Re: Julie Deru: Part One
Julie on Insta Story said she is taking off December with brand deals. One creator said December or the holidays is their biggest time of year with brand deals ->making money with January slowing down. Her reasoning is to focus on family and holidays, but I think she is getting a bit of feedback about too many brand deals. However, it is how they pay the bills. Now I assume Landon is off a good portion of December too with the semester ending and no classes to teach. It is crazy to see two adults with children try to avoid working. Also, the holidays you have extra expenses with gifts etc... Julie said how she loves to hear viewers say they are so relatable. To me, they show a lazy work ethic and I don't think they are at all relatable since most families have one or two parents who work forty hour weeks to provide for their families.

Re: Julie Deru: Part One
1st. I think Julie works overnight a couple times a month doing nursing or home health aide. This, Landen's loans and her youtube money is how they keep their head above water.
2nd. Julie is clearly pregnant. She rarely uploads now (like she is is trying to hide something). She has been very emotional. Plus you can see her bump in eveyone's insta stories , but you can really see it in grandma griff thanksgiving vlog. When she is taking pics in her overalls and definitely at the 7:36 mark. that is not just some pooch from all her previous babies. No wonder they are stressed extra mouth to feed and no fulltime steady income.

Re: Julie Deru: Part One
Yesterday, watching 8 passengers Thanksgiving Special vlog I thought is she pregnant at 10:27 and 10:53 or is it the tighter dress? I looked at their vlogs when they visited Belize and she looked pretty trim in her swimsuits. I guess time will tell.blairwaldorf_ wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 10:02 am 1st. Re: Julie Deru: Part One
If this turns out to be true, I'm going to guess that Emily is pregnant too (is that Beau's wife's name?). Since grandpa said 20 grandkids is...and 22 is...., I'm seeing subliminal announcement here lol. Why would he add 2 more on, why not 1 more to what he already has, or say, more than 20is great.blairwaldorf_ wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2019 10:02 am 1st. Re: Julie Deru: Part One
Landon leaving after midnight from BYU with a job that I doubt is paying well or is he being paid doing research? Is this normal to be at school this late? He mentioned about this being worth it and so far he hasn't seen this happen. So much for the ideal working hours?
Re: Julie Deru: Part One
It's pretty normal to work crazy hours as a grad student, I regularly put in 12-16 hour days and slept in the lab too many nights to count because of overnight experiments. It's the end of the semester too, and he also said he has his prospectus coming up at some point, so definitely a lot on his plate.YTIG60 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 5:51 pm Landon leaving after midnight from BYU with a job that I doubt is paying well or is he being paid doing research? I have never understood why he thinks that being a professor will mean good working hours. Maybe once he gets tenure he will have more job security, but that doesn't mean less work. It's true that the work hours are flexible, but more along the lines of "you get to choose which 80 hours you want to work this week"
Personally, I'm a post-doc (research position required in some fields after your PhD before applying for faculty positions.) It's my goal to be a professor, but the number one thing I'm terrified of is the work load. Every professor I know is working like crazy applying for grants, so that they have money to pay their employees. It's incredibly stressful, and as much as I love research, the work load and stress is insane and scares me so much.
So yeah...sorry for yet long post. I guess I just don't see it the same way Landon apparently does. I really don't get the idea that Kevin only works 9-5 either, so I don't know where Landon is getting his ideas.

My sister is a professor, and even on vacation she works her ass off. She's on sabbatical now, and came to visit and was emailing and doing Skype calls with grad students.ICantEven wrote:It's pretty normal to work crazy hours as a grad student, I regularly put in 12-16 hour days and slept in the lab too many nights to count because of overnight experiments. Plus, until you get tenure, it's publish or perish. So they have to keep doing research.

Except Landon isn't even in a program currently is he? I don't get what he's doing. He didn't get accepted to a program so he 's taking a statistics course but then couldn't even explain what it is. Just that it's REAL HARD. LOL.lmmomSD wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2019 10:11 pmMy sister is a professor, and even on vacation she works her ass off. Maybe he’s cheating? I’m joking, obviously. But I’d be suspicious about my husband being so vague about a single class he’s taking and he’s getting home after midnight? Or he’s just spending as much time as he can outside the house so he doesn’t have to help with anythinggopedjane wrote:Except Landon isn't even in a program currently is he? Re: Julie Deru: Part One
I think he must be in the masters program because a while back he mentioned he had his prospectus coming up, which the grad handbook says they do either before finishing a masters thesis or doctoral dissertation. We know he didn't get accepted into the PhD program last year, so I figured he must be getting a thesis masters degree. His dept doesn't have a grad student directory online...
I'm forgetting what he was doing last year... Wasn't he "finishing up" his masters? Like he started it in Kansas City, then moved to Utah to finish it up and so that he could get to know the people at BYU and get into the PhD program? But then he found out they only accept 1 student per year and it wasn't him...

Re: Julie Deru: Part One
I saw the pic of Julie in the overalls, and she definitely looks pregnant. She looked so stressed and emotionally taxed already, I have to wonder if it was a surprise. Landon seems to have no interest in caring for the kids, or working. What bad timing. I don't usually watch Julie, is her channel going to be affected in January too?
I did watch the Landon college video though, and I don't see why he wouldn't be allowed to workout ot read articles until midnight on his computer at home?

I think you're right. Trying on old prom dresses in a vlog had everyone guessing she was pregnant at that point.actuallydear wrote: ↑Sun Dec 08, 2019 7:25 pm remember she looked pregnant for a while before they announced her last pregnancy? wasn't she like almost half way?

I see she is still doing a number of brand deals in December and she should for the reasons I stated.YTIG60 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2019 5:12 pm Julie on Insta Story said she is taking off December with brand deals. So she bought a tree it doesn’t fit where she wants it so she won’t try any where else in the house. The better solution is replace the fake with a real tree.

Re: Julie Deru: Part One
I was thinking too. Real trees are not inexpensive either. I think Julie frustration includes she is living in a smaller rental home where you can't easily put a larger Christmas tree in a family room. She seems not too happy lately. I bet watching her sister Ruby move into a 5,000 plus square foot home isn't helping either.Ducklings4 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 10, 2019 7:37 am So she bought a tree it doesn’t fit where she wants it so she won’t try any where else in the house.
