Yes! There was a moment in the Sibling gift exchange where a similar "innate couple moment" occurs when Shari leans in to Chad with her face fixated on his (link saved @13:43). Very awkward.

I personally feel that Chad and Shari have a special connection with each other. Shari is a protector of Chad in a way. He seemed nervous about what the surprise was and as a coping mechanism he held onto Shari. Remember when they were surprised with the Hawaii trip? He had to leave and take a walk. Well, now that he has already been sent away, maybe he is using different methods to keep his emotions in check (ie: holding onto Shari). Besides she seemed okay with it. I think she too looks out for Chad. She knows the crazy that goes on in their house. Did you notice how jealous Ruby seemed of Shari, when they were talking about the dog being named Baker? Also, why is Russell allowed to yell at Kevin? That is so not okay.
yeah, this would be my interpretation of chad and shari's behaviour too, except i wouldn't have been able to put it so eloquently lol

i think they're just close, and that it seems so weird to see them interacting like this because it IS weird to have such a close up view of anyone's sibling relationship - especially when you have kids who have to go to each other for support rather than their parents

i hate the way ruby surprises the kids for the #views to be honest - surprises make me nervous as hell and she KNOWs that both shari and russell can't tolerate uncertainty

why does eve have to do her own hair now?
my mom helped me with my hair up until middle school... and even beyond when I wanted a hard style I hadn't mastered yet.
why does ruby force her kids to grow up so abruptly? nothing is ever natural and at the kids own pace, it's "well you are in kindergarten now, gotta put yourself to bed, gotta wake yourself up, gotta do your own hair, brush your own teeth! oh whats that, you turned seven? gotta do your own laundry!"
it's like she stops being a mother once they start school which is very odd and not healthy for the children.

Now that they will be in a new house, all the girls will be upstairs.. and "mom and dad" will be on a different floor... and Ruby is too lazy to walk her ass upstairs/downstairs, to fix her kids hair... and/or wake up to do so, so she said the other girls will do Eve's hair. She's a shit mother. My mom always did my hair as well.. she even still does if I am having a hard day and need help (I am disabled and need help at times when I am not feeling my best). Sometimes I don't think Ruby wants to be a mother, other than the praise and love she gets... it seems to be too much work for her. She probably couldn't wait til Shari was old enough to start taking care of the kids, and that's why Shari feels like the boss to them.. she raised them.

On another topic... I was thinking about Julie's birds. Does anyone else find it funny, that Shari got Prickles, and NO ONE, was allowed to touch or play with him... (no wonder he's so unsociable). But, Julie gets her birds, and EVERYONE, including Shari, always has them out, even when Julie isn't home? They even went so far as to making her feel she had to name one Bart... If I was Julie, I would be annoyed. She looked rather annoyed when she got home the day Shari TOLD her what the dogs name was, and saw the birds were out.

Ruby and family are cleaning the backyard and then Abby wonders what to do with "that", only to find out "that" is the dog's body, and then they all kind of giggle. I'm not even sure what to say.
Yes, just watched those. It’s Nollie’s ashes. I don’t think it’s a good idea to put her in concrete. She said toward the end of the video that she was glad they got her ashes so they could bring her with them. They didn’t think they would move from their old house. What if someday they want to move from this one? From the sounds of it, it’s a lot bigger then the house they’re in now. Once the kids grow up I’m sure they will want to downsize someday. Putting her under concrete is just too permanent.
No plans to move, this is the home they planned for so their kids can all come home to visit, and their grandkids can have a blast playing in a tree house. Can't remember which vlog, but, yeah, Ruby already talking about grandkids and this house is perfect for them.
That’s why I mentioned that they didn’t think they were going to move from this house but they are. They just don’t know how they’re going to feel later on. Concrete is just too permanent.

I agree with all the comments about the hair. Most parents would be helping with their kid's hair until they were about eight or nine. They would also still be supervising teeth brushing and chores.
You can't even argue she's promoting their independence skills if the older kids have to help.

I wonder what Eves teacher thinks of Ruby.

Eve is responsible for making her own lunch if she doesn’t bring a lunch natural consequence is SHE WILL GO WITHOUT. Ruby she is 6 years old.

Fine she can make her own lunch but as a parent shouldn’t you double check to make sure what she packs is an actual lunch.

Maybe she wasn’t lying and she did pack a lunch but forgot it.

Didn’t this happen to Russel??

Parent of the year again, Eve forgets her lunch (she's little, I don't blame her, my mom was still packing my lunch when I was that young) and when the teacher texts Ruby to let her know Ruby decides to let Eve go hungry to learn a lesson and even said she hoped that nobody would feed her, what kind of parents wants that?! I can see if it was Chad or Shari's age but not a 6 year old.
Any ideas on Ruby's secret project with Bollie? Maybe Mom and me matching outfits or pre teen stuff.

That school must think Ruby is a monster telling them to let her Kindergartner starve so she will learn her lesson and not forget to pack a lunch again. I can't tell if she fixed a snack for 6 people that included 1 sliced banana, 4 pieces of broccoli/cauliflower and some sliced cheese to further punish starving Eve, or if that is her normal brand of food withholding.

So I am guessing they didn't care that Chad missed the first quarter of school because he had to repeat 8th grade? I could have sworn he was in high school already. He is 15 and only half way through 8th grade? No wonder he didn't want to go back to the private school and see his class move on without him. Or does high school in Utah start in 10th grade?

And I just can't with Ruby's stupid ongoing truth and "agilating" lesson. This course is even more useless than I imagined. You would think it shouldn't take more than a week to get the hang of a simple concept. Not to mention sometimes tripping on the stairs is just tripping on the stairs, and there is no deep emotional pain involved. Russell cried his eyes out when Ruby broke a dish, now she's telling him he is denigrating himself by not crying when he trips? If those kids weren't doomed before they are now.

About a year or so ago she mentioned wanting to start a clothing line for kids/ teens I believe.
Is that what they were doing in Arizona??

i really am shocked that ruby would prefer eve go without food in order to learn a lesson.. she's a child!!! ruby takes independence to a whole new level i swear.

also i watched shari's latest video and she said that ruby bought a tonne of nail polishes recently! so i can't help but wonder if her 'clothes' shopping addiction is actually just a shopping addiction and since she's on a clothes ban, she's buying other items to fill the void (nail polish.. a puppy..?)

Ruby at the white board talking nonsense, wtf is she going on about?!

Also.. as forgetful as Ruby is (guess she hasn’t “learned her lesson” by now) you would think she would have a little sympathy for her daughter who is in KINDERGARTEN. My god Ruby, help your child out .. just a little.. once in a while?!

Are you SERIOUS?! She's in Kindergarten! I am all for teaching children responsibility early, but you have to anticipate slip ups and forgetfulness. You don't let a 6 year old go an entire school day without food. That's insane. My children's school NEVER lets any child go without food, no matter the reason. I love that about their school. There are so many children who don't have food at home. The school makes sure they eat at least two full meals while they're at school and then send them home with snacks to eat.

UGGHHHH this family.

And wasn't she force feeding Eve eggs and cheese and cream just a few months ago because she "wasn't growing"? But sure, let her go without lunch as a "learning experience".
The school doesn't seem to care what kind of parents Ruby and Kevin are, as long as the checks don't bounce. They not only pay a nice big tuition for the kids, they donated a chunk of change to the school too.
I was Googling to see when Chad turned 15, and one of the autofill suggestions was "Chad Franke abs".
I sure hope Ruby is putting aside money for those kids. They're going to need it. For therapy.

Chad is 9th grade in Jr. High, which is 7th grade through 9th grade. Middle school is 6th through 8th grade, this is the same everywhere in the states.
Ruby is only taking this BS class and getting this certification so she can feel like if she is credentialed she can write this book and tell people how to parent. She is a joke. This is yet another way for her to inflate her head and feel like she is more than what she actually is. Ruby needs to live in her truth and stop adulating.

The school I taught at would not allow a child to just not have any lunch. Whether it be because they forgot their packed lunch or didn’t have lunch money, we had to ensure they ate. Maybe Utah private schools are different, but that’s insane. I can’t even imagine expecting my kindergartener to pack their own lunch....and especially to never forget it.
I forget things occasionally, and guess what - I have family to step in and help me remedy what I mistakingly forgot. Just like I do for them.

Also, whatever the heck she was talking about at the white board, she sounds crazy.

Idk where you are from, but my school district was junior high 7-8, (we mostly had middle schools 6-8) and all high schools were 9-12. so definitely not "same everywhere in the states"

Also, to me it sounds like chad is entering 9th, he lists 3 social study classes he can take throughout high school and then says "i wont have to take one senior year". My cousin is born 2006 and is entering high school next school year so it makes sense that chad, being born 2005 and being held back most likely a year, is entering high school with my cousin's class.

I also grew up in New England (not CT), and we only have "Middle School" which is 6th-8th. Then high school 9th-12th. There is no separate entity that is "Jr. High" where kids stay an extra year. That being said, I looked up their school based on their house listing and it does look like their district starts public high school at 10th grade. So Chad seems to be on schedule after all. I guess he just hates the Mormon private school.

They/Chad mentioned before, that he is in 9th grade. Plus, if you google the high school in their city, you can see that it is from 10th to 12th grade. So he definitely is in 9th grade and going to 10th grade (at the HS) next year. (you can also google the Junior High School which is 7th through 9th grade)
