At 18:25 Cullen slipping up and saying they even bought iPads for their family members to “help with the business” and seeing the fear in Katie’s eyes so she darted them to the right shows this couple is lying. They should’ve edited that part out holy crap. I’m still watching the video but did anyone else catch that and see her eyes when he said that?

Saw a lot of worried looks and side eyeing each other in that video. I am sure the cerified letter was potentially about them getting audited. It sounds like almost everything they have purchased over the past couple years has been for "business". Katie kept mentioning "set" supplies so who knows what all they bought in the name of business. Which is not how that works and I hate how they are blasting all over the internet that if you have a small business you can buy all kinds of crap for "free".

My husband had a second job a few years ago and we were able to get some tax deductions on our gas and vehicle expenses. We did buy a new vehicle but we actually needed it for the job he was doing. They didn't need a 60,000 dollar vehicle for their family of 4.

They put in the title of their video that they owe $57,000 in one category of debt but in the actual video they say their largest debt is $30,000 remaining for their car.

I was wondering if anyone else noticed this too?? Because I was like "Surely I'm not that terrible at math! Where is the other 27k they mention in the title?"

Ya'll... getting your hair and nails done as a a business tax write off? I can't with these two! Desperate times calls for desperate measures it seems.

And like someone else mentioned, I would LOVE to see them call Dave Ramsey and have them be shat on with their DUMB choices and refusing to get second jobs, etc.

I assume the family members were monitoring the comments or this board and that’s why they were claiming the iPads as business expenses. I’m wondering which family member it was. Surely, their family has other things to do.

Nothing they said really added up.. if you were putting away money to pay taxes, why didn’t you have the money to pay taxes at the end of the year? Lol it doesn’t make sense..

I think they bought the house and then felt embarrassed driving their old cars around the neighborhood so they bought a fancy over the top SUV to fit in.

It was still a stupid purchase. I knew it at the time. They didn't need it.

Every time Katie lies she looks toward the right is all I have to say. She makes it painfully obvious that they lied on their tax write offs about purchasing iPads for several family members because it dealt with business stuff. No way in hell did they need several people monitoring their comments on an iPad or 5 even when their channel was getting traction.

They are both so full of shit. The blame ALWAYS goes elsewhere. They say they were misled. I’d be suing my accountant/financial advisor if that were the case.

Guarantee you their YouTube “friends” the Daily Lumps and E&J told them they were buying all that shit as a tax write off and C&K didn’t have the money to buy it but needed to “keep up”.

They took so much time explaining why they weren’t at fault for any of this that we didn’t even get to hear about the house. I can’t wait to hear them explain their way out of the house financing fiasco.

ETA: much of the time is Katie explaining why she doesn’t want to get a regular job. It’s not as “flexible”.... uh no shit, Katie. It’s a job, you have to show up and do the work. Look how pissed she gets when she talks about that topic, too. She obviously heard it many times before and it doesn’t sit well with her.

They need to hit rock bottom before they make real life changes I guess. Katie made a story on instagram showing a comment from a viewer about how they can relate to C&K. Katie said this is why she is an influencer because she can reach so many people. How is that using your psychology degree when it doesn't pertain to anything in the realm of clinical psychology and you have not given any advice or guidance? They are so far deep into their own denial I don't see them coming out of debt anytime soon.

No wonder Cullen was laid off twice. He said he was making creative videos with his socks and shoes and orange peels while he was working. Time to grow up kids. You have to do shit that’s not fun as an adult and that often means getting up and going to a job you hate. Also, I don’t believe Katie gives a ripe rotten shit about “reaching people” and “using her degree”. She’s got a taste of what it’s like to be lazy AF and she’s not going back.

People keep talking about how much Katie's parents helped them but I actually think it hindered them and still is.
They never have had to be financially independent and responsible. They've always had that safety net from Doc and Dolly.
I really believe they are still are getting help in some way from her parents and if they weren't, things would be way different. At least one of them would be working outside the home. I think whatever family drama is present, Doc and Dolly would never let their grandkids suffer.

Also,
She's obviously got her own issues but it seems like Katie is getting all the hate. I know her demeanor is offputting but Cullen had an alcohol and drug addiction which I'm sure cost them tens of thousands of dollars. Katie is probably understandably frustrated at how irresponsible he was. She needs to accept responsibility for her spending and contribution to these issues as well though. Her attitude is most likely a product of her upbringing but it'd be nice to see her own up to something.

Until Doc and Dolly cut off their gravy train I don't think they will really take serious action to get rid of their debt.

I think the reason Katie is getting so much hate is that she has the better earning capacity, and that at least on the surface he seems to be taking it more seriously. But you're right-- he likely spent a lot on his habits. Katie drank her share too. The difference is that we can see all the crap Katie bought, while the stuff Cullen bought was consumed. So it's not as in our faces.

That’s what I thought too. I could have sworn they had that suburban before they moved into the new house. I remember that storm as well and Cullen panicking because the suburban had to be left outside. That was when they lost power and Gaines was freaking out about the storm. I remember that vlog well.

If you believe Cullens first telling of the story, which I do believe is the most honest version, Katie had her own alcohol problem as well. Katie also has a huge shopping problem.

I absolutely "hate" on Katie more then Cullen... mainly because of Katie's attitude. Cullen is generally willing to admit his fault, waiting to be honest and genuinely seems to want to improve. Meanwhile Katie refuses to own her share, puts ALL the blame on Cullen while also acting like nothing is really wrong and acting like she knows best. Every time they've come out with anything honest, its generally Cullen saying something and Katie back peddling, same is true this time.

I think their parents did a pretty good job teaching them about money, they've both said that they did. They understood as a newly married couple to use the credit card to earn points but to pay it off in full each month. They also saved to buy Cullens car, they paid cash for it. That's pretty great. They clearly knew what they should have been doing.

Britney had said hers was only like 200 and Katie rolled her eyes at that in a seemingly condescending way. I think Katie is just a spoiled brat that thinks she deserves a certain lifestyle. She just gives off this well you wouldn't understand you didn't grow up in an upperclass family like me. I really think she looks down on Cullen's family. Yet, I don't get that vibe from the rest of her family. Kelley and Jay don't seem to blow through money like C and K do. Their current house was their third home I believe so that would lead me to believe that they waited until they could afford the home. They borrowed or purchased Madeline's homecoming dress off of a friend instead of blowing 500+ on a new gown. So I think that Katie's parents probably taught them about money I think Katie just wants to keep up with everyone in her social circle no matter the cost.

Kelly and Jay are older too, and Jay has been making very good income longer then Cullen and Katie, and he will continue to do so while youtube is ending.
I fully believe that Katie expected Cullen to provide a certain lifestyle and resents him for not being able to.

They are a hot mess. I'm sure Katie's parents are just thrilled they paid all that money for Katie to get a degree she doesn't use because being an "influencer" pays more money. How about this princess; How about you let Cullen be the stay at home parent who goes on the field trips and stays home with sick kids and you work outside the home as well as doing the whole "influencer" thing until you get your debt paid off. Then you can go back to being an "influencer" and live your life of laziness I mean to help all those poor lost souls on the internet.
