I know Esther’s scoliosis has been a hot topic lately but it’s because we keep seeing these awful shots showing how severe her curvature is! Pearl’s issue hasn’t always been obvious but the severity of Esther’s is becoming so much more obvious. And no amount of excuses is going to make me believe she could not benefit from sort of medical intervention!! I’m wondering why she wasn’t put in a brace when she came home? Now she’s probably nearing mid-late puberty, which I’m sure makes correcting the issue way more difficult. She’s going to end up needing major reconstructive spine surgery (but that would mean a few months of no traveling). It’s seriously neglectful.

Definitely rude, but to be fair, I'm not sure why they are even going to church in the first place. None of them speak Spanish, so they are sitting through services that they can't understand. Surely they would get more out of doing a bible study at home or something?

They are going so Manic Meggers can post a photo op, and make videos of just how amazingly devout they all are. Just wait, they’ll drop a line at some point about how he was really just using a translator on his phone so he could understand it.

Esther’s back has always been quite bad. She talked about how she was bullied as a child because of it.
It looks to me in that picture, like she has quite bad gait issues as a result. I mean the very least both her and Pearl could do with is properly individually fitted orthotics for their shoes, to take account of their back issues.
They both have to be in pain, without question.
I know a few kids who have had surgery for scoliosis and none of them were as bad as that. Imagine what it’s like for both of them to have to sit on long car journeys with their backs like that.
I doubt Pearl’s back condition is as rare as Megan says. At the end of the day, if you google it there are many examples of children with similar disorders. Pearl’s condition is on a spectrum of neural tube disorders which vary in severity. From what Megan has explained, her spinal cord has split in two at a certain point. Obviously that can’t be repaired so I understand someone might have told them that nothing can be done to fix the problem but I don’t think that means that nothing can be done to alleviate or help the problem.
If it was here in the UK both of these girls would be being seen regularly by spinal and neurosurgeons - especially as adolescents. They would be under constant review and seeing physio for strengthening etc. The spine is so important, especially when it comes to the health of nerve supply to other organs and pressure on other systems. I honestly cannot see how neither is at risk. You can clearly see the deterioration in both girls.
I was a nurse and I worked on orthopaedics which is why this baffles me so much.

I absolutely agree. I used to think it was all her but he is so insipid - he almost borders on being passive aggressive. I’ve seen a completely different side of him on this Peru trip.
He is uptight, unpleasant, snide and clearly unable to plan or organise anything. I am beginning to think he very possibly has an unpleasant side that we don’t really get to see often.
I actually feel so embarrassed for Megan and Mike. They really believe they are world class travellers. In reality, they don’t have a clue. Megan waxes lyrical about the history of the sites etc she visits but she’s only just reciting what she read on Wikipedia or somewhere similar. It’s painful to watch.

I love how in the Llama video Mike was VERY specific to say (during the pitch they get paid to mouth off about) That they "HOME"school and the program was a great addition to their "HOME" schooling. Ok did anyone catch Megan's insanely ignorant instagram post about Eve? She talked about how Eve prefers routine, and isn't comfortable traveling, but Eve doesn't know what Megan knows. Megan knows that traveling is a great experience blah blah blah. She is completely ignoring that Eve is disabled, and because of that, some things are more difficult, and routine is needed more. The entire post is sooooo condescending and it sounds like she is talking down to her daughter who doesn't feel comfortable traveling who also has DOWN SYNDROME. She is literally so arrogant it blows my mind, and I can't believe people don't check her on her ableist language.

I read that too and felt the same way. It was such a put down to Eve. I wonder if Eve has some underlying problems they aren’t aware of. Eve isn’t in a school program that has organized PE activities that she would benefit from. For that matter none of those kids get any physical activity.

Megan came off as her usual crazy self. Also for sure she reads here because we were talking about Eve. So Megan, answer the questions about the seriousness of your other daughters back problems?

The BEST most amazing version of Eve possible should have speech therapy so she can communicate with others better. I cannot understand most of of what she saying and don't think er family can either and that must be so frustrating for her not to be understood!

I am positive that Megan reads here....how could she not? She knows we are talking about her and her kids and probably totally gets off on thinking we know "nothing." Just like she says that us being here talking about them will not being us happiness (Um, I have plenty of happiness in my life thank you) Well Megs, reading all of this feedback and doing NOTHING about it won't help your special needs kids either. You are totally neglecting and destroying some of those kids' lives. They are a blessing that you do not deserve. Just because you could buy them doesn't make them your property to collect and show off as you see fit (for the channel) like all the pieces of shit trinkets you insist blowing money on in thrift stores.

I still can't believe the Chinese government saw the Knorpps fit to adopt so many children, especially since they don't believe in proper medical care or education. Such a huge disservice. Some of those kids would have been way better off with caregivers in the orphanage in China, at least then they got intervention for their medical needs paid for by the Chinese government.

I’m an intervention specialist, and it drives me crazy seeing the lack of support they have for Eve. She would benefit from speech therapy greatly. Would she ever communicate exactly like her peers? Maybe not, but she could communicate using a communication device (it could just be LAMP on an iPad!).
I know they had her in public school for a hot second, and I think I remember Megan saying she wasn’t happy because they only made a goal for her to read at a 3rd grade reading level. Correct me if I’m wrong. Does Megan understand that IEPs have to start somewhere? They are reviewed annually and with progress this could change? A third grade reading level would be awesome, states require students to be at grade level before moving on in third grade. I would love to see her in a school setting again so she could have access to FREE services. We all know they would never pay for private therapy.

At least the public school had a goal for Eve’s reading. Megan has no such ambition for her. All she wants to do is break Eve’s need for routine so she can spend the rest of her life dragging around after Mike and Megan!
She is so stupid, she doesn’t even understand that travel doesn’t mean Eve can’t also have routine and structure.
With a little bit of forward planning, Eve could have the best if both worlds, Megan! Use daily schedules to help her understand what is going to be happening and when. Keep her say structured wit meals, snacks, bedtimes etc at the same times. Bring her favourite snacks and foods along with you as far as possible, so she doesn’t have to stress about those. Learn to communicate with her and help her to communicate with you. Plan activities which she will like, as well as activities you will like. Give her as much warning of changes to the schedules as possible. None of this is rocket science. It’s just common sense!
Travel doesn’t have to be stressful for her. It’s called compromise and it comes from respect. Megan wants to tailor Eve to fit her world but Megan never wants to sacrifice anything!

Megan was upset at the goals public school set for Eve because she thought they were too low, but what goals does Megan have in mind? And what has she done to achieve any of those goals? The same could be said for her other children, but at least they can communicate their needs to her. I remember in an old vlog she was complaining because Daniel wanted to go to public school (after they moved back to NC) and she "didn't think it was best for him." Daniel is definitely old enough to know what is best for him, and she should accept her children's wishes instead of forcing her own belief systems on them.

Also I loved that screenshot posted in response to Megan's instagram post. The best part was when the OP said "Sometimes it takes sacrifice on the parent's part." That is Megan's biggest problem as a parent, she is unwilling to sacrifice her own personal plans and goals to fit her children's needs. That was especially evident on the Peru trip.

This is really enlightening! Also why is Megan so eager to make sure Eve turns out to be a more "relaxed and dynamic" *adult*? She's like 9 years old. She needs to focus on being a kid. Besides, like other people have said, how about making sure she can READ and have proper Speech therapy?? How about for ALL her kids? I expect so much more from anyone who homeschools, un-schools or "kind-of"-schools- your kids should be so much further along than "all the other kids at PUBLIC SCHOOL." Waiting until Peter was "interested" in reading, and he was falling behind for his age? What do the kids do all day?

I noticed how, and this was after the episode with altitude sickness, the one titled 'What an Adventure,' they were getting ready to drive from one city to the next. She knew which elevation both cities were at, but claimed she didn't know what it was like in between, but she hoped it wouldn't go way up, and she just kind of shrugged. Like *OH WELL, KIDS! ELEVATION SICKNESS, meh!* The kids were more interested in their magical phones than the majestic mountains. Just a bunch of screen time the whole time in the rental van, even when they were getting lost on the dirt roads! The kids didn't even care to be a little bit involved.
