Cullen and Katie: Drowning in debt, parenting is inept | Part #24
Re: Cullen and Katie: Drowning in debt, parenting is inept | Part #24
What it comes down to and what they won't say, is all these Youtubers thought they'd found an easy way to make a lot of money and they didn't think it would ever dry up. They never once thought "I should be wise with my money because this could change at any moment". Instead it was there will always be more money coming in, so who cares if I buy a car or a house I can't afford right now. They obviously either had the worst financial adviser on the planet or were just listening to either Bryan or Jared or just doing whatever they wanted to do because nothing they've talked about makes a lick of sense and a decent financial adviser would've told them they were setting themselves up for failure. Their reasons for not getting other jobs are weak. If they want to get back on their feet, they need to have more money coming in. They can't pay off debt and take care of new expenses without more money coming in at this point. Does it suck to not be home with your kids any more(although lets be honest, that's not really the issue...they just don't want to be bothered with having to work a real job and having to have a real schedule and actually have to do something all day long) sure but it sucks more to not be able to afford necessities or put a roof over their heads.

They send their kids off to daycare anyway, so its not like they are spending that time with them. Katie also mentioned being able to go on field trips as a reason not to go back to work, but does she not realize that people who work real job can ask for days off for things like that (kids only go on 1-2 field trips a year anyway). Katie wouldn’t be missing that much if she went back to work. Cullen is capable of running the youtube business himself.GGF1987 wrote:What it comes down to and what they won't say, is all these Youtubers thought they'd found an easy way to make a lot of money and they didn't think it would ever dry up. It’s funny how Bryan and Jared are being blamed for giving them bad advice. I don’t really think that’s fair. They keep saying they had accountants. Their accountants really suck or they just didn’t listen to them. It’s likely that they just didn’t listen to them because it wasn’t what they wanted to hear. They admit that they still purchased that house after their income was cut in half. Are you freaking serious? Most people would have been scared shitless.

And I don't necessarily think that Bryan and Jared gave them bad advice. Those two were doing better than C&K once they really got going, and although they too were acting as though the gravy train would never stop, I don't think they were giving C&K advice. They were just showing off and flashing cash, and C&K wanted to keep up. They've shown that keeping up appearances is important to them. And wasn't there one time when Bryan and Jared were making fun of Cullen for not having the latest and greatest phone or camera, and he went out and bought it? I just think that they all thought that the money would never dry up, and they all wanted to keep up with each other.Lovethesnark wrote:It’s funny how Bryan and Jared are being blamed for giving them bad advice. Exactly! They aren't with the kids that much during the day anyway. As I said their reasons for not finding other work are weak. I don't think anybody expects them to give up Youtube but there is zero reason Katie could get a job to bring in more money. With Cullen's experience with editing videos and all of that, he could get some side work doing that. They just can't seem to give up this idea that they are going to get rich while doing very little.marshmallowfluf wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 10:18 pmThey send their kids off to daycare anyway, so its not like they are spending that time with them. If you're talking about me, I'm not blaming Bryan and Jared for anything. Cullen and Katie are adults and I don't care what they say, they knew they needed to find people who knew about that kind of stuff to help manage their money and give them financial advise. They either didn't do that or didn't listen(I think didn't listen personally). My point was I could see these two deciding to not bother to hire someone and just asking Bryan and/or Jared what they do and half ass doing what they said. The only people responsible for where they are, is Katie and Cullen.Lovethesnark wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 10:36 pm It’s funny how Bryan and Jared are being blamed for giving them bad advice. There are real jobs in social media that pay well and have flexible schedules. Cullen and Katie would both qualify for many of these jobs. A lot of them are remote positions. They don’t have to go back to their old jobs. They just have to get over themselves.

The part about their income being cut in half during the "adpocalypse" is really astounding. I wonder why none of these other real, open, honest vloggers mentioned anything about that, haha. But I'm sure they all experienced it.
I'm enjoying the latest videos by c&k because they're giving us insight into what's most certainly true for other vloggers, especially e&j (and by extension the Griffiths clan) and B&M. The excess buying and writing every single thing off as tax deductions. The cars they have been given to drive as an ad, the truly all expenses paid trips. Etc etc. Hearing them say the truth that we already knew/suspected feels good.

I don't understand why Cullen can't do everything with the social media and they have that income and Katie goes back to work and they would have that income in addition? You have to hustle to get out of dept.

Cullen said he can’t do side job editing because he wouldn’t be able to invest in himself and his own business. I don’t think Cullen’s editing is all that fabulous. When he was receiving compliments on his editing is when (we now know) Micah was gored to do all of their editing. I think Cullen haphazardly throws shit together.GGF1987 wrote:Exactly! Re: Cullen and Katie: Drowning in debt, parenting is inept | Part #24
I don't think Cullen is a very good editor either knowing now that someone else was doing their editing. I know they don't owe their viewers an explanation but I feel like they need to back up all of their claims. Why are they so busy all day that they can't work an extra job. Cullen records the podcast one day a week and it seems that britney does most of the work. Katie records her podcast using her phone in her closet and does not seem to edit it whatsoever. They self admittedly have not been vlogging much in the last several months so what are they doing all day? They admitted their were having their groceries delivered, they had a housekeeper, a babysitter and their kids are gone half the day. I will admit I have no idea what it is like to have ADHD but they are both on medication so I would assume it is under control. I want to see a day in the life of how "busy" they really are. We know they don't do laundry and clean their house all day.

They just don't seem to have any ambition or drive to do more. I thought they had changed their ways for a while when Katie was regularly uploading videos and learned to edit. Yet she has lost all of that momentum her channel was getting just to record a podcast because in her own words it's easier and takes up less time. All they have is time!Lovethesnark wrote:There are real jobs in social media that pay well and have flexible schedules. Cullen and Katie would both qualify for many of these jobs. I hope those extensions on their own weren't $700 and that number was including the hairdresser putting them in. Can't you get halo extensions for $100? Whatever Katie bought looked like a rat tail. $1000 for that chair is outrageous I didn't even pay that much for my couch. They can say they weren't trying to keep up with anyone but their spending says otherwise.
The rift between her and her sister is becoming clearer. I think she was spending a lot of time with Kelley and her sister is able to spend money without worrying I bet. I bet Katie felt pressure to keep up.

Just catching up on comments here and wanted to pop in and say their mortgage payment probably is nowhere near $3500 for a $600k house that they put a down payment down on. That’s not to say they shouldn’t sell the house but just wanted to say that downpayments lower your mortgage each month and Alabama isn’t extremely expensive like some as far as PMI and property taxes yearly would go.
Re: Cullen and Katie: Drowning in debt, parenting is inept | Part #24
Looks like I was right yesterday when I said they’re going to milk this because here we are with video #3 on the same subject and they’ve shared no more than they did last week with their first video. They’re just sitting in front of the camera at this point and telling us a timeline of their hobby lobby trips and they’re loving it because check out the views.
Major side eye going on this morning in my office while I listen to this video. I don’t want to know what they ordered at a Mexican restaurant in 2014 and I don’t want to know what she spent at Hobby Lobby in 2016 for a child’s birthday party. The conversation they think they’re having with their subscribers is a conversation they should be having amongst themselves with the camera turned off......because at this point it’s coming off as they can’t talk to one another about this situation unless the camera is turned on.
They kept saying they’re getting to the numbers but this is video #3 where that’s not happened and we are being told to waiting for the next video. If Cullen bad to sell an iMac for $800 just to buy groceries they’re doing a lot worse than I ever assumed they were.

I want to hear these two call Dave Ramsey and hear what he has to say. There are so many yt creators that work full time jobs and also find time to make videos worth a watch. No reason they can't work a side job of some kind.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Drowning in debt, parenting is inept | Part #24
Personally I have noticed that if in a certain day I don't have much to do, I'm way more reluctant to do the little I have to do and on a days that are jam-packed with tasks, I am full of energy and I excel and exceed my goals! (a Task that would take an hour on a lazy day, would take only 5 minutes on a busy day)
I think that is the reason why they are so lazy. They have organised their life so, that they have so little amount of responsibilities that they have become numb to reality. If they were way more busy, they would also be way more productive also on other areas of their lives.

I think @GGF1987 hit it on the head saying that they just can't let go of the dream of making tons of money while doing very little. They've done as many other Youtubers seem to have done: gotten used to easy money and not having to do much, to the point where having to answer a few emails _and_ do a couple of errands in the same day, means that they are "so busy!".moville wrote:I don't understand why Cullen can't do everything with the social media and they have that income and Katie goes back to work and they would have that income in addition? The immaturity in their group of friends is astounding. They, and their vlogger besties built followings on infertility/pregnancy loss, and once they actually had the kids that realized that the reality didn't live up to the fantasy, and parenting is hard work, are outsourcing the care of their kids. It really speaks to their level of maturity, and that relates to their handling of money and the way they are stamping their feet and saying "No! We won't get jobs! You can't make us!"

I saw Cullen posted the Rideamals Josie unicorn on Facebook marketplace two days ago for $350 that was given to them for FREE for Christmas. Must be nice to sell items for profit that was given to them by brands. While noticing that, I saw he also recently just joined the Dave Ramsey Baby Steps Community group on FB as well since the 12th and Katie joining on the 11th. No posts from them yet (if ever) as posts need to be approved but it'll be interesting if they do so they can be told numerous times what's already been said in here by people who don't even know them.

I bet it is. The mortgage on the old house was $1200 and this house was 400k more. Plus higher property tax, higher insurance, and $300 a month to the country club.brittknee wrote: ↑Wed Jan 15, 2020 4:54 amJust catching up on comments here and wanted to pop in and say their mortgage payment probably is nowhere near $3500 for a $600k house that they put a down payment down on.
