I wonder Megan and her sister and law are getting along. They went from seeing eachother a few times a years to daily visits. I think being that close to Megan for that much is a recipe for disaster. Something seems fishy to me about her brother’a family situation to start...can’t quite put my finger on it. But I’m predicting we’ll start seeing less and less of them with no explanation.

No, she said it was Peter originally. He walked in and saw all of their passports on the bed. Someone on this message board said andrew a while ago (incorrectly) and everyone else ran with it. It was Peter who found out (probably because he cant leave their sides for more than 5 minutes, which is so annoying) and Esther, who was told via IG.

Ugh, Peter and Asher seem so entitled and its really frustrating.

I follow Megan on Instagram, but I rarely watch any of her YouTube videos. I had no idea this board existed until she talked about it on Instagram recently. Years ago, I used to follow GOMI, and I couldn’t resist looking at this thread.

When I saw the word “consecrate” on the whiteboard, I was finally driven to make a username and post.

I picked my username because I am exMormon and can provide a lot of insight on that, and the “WK4Meg” is because I am inclined to white knight for Megan on many of the things you guys say about her, especially superficial things. For example, I love her hair SO SO much, and I think her earrings and lipstick are amazing. I don’t think for a second that she had liposuction. She lost weight everywhere. Look back at her pictures from years ago, and you’ll see that she looks just like she does now. She is not crazily disproportionate. She is about 2 sizes smaller on top than the bottom, and she’s proportioned just like me, so maybe I’m just taking personal offense at that characterization!

I can’t really comment on most of the major things you guys complain about, because I don’t watch her YouTube videos.

Back to “CONSECRATE.” Most active adult Mormons “go through the temple” to receive their endowment prior to their mission or marriage. So Mike would have gone before his mission at age 19, and Megan would have gone right before their marriage, when she was around 21.

Mormons continue attending the temple throughout their life, and they hear the exact same ceremonies every single time they go.

One of the covenants that you agree to in the temple is the law of consecration. It is given as follows:

“You and each of you covenant and promise before God, angels, and these witnesses at this altar, that you do accept the law of consecration as contained in the Doctrine and Covenants, in that you do consecrate yourselves, your time, talents, and everything with which the Lord has blessed you, or with which he may bless you, to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the building up of the kingdom of God on the earth and for the establishment of Zion.
Each of you bow your head and say, "Yes." “

This is what I believe Megan is referring to when she writes “consecrate” on the board. Mormons sometimes discuss the concept of consecration more generally, but every adult Mormon who has been to the temple knows that this is a major covenant they have agreed to, and it is going to be part of their thoughts when they discuss the concept.

What shocked me even more than that though, was on the other white board, someone has written “Priest and Priestess.”

In the LDS (Mormon) temple, women are told they will become priestesses to their husband, and men are told they will become priests to God. An exact quote is as follows:

“Brethren, you have been washed and pronounced clean, or that through your faithfulness you may become clean, from the blood and sins of this generation. You have been anointed to become hereafter kings and priests unto the most high God, to rule and reign in the house of Israel forever.

Sisters, you have been washed and anointed to become queens and priestesses to your husbands.”

The wording on this changed slightly in January 2019. It no longer says that women will become priestesses “to your husband”. It now says women will be priestesses “in the new and everlasting covenant”, which is referring to marriage. So I think it still means basically the same thing as it did before, but it has been reworded to sound a little less sexist.

In addition, up until 2019, women covenanted to obey God and hearken to their husbands, and men covenanted to obey God. Exact quote:

(This portion of the temple ceremony shows Adam and Eve, and the participants are asked to consider themselves as if they were Adam or Eve.)
“EVE: Adam, I now covenant to obey the law of the Lord, and to hearken to your counsel as you hearken unto Father.

ADAM: Elohim, I now covenant with thee that from this time forth I will obey thy law and keep thy commandments.”

This was changed in 2019, so now both husband and wife make the same covenant to obey God.

It shocks me to see Megan write “priest and priestess” on her board. Many strong LDS women are extremely bothered by the unequal/sexist parts of the temple ceremony. I am really surprised to see her write that down as something to think about and focus on. She seems like such a strong woman, who has strong ambitions, it is not afraid to lead out in her family. So to see her draw attention to this part of the LDS temple ceremony seems so strange to me.

A major proclamation from the LDS church reads “By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners.”

This proclamation, along with the things said in the temple, is a huge sore spot for many LDS women who earn income for their families.

Well, she certainly doesn't focus on "nurturing" her children.
I do appreciate the framework to understand some of the things she and other LDS vloggers do and say.
In some ways, although testifying is a hig deal in the Mormon faith, and journaling, which led to blogging and then vlogging, is also expected, so many things LDS vloggers do seem to be so against the tenets of their religion: they are materialistic, vain, care a LOT about appearances, and the moms who vlog seem to have lost a lot of the mother instinct along the way. When a kid is sick or hurt, their first impulse is to film it, not comfort the child.
I'm generalizing here. But I find it fascinating how so many LDS vloggers there are, and how much hypocrisy there is and editing themselves to look like a perfect happy family...And Megan is way up there with the rest. What _really_ blows me away is the amount of people who take it at face value, and believe that they really are "amazing moms" and that the families are as perfect as they appear.

And let's not forget the passive aggressive and controlling traits that come through the LDS men. Mike always seemed very controlling on his on 'turf' so to speak, but he let's meg's do her thing to avoid her high strung narc attitude.

Megan doesn't need a white knight. She needs an intervention and most of her kids need medical attention to help stave off a lifetime of discomfort and pain from treatable congenital conditions. After people get out of cults, it takes them time to recognize what reality and human authenticity looks like.
This is why they can fall victim to abusers, they are used to insincerity inside the cult and cannot recognize

As I said, I can’t comment on the medical issues, etc. I do think Megan needs a WK for some of the ridiculous things some of you comment on, especially things she can’t change. Criticizing her for her body shape or the way her mouth moves when she talks? Come on, that’s ridiculous. I know that it’s a given that people on gossip boards will focus on those things, but I think it shows a serious lack of character to do that. I’ll defend her on that stuff all day.
