Oh yeah, they're back. And Tawra did NOT have a good time. Apparently, Air BnB rentals are not always perfect clean and trying to vacation on 4 days (yes, 4 days) of clothing is a lot of work. They nearly came home two weeks early and lost several thousand dollars because Tawra was tired and overwhelmed. She estimates that they could have had a more relaxing time staying in hotels for three weeks and spent about the same amount. (Wow. Shocking.) She's never traveling again.

I'm not a travel expert, but I called it back in the spring as soon as I heard about their plan. It sort of makes sense that a family who are used to eating the same things, not doing activities, and have never traveled internationally would find seven weeks a bit much. it also makes sense that a woman with a chronic illness, who is highly dependent on routine and hates the most minor inconvenience, would not have a good time.
And they are considered ORGANIZATION and PLANNING EXPERTS?????
Why do ppl give them money?? There are better thrifty advice gurus out there.

I just found this post, mostly from clues Tawra left in her videos. I just knew there had to be a group that doesn't want their comments deleted just because it does not align with their views. How close minded and a cult mentality. "Only trust us"

I used to like them, but I was sorely disappointed in their cook book. It literally has a cheesy potatoes recipe that has guess what? Potatoes and cheese. She made a video placing Kraft slices on baked potatoes and called it a day. The book is too basic. I mean, there is a scrambled egg recipe-seriously. I'm surprised it doesn't tell you how to make toast.

If I hear the same story of Mike used to working tv and it's just there to scare you, or how they used to live in an ugly house or they drive old cars or some other story they have said a million times I will scream. Get a LIFE AND IDEAS to discuss. Or do once a month shows. Or talk to other people and get their stories so I don't have to hear this snooze fest. No wonder Mike no longer works in "entertainment news."

Tawra-read books about history and economics which scholars point out in detail the fact that there are systemic reasons some people are poor, including your mom. Hello? Use your eyes and brain as you look at your mom and get it together! Is she growing rich penny pinching the way she did? Please

Oh,and yes, mo_regard. It was hilarious nonsense for them to go on a trip that long. Out of the country, site unseen. Making videos how they saved money planning on their own like that's some saving secret. Lol

YES!!!!
You cant penny pinch your way out of debt!
You need INCOME! None of these bozos have JOBS! They have videos of SIDEHUSTLES, but they are too lazy to do side hustles!

They are living in the 1800s!

Look, I was gonna start a parody blog, but even thats not worth it to me.
I even tested 2 of Tawras recipes, photographed them and everything but Im just not motivated anymore.
I could post em here, I dunno. The one recipe does not work if you follow the instructions to the letter.
Let me know if you think I should post em. I did disprove Tawra and Mikes claim that theres no different between 80% and 93% beef though. So you cant trust them for FACTS!

I just have this to say.
I know YouTubers who started about 1-2 yrs ago and already surpassed 200,000 subs and received their silver YT Button.
I know one YTer who surpassed 200K and has received MULTIPLE Tv offers and sponsorships. IN.ONE.YEAR!!!! They took none of those offers.
I know Tawra said that they wanted her to be on Wife Swap years ago (probably for the drama and LULZ) but it seems that in 10 yrs on YT they should have gotten some sponsors or Tv shows (What up Rural Channel?) Why hasnt this happened?
Its cause Tawra is problematic and the whole family look like they need a bath and they alienate people with their unscientific statements and bigotry.
Its also cause of Tawras treatment of Womans Day magazine and the fact that she couldnt use the Instant Pot.

The last thing I wanna say is that when Tawra and Mike were talking about that time when they made such bad financial decisions and brought 2 kids into this world in huge debt and abandoned their unsold house and went back to Colorado, what gets me about that story is that even with an unpaid mortgage, $21,000.00 (correct that figure If Im wrong) in hospital debt for Elly, Mike decides to abandon his career when Tawra and Jills lightbulb moment for writing the book goes off. So with tons of debt, his wife "sick", having 2 children, and an unpaid mortgage, MIKE QUITS a job in which he went to college for. Or hes laid off (so he says) and doesnt actively search for another Tv job.
Mike should be making 6 figures right now! 6 figures! Yet he thought it was okay to quit and stay home with HUGE DEBTS????
So what does this mean? With wife sick, 2 kids, an unpaid mortgage, and hospital debt, Mike quits or is laid off but never pursues his career after that. What kind of financial sense does that make? Hes not stepping up for his family! I feel that Tawra is the type of woman who whined and pressured Mike to "stay home with me and help with the kids, cause I have CFS and Fibro"!
(this post from another board may apply here but Im not sure, lol: viewtopic.php?f=196&t=16030&start=300#p1484924 )
Why would he lay the burden of making money on his (supposedly) sick wife and MIL? He didnt give his kids after school activities, cause they couldnt afford it. Mike? YOU are the parent! You dont get to deny your kids important childhood experiences cause YOU left your JOB. And if you got laid off, why didnt you look for another job???

I couldnt watch the Euro Trip. I was worried theyd show Tawra being insulting to the Brits and mispronouncing words, and making faces eating Marmite!
Ill bet they spread it on their toast like peanut butter! HAHAHA Ill bet she was insulting if they tried to get her to eat Black Pudding too or Haggis.

Tawra only reads g-rated romance novels and devotionals. Why not educate yourself Tawra?

Tawra and Mike suffer from the Duning Kruger Effect:
Its where people who are dumb are confident in their knowledge and super smart people always second guess themselves.
This is why Tawra thinks shes always right. Confident in ignorance.

I hate cilantro, yes! You make valid points. They proved nothing with their literally watered down 80%beef video or whatever they were trying to prove. It was a failed experiment and they still have that video posted and refer to it like morons. They also hate having decent health insurance? Hello, if they paid even $500 a month its less than getting stuck with a $10,000+ bill. I know they can't do math but smart people can. Maybe she should LISTEN instead of yelling all the time and "put pen to paper" like Jill loves to say.

Oh....and I would LOVE to see what website she gets her "facts" from that claims Denver is the 2nd or 3rd most expensive city in the US. Do shut up about that Tara, a simple google search and you're wrong. Stop acting like "you're thriving in the most expensive city." You're not. End of story. See Kiplinger, Yahoo Finance or any of the first 5 Google results.

Oh and I really think Tawra doesnt enjoy cooking. She wants to get in and out of the kitchen in 15 minutes. But why is she pushing that on other people? Tawra everyone is different, a lot of people enjoy cooking. Hell, my lasagne takes 2 days. 3 days if Im lazy.

Again, Tawra should have never done YT Live, her mouth gets her in trouble

Its sad, Mike and Elly seemed to enjoy their trip to Ireland, had a good time. But according to the other poster here it seems Tawra spoiled it for everyone. OMG 7 weeks and only 4 days of clothes for each person?

Ihatecilantro, they do take issue with "exotic" foods and I did not hear them mention the food on their trip. they talk about avocados being so rare and too expensive -that back in the 1800s one would cost $24. Yeah, now we are in a global market where avocados are a cheap import from Mexico. Times changed. If your cookbook had Cherimoya or golden flakes on a porterhouse steak then it would not make sense to eat that and say you're frugal, we get it. But why talk about what once was? Just admit you dont like avocados. They cost less than a frozen pot pie and are very filling. They talk about chocolate chips like they are made of gold. They talk about sacrifice yet I dont see them sacrificing. They dont even need to. Eat some guac, it's fine.

IHateCilantro and Iwasneverhere, I think you’re right, Tawra does hate cooking.

Some of her “recipes” are downright fails. My personal favorites are:

Chili Mac & Cheese: Cooked macaroni, canned chili, velveeta. Mix together and bake. Ok, this is probably a big hit with kids, but is it really a recipe? Couldn’t we at least try to jazz it up a little before it goes up on the website? Real cheese? Some seasonings, even some breadcrumbs to make a crunchy top layer?

Cole Slaw: Shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, mayonnaise, sugar. Um, hello? This is not cole slaw; it’s sweet cabbage and mayo. Where’s the vinegar, salt, pepper, and the number one ingredient of any coleslaw recipe, celery seed?

It makes me wonder if they know what real food should taste like. I understand that eating on the cheap is their whole brand, but things like seasonings and breadcrumbs cost pennies for an entire recipe. And velveeta? Come on! Real cheese costs about the same ounce for ounce (buy it on sale and freeze it) and is so
much better.

My very favorite LOAD “recipe” fail has got to be Gluten Free Chex Mix. I’m not even snarking in the gluten-free part, rather the execution. We’ve probably all made Chex mix, right? Every family has a recipe and it’s even printed on the cereal box. You mix the cereal and other crunchy bits together in a big bowl, mix the melted butter and seasonings in a smaller bowl, poor the butter mixture over the cereal mixture, mix it all together, then eat it too soon and burn your mouth. Hard to mess up, right? Slow down, champ! Here comes Tawra.

So, she manages to get the cereal and crunchy bits mixed together, then pours the butter in. Alright...but where are all the seasonings? She sprinkles them over the we cereal one at a time. Um....lolwhat? Yeah. Butter—plop. (I think she may have mixed a little at this point, but it doesn’t really matter.) Garlic salt—shake shake shake. Onion salt—shake shake shake. Seasoned salt—shake shake shake. And so on. Yum yum! About 15 pieces of chex will be seasoned A LOT and the rest will be lightly buttered. Tawra—That’s NOT THE RECIPE! I mean, for someone who publishes cookbooks and makes videos about cooking, she should be able to follow the easiest instructions. (This is in a YT from December 2017, I think. I would have found a link and a time stamp for you fine folks, but I don’t hate myself that much.)

Don’t even get me started on ALL the other times she has tried to demonstrate a recipe with missing ingredients and/or substitutions that don’t make sense. Ain’t nobody got time for that.

YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSS YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!
I hate when cooks do that! I agree, mix all the liquid ingredients together FIRST, then add it in.

I made Tawras Maple Glazed Chicken and I used the Aunt Jemima and I followed the recipe exactly! The cooked glaze was about 3 tablespoons and Tawra did not say to baste while baking and I didnt. The chicken was still pink in the center and the underside skin was wobbly. and the glaze burnt to the bottom of the pan. It tasted like nothing mostly, you could taste the syrup (artificial maple is flavored with Fenugreek) but it wasnt anythiing Id want to make again. What would be better is if you got a used or cheap George Foreman Grill and grill skinless boneless Aldi Chicken Thighs and then brush on real maple syrup and a little dijon...OMG I love Aldi chicken thighs , especially in a Mulligatawny! Mulligatawny is divine!

I then made Tawras Green Chile (I think its supposed to be Chili) As written, the recipe is inoperable! It said to put the pork, broth and other stuff in the "pot on low for 10 minutes, then simmer for 45 minutes" I put it on low, set the timer for 10 minutes, walked away, came back, nothing was happening. but Tawra said... then "simmer for 45 minutes" She never said to turn the temp up or anything. So I set the timer for 45 mins and walked away, came back and it was still raw... I ended up turning it up to med-high, and cooked it 30 minutes and finished the recipe. All it tasted like was the canned green chilis. That pot was enough to feed 1-1/2 people, not 5. Id triple the pork, and char and peel my own chilis.

This is what happens with self published books, Publishing Houses pay to test and rewrite all the recipes and proofread them.
Many websites are being forced to put disclaimers up cause ppl get angry that they wasted expensive ingredients on recipes that dont work.
I made a corn muffin recipe about a year ago from a BEAUTIFUL blog, and it was so dry and crumbly. Ill bet they never tested it. It had way too much cornmeal.

I make a lot of exotic food, I love Indian, Japanese, Thai and Laotian food! I make 3 types of cheese, I make very creative vegan dishes, and I make my own croissant dough.

Just for FYI:

Here are my tips to save LOTS of money on seasonings.

Try to live in a multicultural city.
Buy all of your spices and herbs at INDIAN MKTS, HUGE bags for 1/3 the price than a tiny bottle of McCormicks. 14 ounces of Ginger Powder $1.99
Or look for CLOSEOUT (not BigLots) stores for premixed spices and blends. I can get a jar for 97 cents. and EVOO for $5
For cheap produce and meats find your Latin/Hispanic mkt.

Yes, Tawras food is for those living on the edge, but Tawra said her target demographic was ppl making $100K a year, that cole slaw aint gonna cut it for those ppl... especially when Todd Wilburs Top Secret Knock off KFC Cole Slaw recipe is online.

Lmao. My favorite recipe fail was using one cup of beef and she was out ot tomato sauce so she used tomato juice as a sub. That is straight up nasty. This was supposed to feed her family. It was in a tiny sauce pan. Improvising subbing idk ground turkey cause you dont have beef on hand for chili is one thing, but tomato juice? And again, this is your job, correct? Is your whole family missing taste buds? You literally have all day at least to think about what you're cooking. If the sub will be that awful, cook something else. Perhaps the life changing scrambled egg recipe? That Cole slaw recipe above is so wrong.

And that gets to the heart of the matter, why is an Organization/ThriftyLiving/Cooking YT channel NOT FUCKING ORGANIZED???
They have 2 bank accounts, 1 personal and one for the business (they showed this on the show) you should NOT be this disorganized. They do 2 live shows a week, why is it so hard to take an hour on Monday and Wednesday morning to check ingredients and lay out all the non perishables.
Why is she consistently disorganized?

I will always recommend the FlyLady house organization system, including the Control Journal...Actually ESPECIALLY the control journal.
At the start of every week. I print out what Im doing in my house that upcoming week. I tweak FlyLady to suit ME. I never get dressed with lace up shoes or anything...
I also make sure to pencil in creativity.

That chicken does look good ihatecilantro. Which reminded me of another annoyance on living on a dime, The thumbnails are not of their food. They use stock photos-because their food is simply not photo worthy even to them. The "no bake" cookies they made the other day looked like corn turds.

That chicken does look delicious! I have often wondered why they don't take pictures of their food. Maybe they think it is more professional to use stock photos so their food looks perfect. One of my pet peeves with her is the fact that she thinks everyone can easily make $150,000 a year. I wrote and told her that in our location, the only ones that made that much (and more) are the doctors, lawyers, and farmers. I received no response to my email, and I would have been very surprised if she had actually responded.

From the sounds of it, she is going to be writing and selling many different cookbooks that she is writing. . . Freezer meals, cooking for one or 2, cooking once and eating for the week. and a whole bunch of others that she has in the planning stages. She wants to submit her books to Cosco, Walmart and QVC! The woman has big ambitions and dreams.

Shes too problematic. Businesses wont be happy with her homophobia. IE the fact that shes shunned her gay dad and wants his behavior to change. Then there is her crass self righteous attitude. If Dr Laura has been pushed from the public eye Tawra will be too.

Tawra you just have zero self awareness and you arent current. Most cookbook authors live eat and breathe food. They study ingredients, they read about food, they think about food all day long. My family has been in the food biz for over 70 years. Im constantly reading etc. I want to eat and try EVERYTHING. Tawra has been a cookbook author for 2 decades, yet she never ate Abuelita Mexican chocolate? Fans sent her food from other countries, she acted like it was sooo special. Hell, Ive eaten all of this stuff as a child.
As I said before I dont think shes into food as most cookbook authors are.

Most people who get a Glow-Up (in Tawras case a cookbook that sells and a YT channel with over 100K subs) start becoming more educated as they get more money etc. This didnt happen with Tawra, she still is doing all the same shit and says the same ignorant shit.
This isnt the 1960s in Butcher Hollow Kentucky where Loretta Lynn didnt know what HORNY meant and said it on the Radio.
This is 2019 America and we have computers, Smart Phone, Science and 5000 Tv channels and satellite radio.
There is ZERO EXCUSE for Tawra not to have evolved....

Tawra go get therapy to deal with your issues (gay dad etc) put down the g-rated novels and devotionals. READ OTHER THINGS! Educate yourself!

Loretta Lynn: [in a radio interview] Shoot, we've been driving so much, I don't know where I am half the time. But it's fun. We sing, and talk, and Doo - that's my husband - he'll get to acting horny.
Speedy West: [shocked] What!
Loretta Lynn: And the more I laugh, the hornier he gets, and then he'll say "Loretta, spread me up another one of them baloney sandwiches!"
Radio station manager: [later] I don't know where in the hell you think are, lady, but that part of smut don't go in this part of the country!
Loretta Lynn: I didn't know it was dirty! I thought "horny" meant cuttin' up and acting silly!
Radio station manager: And cut up that dumb hillbilly act!
Doolittle Lynn: If you knew Loretta, you'd know that ain't no act.
Loretta Lynn: Thank you, honey.
