Cullen and Katie: Drowning in debt, parenting is inept | Part #24
Re: Cullen and Katie: Drowning in debt, parenting is inept | Part #24
I have not watched in FOREVER...and I'm dying to know, how in the world did Katie get so skinny??? I googled and tried to look at video titles, but didn't see a reason why? Did she have weight loss surgery(I don't think she was that overweight, but it was noticeable) ? I wanna know her secret.

She has eaten healthier and started inconsistently exercising.........BUT she also admitted to having adhd and having to stop her medicine while TTC and pregnant. It’s speculated that now since they’ve decided they’re done having children she has started her meds again....adderal will make anyone lose weight pretty quickly.Inkling wrote:I have not watched in FOREVER...and I'm dying to know, how in the world did Katie get so skinny??? Cullen and Katie: Drowning in debt, parenting is inept | Part #24
I cannot believe she managed to get a doctorate degree and thinks what they’re doing is working. If it was working they wouldn’t be broke. If it was working they wouldn’t be making these videos. I think it’s easier to say it’s working than admit they are lazy af and don’t want to get another job.
if she has a flexible schedule, and can go on class trips, then she isn’t spending the whole day working on yt and sm. If she has time for that, she
Has time to work outside of the home.

Whoa! I didn't put it together when they said they both take medication for ADHD and the medication being Adderall. That stuff is pretty addictive and some people compare it to meth!! And, yes, amphetamines can cause weight loss.apmfacebook93 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 7:10 pmShe has eaten healthier and started inconsistently exercising.........BUT she also admitted to having adhd and having to stop her medicine while TTC and pregnant. I had a friend who had a prescription, but he hated the way it made him feel and stopped.
Wow, these two are such a mess! I never realized how many problems they have until now. They BOTH need to get structure back into their life and GET JOBS! They are literally living like "wealthy" drug addicts. They seem to sit at home in pajamas all day and call that "work."

Re: Cullen and Katie: Drowning in debt, parenting is inept | Part #24
It’s very possible that family assistance comes with expectations that they aren’t willing to do. If I was lending someone money to get them out of a mess they created for themselves, I would require the person to do what they can do on their own (get a job), etc.HashtagBlessed wrote:I see that Katie is claiming in the comments on Instagram that family has offered to loan them money and they have declined it because they want to do it themselves. I find that very hard to believe. If my family was willing to loan me money interest-free to pay off credit card debt and I had two young kids to take care of I would do it in a heartbeat. I would rather my kids are taken care of and I would sacrifice my pride to do it. I wouldn't be surprised if Katie's parents are letting them sort out the debt on their own because they are fed up with their self-destructive behavior, but they're sending them money for the kids to make sure there's food on the table. I'm guessing some months they sell enough crap to cover groceries, and when they don't their parents step in.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Drowning in debt, parenting is inept | Part #24
Why does she think it’s logical to do more on yt bc it takes time to get a second job? If it was that easy to make more money on sm and yt why wait until now to do it? She acts like getting a second job is so time consuming. Katie, that’s why you bust your butt at the job(s) you currently have while you are applying/getting hired for a second job. You can do both at the same time. If making more money at what you’re doing is so easy, why don’t you get a second job and continue to do more with the job you have? There’s 24 hours in a day. You can work 8 hours outside of the home and still have 16 hours left in your day. You cannot be spending that much time doing what you’re currently doing. You’re not uploading anything daily, and you’re not doing sponsorships and/or brand deals daily.
It’s going to be funny when these companies no longer want to be associated w whiny youtubers that complain about being broke, but refuse to do what it takes to fix it. I wouldn’t want these lazy cry babies advertising for me.

ADHD medication is not like meth, and it’s offensive to the millions of people for whom it is a necessity to suggest it.rosie_dalia wrote: Whoa! And it’s not addictive to people with actual ADHD, only for neurotypical people. ADHD brains don’t produce neurotransmitters correctly, and medication stimulates the brain to create the chemicals needed to maintain executive functioning. When a “normal” person takes it, it stimulates overproduction of those chemicals and overloads their neuro receptors, causing them to feel high. Neurodivergent people don’t get high at all, they just get normal.
And they don’t always affect weight either. They can suppress the appetite, but they don’t boost the metabolism enough to burn off more than an extra Oreo a day. The reason why a lot of people lose weight when they get meds is because people with unmedicated ADHD often have poor impulse control, and will self-medicate with food, drugs/alcohol, gambling, etc to stimulate neurotransmitter production. Being properly medicated removes that need to self-medicate and improves executive function, impulse control and follow through. All of which will contribute to weight management.
Please stop perpetuating the stigma around ADHD medication. It’s hard enough for those of us who require this medication to have a semblance of a normal life without having people constantly comparing us to junkies on “legal meth”.

Also, the advertisements are going to be a lot less believable once they tell their audience they are hard up for money. “That person will advertise anything because they need the money.” Not to mention, once they advertise whatever free shit they are given, they turn around and sell it on FB marketplace for a profit.
I expected Katie’s list of social media related “work” to be much longer. From what I can remember she said it was YouTube videos, podcasts, brand deals on Instagram, videos on Facebook, and affiliate links. When she said, “selling stuff on Poshmark” was part of her job and then deferred to Cullen, I was like “WTF?!”
They are both so egotistical, they continue to defend their asinine position on why another job isn’t the answer. Katie is right, everyone else is wrong.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Drowning in debt, parenting is inept | Part #24
After all the defensive responses and podcasts she has put out I have come to the conclusion that this whole "trust yourself" bs is her just being super defensive about their life choices. All her podcasts are basically just her parting herself on the back. It's just her rambling on about how she knows who she is and she knows to trust that she is right. Girlfriend just can't handle criticism from anyone I guess. They must get a pretty decent amount of negative comments on their videos that they just don't approve so we never see them. Ii also think her family is outspoken about their life choices. I just get the impression that she constantly hears no this isn't working you need to look at other options. But she doesn't want to hear that so then she goes on a tirade about trusting yourself and how you know what is best for you. Except sometimes you don't know what is best and need other people's opinions when you lose sight of reality.

Ummmm, even Carlie Butler's husband has said he abused using Adderall as a college student for FUN! Ehh it’s both. It’s definitely addictive. I can’t count how many people I knew in college who task them like tic tacs. & adhd is extremely overdiagnosed. Thus people who don’t need it, get prescribed adderall. Same way with vyvanse.Theirmom wrote:ADHD medication is not like meth, and it’s offensive to the millions of people for whom it is a necessity to suggest it.rosie_dalia wrote: Whoa! Katie probably isn’t addicted, her diagnosis may be legitimate....but I feel confident that it contributed to her weight loss. Not because I think it’s meth, but because of the changes the meds make in your body AND because of the reasons you mentioned above.

If you look up how much they make online it says 69k. That’s not a lot while living in a 300-400k house.

No, it's not which is why living in a 600k house and paying for a 70k car has been disastrous for them. They have two kids so they could easily live in a three bedroom home and have a small SUV or car.Azb_29 wrote:If you look up how much they make online it says 69k. They were mentioning a 400k house in their videos and Katie has also mentioned buying a home larger than their first. I still think even if they sell this house they are still going to be living above their means. Having an unpredictable income seems to be a bad thing for people like them. I think that one month if they make 10,000 they feel like they can spend more then the next month they only make 3k and are scrambling to pay bills.
They need to rent for a while so they don't screw up again. They claim to pick up extra shifts they need to put out more videos yet claim they are not going to upload again until monday? They lose people's interest when they do that. This is your job so you should make sure to get all of your work done before you go on vacation. Instead they use a vacation as a way to excuse why they can't upload. My husband has to take his computer and work phone with him on vacations. Making a living means sometimes you don't get a break. They have no work ethic and it drives me crazy.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Drowning in debt, parenting is inept | Part #24
So true! Not to mention that with their "getting out of debt" videos, they are attracting /bringing back an audience that appreciated their real-Ness and perhaps even is trying to learn how to get out of debt. I'm not sure that it'll work with the "here's how to get on a budget and get out of debt and cut all the clutter /excess out of your life" message, then turning around and saying " buy all this crap you don't need." So are they trying to help people who are in a similar situation to them or not? Or are they preying on their audience in order to be able to make social media a lucrative enough job that they can stay lazy?auntasaurus19 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2020 2:43 am Also, the advertisements are going to be a lot less believable once they tell their audience they are hard up for money. “That person will advertise anything because they need the money.” Not to mention, once they advertise whatever free shit they are given, they turn around and sell it on FB marketplace for a profit.
No matter what, it's just not a good strategy for building your business.
Re: Cullen and Katie: Drowning in debt, parenting is inept | Part #24
I dont consider it "blaming" anyone for their situation, I think they are just simply telling their story and what led them to make their decisions. Explaining the back story doesn't mean they are placing blame.
I actually like this series quite a bit. It's really interesting to hear about their mistakes. Its like, once you make a few, you feel obligated to make more in an attempt to fix your other ones and it just snowballs.
They were irresponsible with their money no doubt. But so are many many many other people in this world. It doesn't make them bad people, just stupid lol. And they realize that now.
Sorry to sound like a stan, I just find the videos very insightful to hear what they were thinking and what led to them making these poor financial decisions.

Anyways. If they only make 700 a month and their expenses are 1000 monthly (just picking numbers), then there is a huge problem. They need to continue doing whatever it is they are doing to make that 700, but then need to do something else - ANOTHER JOB - to bring in additional income to make up the difference. That is the only way to get out of this. Eventually they are going to run out of things to sell.
They need to suck up their pride and realize they have two children that rely on them. They need to do WHATEVER it takes to get out of this as soon as possible.

Fair enough. I’m guessing you’re only watching the videos though and didn’t see Katie’s defensive video on IG about why it doesn’t make sense to get a second job? Her attitude has a lot to do with what me forming the opinions here. I think we’d all be enjoying the series more if it seemed that they were actually making changes instead of just making videos about having to make changes and then just hoping for the best.honeybear wrote:I dont consider it "blaming" anyone for their situation, I think they are just simply telling their story and what led them to make their decisions. Yes you're right. I dont follow Cullen and Katie at all because I find them very boring so I dont watch any or their other videos or keep up with their social media.
