure people out. But where is the line drawn? I think the difference is in saying someone has narcissistic tendencies vs saying that they have narcissistic personality disorder, which is an actual diagnosis. And you can behave in a manic fashion without having bipolar disorder.IHateCilantro wrote:I just enjoy trying to figure people out. But where is the line drawn? It's the difference between saying someone is behaving a certain way vs saying that they have a disorder related to that, which none of us are qualified to do. None of us, as far as I know, has actually examined her.

It's true that none of us are qualified to diagnose her with anything specific, but I don't think it's wrong to point out that she clearly suffers from something. Do people have chronic mania for no reason? I've never heard of that. It has to stem from something, even if we don't know what exactly it is. And it might not be a personality disorder or a medical condition. It might just be a coping mechanism because she's deeply unhappy with herself or her life. But even that would fall under the mental health category. So bottom line is, something ain't right with that woman, and I wish she would get some real help that doesn't smell like lavender or peppermint.

I just read Andrews "Farewell" to Eli on instagram and his language just seems ridiculous to me. I'm no native speaker but his choice of words feels awkward to me. Is it just me, or does it sound weird?

It's definitely really wordy and clunky, but as a middle school English teacher it's waaayyyyyy better than anything most of my students would write.

It might be better than many students of his age, but it is very wordy and the grammar is horrible. It will be interesting to hear about how open the people of Japan are to being "taught" about Jesus Christ while they are searching for their missing family members, burying their dead, and picking up what's left of their homes after this typhoon. After riding out Irma a few years ago and the damage we sustained, if a missionary came up to me and handed me a pamphlet about Jesus' love and asked to talk to me about it, I would have handed them a hammer, given them some shingles and asked them to be more useful in other ways....or, depending on the time of day (it was exhausting) slapped them in the face and told them that I don't want to hear about how much God loves me if he treats our family the way he just treated them by destroying homes and lives. The last thing that area of the world needs right now is more mouths to feed...not to mention unsanitary conditions in the flooding. From what I understand that typhoon hit right about where Elijah was assigned. You can't just put on your mormon rose colored glasses (literally, for Megan...) and say that "God will provide." I will honestly be quite surprised if Elijah's trip isn't postponed, even for a few weeks.

A MISSION to Tokyo?
OMG really? to convert the Japanese to Mormonism? Really?
I dont think the Japanese need to be Christians, The Japanese have better morals then any Christian.
Look at what happened during the Tsunami, FFS, if a persons wallet with money was found after the Tsunami
they didnt take the cash, they tried to locate the owner and if the owner was gone, they found relatives.
