Re: 8 Passengers: Feeding Your Kids Leftovers and Emotions | Part 15
Today’s vlog is such a headache. On the one hand if I had a million kids like that who all were that obnoxious and talking and laughing and being idiots while I tried to talk to them, I’d lose it. On the other hand it’s very fun to see Ruby have no control over her kids, and she is insane the way she’s trying to absolve herself of all responsibility for her children. It’s her own fault she has this many kids and it’s too much for her to handle.

Ka-ching! Kids learn a lot by example. They see Ruby forget ALOT!!!! So, perhaps they think they can take responsibility lightly, just like mom does. Practice what you preach, RUBY!! I can't wait until Chad is old enough to fly that coop--he is so emotionally scared, you can see it in his face every time they have an exchange like this.

Also, Kevin came to the rescue a little. Ruby would have had the kids going to great lengths to gain each item back (probably would have made it impossible, cause just as they were getting started, she would have said it was bed time and their opportunity would have been lost). Kevin stepped in and said collectively, they could all gain the stuff back by cleaning the rooms. He probably thinks Ruby is such a buffoon too with her unreasonable laws. Too bad he doesn't stand up for his children more and put her ass in place.

Eve is 5 years old and responsible for packing and remembering her own lunch?! I do not understand her train of thought on this. Not at all.
Kids are kids. Kids are forgetful. That doesn't make them irresponsible. My god this woman needs help. Will those kids have any of their artwork to show their own kids when they get older?
I think it's time I unsubscribe. Ruby needs to teach the kids responsibility but she's too selfish and feels they should come out of the womb knowing all this stuff.
I don't get it and can't support this anymore. Just like I couldn't support Bonnie and her behaviors, I just can't watch Ruby parent this way. She did not need to film the whole trash bag thing and paying for their stuff. That's BS!

Ruby is so stupid. I am convinced she has mental issues. She really needs therapy. I guess her fake life coach class has not taught her if you feel out of control,it is a you issue. You can not gain control and feel safe with yourself by controlling other and making them feel emotionally, physically, verbally or mentally unsafe. A psychiatrist would have a field day with her. She NEEDS THERAPY!

WTF IS WRONG WITH RUBY?! AND KEVIN JUST SITS THERE.

I just watched an old vlog entitled "You're a Cute Couple, But Too Young to Date!!" .... This video shows some weeeeird behaviour from Shari directed toward Chad throughout the entire vlog. "We dipped and kissed." Yuck.

Because a) that would require effort on her part, and b) she's not the cleanest person on earth either. She has said she only washes her hair once a week or something like that. The Griffiths girls just don't practice good hygiene themselves. Aspyn Ovard called Ellie "Smelly Ellie" after spending time with her in Hawaii.Boymomma123 wrote:Why has Ruby not taught her children basic hygiene skills? The girls always look so greasy and oily, especially their hair! I feel bad saying this about kids but they all just look like they smell. How hard is it to remind and make sure your kids are showering and washing their hair regularly.

There's zero discipline in that house. The kids totally disrespected her and Kevin just sat there? That wouldn't happen in my house.

Agreed. I was already annoyed that she's saying her teacher supports her punishing her small child because she thinks it's okay to let her grow up feral. Then she positively gloats when Chad is worried about his grades. Then Shari makes an actually sensible suggestion (EVERY child behaviour specialist will say that you state rules and boundaries clearly and stick to them, not just spring consequences on them without warning) but she can't listen. There is no 'safe space' if your kids don't know what you're going to do next.skyandbuildings wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 5:22 am Today's video has so many things to yell about.
Ruby listed her responsibilities (her kids weren't one of them). So in an effort to not get mad at her kids she goes to the van and throws away anything they've left in there including valentines gifts and artwork.
I don'T even want to start on the new rules she was trying to implement but even Shari was mocking Ruby.
I loved Shari's suggestion that they should start a bag for Ruby. It'd likely be fuller than everyone else's.

The fact she can't recognize that the teacher doesn't want to deal with her hungry/grumpy/distracted child all day completely escapes her. As long as Ruby doesn't feel any consequences! I loved hearing all the kids chime in on things they could bag up that Ruby left strewn around the kitchen. Shari grabbed the phone, Eve suggested her wedding ring, and Julie went for the jugular.....her vlog camera.Alycat_2001_uk wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 10:33 amAgreed. The kids are disrespectful, but I can't blame them. Ruby gets off on manipulating/gaslighting them. Is it any wonder Chad's first instinct was to hold her beloved pitcher hostage and threaten to smash it? She should be thrilled he was actually concerned at the thought he would fail school.....just so Ruby didn't get upset by looking at his unsightly schoolwork. She recently threw out Russells uncompleted homework and told him it didn't matter. Ruby is the worst. Kevin is too, but I have some compassion for him always having to balance Ruby's unpredictable whims. The kids knew Kevin had nothing to do with this....

Sorry Ruby, it is neglect to not send your kindergarten aged child to school without a lunch. She should at the very least make sure that she has a lunch with her when she leaves in the morning if she is too lazy to help her. What does she do for her children? Why did she bother even having them? I don't get why you enforce consequences without first telling them the rule. I get that it's annoying that they left their stuff in the Van but she doesn't even drive them to school so what does she even care?
Life coach! It's laughable.

Wow she's just batshit crazy! I feel so sorry for her family being forced to endure her constant gaslighting and manipulation under the guise of her 'psychology counselling training' Also, could Kevin be any more checked out? I'm so curious to know who he is seeing on the side.... is it a student, or someone from the gym?
The issue with Eve and her lunch doesn't bother me - I actually agree that kids do need to take some responsibility for things, but it needs to be appropriate to their age and development. The older kids didn't sign up to parent their siblings just because Ruby chose to have a large family that she wasn't physically, emotionally, or psychologically capable of raising. I hope, as others have also said, that the kids impose a penalty fine on Ruby every time she forgets an appointment or shows up on the wrong date, or can't be bothered providing them with dinner.

Wow Ruby is actually insane. I thought it was funny when she was starting to come up with 2-3 things the kids could earn back and Kevin right there piped up and said they could have all the stuff back if they cleaned those rooms.. Ruby looked defeated. Good! She’s crazy and a power hungry tyrant. I’m so glad he put his foot down to at least that. He needs to keep that nut job on a short leash.
Re: 8 Passengers: Feeding Your Kids Leftovers and Emotions | Part 15
Sadly she seemed convinced that she had revolutionized the education techniques. This method (threats), has been used for decades without success. It could work for a few days but, eventually, they won't care and she'll be tired of picking up stuff so the yelling will start again.
I really think this vlog is scripted, in no previous video the van was so full of stuff.
I thought it was Shari who drive the siblings and Chad walks to school.
I think the kids reaction is genuine, and it's the most horrendous thing about this vlog.
Ruby, if you're reading, stage something to put into practice one of the things you learned during your course, which you only do to get content ideas, is stupid and irresponsible. The only thing you get is the loss of esteem, trust and respect from your children.
An advice: NEVER ruin a joyful moment with the family by bringing out such things. They were all laughing and joking, having a good time all together, parents included and, without warning, you start with rules and threats. Awful and useless.
A precious moment completely ruined.
Maybe you should worry more about how your kids behave at the table, explain to them that, if they have cutlery, they must not put their faces inside the plate. Disgusting to see.

Re: 8 Passengers: Feeding Your Kids Leftovers and Emotions | Part 15
I’m a moderately strict parent to two teens. In fact, I just grounded my kid from his WiFi privileges today for talking back multiple times after being warned, and then he ranted at me about the punishment and I said, “That's three days now.” I’m not afraid to set firm boundaries.
But I cannot wrap my brain around Ruby! She’s strict about the oddest things and not strict about others. I would much rather my kids didn’t bring their crap in from the car than have them disrespect me with the laughing and talking over me when she was trying to talk. It was beyond inappropriate of them and totally flat out rude.
And then it killed me when she goes, “Okay. I am not having this conversation tonight. Oh well.” I wanted to scream at the phone when she changed her mind on that.
She SHOULD have walked alway. I would have told my kids I was done being interrupted every time I tried to talk and we would try again tomorrow. And then walk away and leave them sitting there considering their actions. Sometimes as a mom you have to do something unexpected and dramatic to shock your kids a bit into stopping a disrespectful or inconsiderate behavior. I can’t believe how much she and Kevin let the lets constantly interrupt.
Odd for such a “strict” mom! But the things she chooses to be strict about are not bringing her 5 year old a lunch. So odd!

Yeah, I don't want to look back at the videos but I swear it was at least 3 days without washing hair (sometimes I can get away with that as an adult) but a pre-teen and teen should wash more often.lmmomSD wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 8:58 amBecause a) that would require effort on her part, and b) she's not the cleanest person on earth either. What the hell does Ruby do all day now? She doesn't have to do laundry, wake the kids or do breakfast/lunch, she even admitted to not doing dinner every night, I am guessing the kids are responsible for all the cleaning, she doesn't have to drive them to school either, she has all this time. I really feel badly for Russell and Eve, to me they are too young to have to be that responsible, no child should go hungry because they forgot their lunch.

Re: 8 Passengers: Feeding Your Kids Leftovers and Emotions | Part 15
I think kids should be taught responsibility that's appropriate for their age. A five-year-old should not yet be responsible for her making her own lunch and taking it to school. Perhaps Eve's responsibility should be getting her uniform/shoes on for school. Then perhaps putting her lunch in her bookbag that Ruby has made.
Ruby had dandruff in school? Those Griffith girls aren't new to hygiene problems!! GROSS!!!
Also, what does Ruby do for the kids? They do their laundry. They clean their rooms and bathrooms and other rooms in the house. Shari drives them to and from school.
Meanwhile Ruby forgets their Dr appts. Ruby doesn't drive them to school. Ruby doesn't do laundry or pack lunches. What does she do for the kids? How does she mother them? She constantly makes excuses for her mishaps but those kids get the fire of hell if they leave their homework in the van.
BTW - Hi Ruby, we know you read here. Those poor kids!!!

Re: 8 Passengers: Feeding Your Kids Leftovers and Emotions | Part 15
1. Eve was responsible for making her own lunch even as a toddler. Ruby confirmed it when viewers asked why she stored the sandwich supplies on the bottom shelf of the pantry. I assume that is why Eve never ate, toddlers aren't great at telling time, or initiating complex tasks like meal preparation.athyker wrote: ↑Tue Feb 25, 2020 6:24 pm I think kids should be taught responsibility that's appropriate for their age. 2. Ruby's school stories were enlightening. I am not that much younger than her, and I don't even recall stories of kids being assessed with calipers and graded on how much fat/weight they lose during the school term. No wonder they all have such a disordered relationship with food. Did they do this anywhere besides Utah?
3. Ruby's only responsibility with the kids appears to be making their life as difficult as possible. Like making them do their laundry at a house they don't live in, or doing chores late into the night to earn back the homework they left out.
4. I don't think Chad left his backpack/homework in the car. Ruby went around the house grabbing anything "out of place" as well. For all we know it could have been left in his room, still in progress, when he was called to dinner. I also find it fishy that this group of kids, who fights over/steals/hides food, would have abandoned a treasure trove of chocolate "treats" in the van. The kids all suggested taking Ruby's belongings that were impassively being used (wedding ring/bowls/pillow/phone/camera) which suggests she grabbed items that were left out for a purpose. Irrational nabbing of items would also explain why Shari was sticking up for them, when normally she is throwing them under the bus for not keeping up with chores....or having a stuffed animal on their bed.
5. Did anyone really listen to Ruby's speech? What kind of emotions is she experiencing that she doesn't " feel safe with herself"!?!?
------------------------------
"I don't want to yell anymore. I don't want to drop my responsibility to hold my emotions. So...in an effort to set boundaries around myself...so that I can feel safe with myself..."
- Ruby, 2020, in reference to throwing out/selling back the kids' school items they didn't put away before dinner.

why do they use paper plates? unless their plates are in the new house which i don't see why because i'm pretty sure they aren't moving for a month... ruby not caring about the environment #mothersarepowerful
