She was still justifying a lot of the purchases from last year in today's video! She admitted to spending $150 on kids shoes in one month and Cullen claimed they only wore them once and of course Katie got defensive. She was justifying purchases that lead to their current circumstances and not being able to afford gas last summer! No Katie those purchases were not worth it and you should regret all of that spending. Toddler aged children do not need expensive name brand shoes. My kids wear old navy, target and walmart shoes and they last just fine. They grow out of them so fast expensive name brand shoes are such a waste of $$$!

Then on top of the nearly 3000 on clothes she also spend 700 at target which was most likely clothes as well. Wasn't she allegedly doing Marie Kondo during all of this shopping? How does that make any sense?

I thought the monthly Target bill was crazy high...but then $2743 just on CLOTHES??? In ONE month??????? FFS! And $200 at Bath and Body Works? In ONE month??! (Damn, Katie, they sell virtually the same delicious-smelling 3-wick candles at Aldi for $3.99.)
She was obviously hiding all of that spending from Cullen.

It's bizarre how she blows off the overspending by saying "I don't regret buying XYZ." Really?! My jaw dropped when she explained how much they spent BEFORE bills.

Holy smokes you keep your AC set at 70? We keep ours set at 78 during the day and 74 at night in the Summer here in NJ and our Electric Bill is still nearly $200 a month. In the winter our electric bill is $120 a month. Our heat is gas, but our water heater is unfortunately electric.
My husband prefers it at 71/72 when it gets super humid and in the 90s. I grew up in a family that never used our air conditioning so I am comfortable with the windows open and ceiling fans. We don't consistently keep in that low just when it is super hot. But we also have a 1500 sq ft home so it doesn't up our electric bill too much. Average is probably 74 for us in the summer and I am in the paying off debt journey so I have been keeping my heat at 68 to cut the gas bill.
I just don't understand why trying to save on the gas, electric and water bills wouldn't have been one of the first things they tried to cut?
I think it is 25 degrees out right now and my thermostat is at 67 and we are just fine. They think they need the heat on when it is 50 out lol!

I keep our heat set at 68 during the day and at 65 at night when we're in bed. I had two bouts of cancer in 4 1/2 years and after my second round of treatments I'm always cold. I can't stand the thermostat any lower than it already is. I walk around my house looking like an Eskimo while my oldest two thirteen and twelve year old sons walk around in shorts and t-shirts, lol.
Kohl's isn't that cheap. They have good sales, but their regularly priced items can be expensive. My daughter was looking for a skirt, and the first one she saw that she liked was $89.99. For a poly blend skirt. And I have seen other expensive items there.
Yes-- you get Kohl's bucks and you can get nice things on sale, but something tells me she wasn't only shopping sales.

Shifty is not remorseful for spending $2,700 on clothing AT ALL. She had an excuse for every single overpriced pair of shoes and piece of clothing. It’s obvious that Cullen had no idea what she was doing - he looked completely bamboozled.

$3000 of high end clothing would only be a handful of items. If you’re not paying any attention you could rack up 3k at Kohl’s pretty easily. Feb is probably one of those months she was shopping for a trip or convention. All 4 of them would get tons of new outfits. Plus new shoes. Plus accessories. Plus smocked and monogrammed outfits that average about $50 a piece, times 2 for each one if she got matching ones for the kids.

Right?!?! It would make more sense to me of the kids always looked put together and well dressed. The same with Cullen and Katie but half the time they are just wearing pajamas.
I could understand spending all that money on business attire for a professional career. Not for two adults who stay home all day and order uber eats while their kids are in daycare all day.
I'm in Alabama. We have had some unusually cold weather over the past few years. With kids, I would be more lax with the thermostat because I was a cold kid. The other problem is we have huge temperature swings, sometimes even in the middle of the week, 73 on one day in January and snowing by that night and then back to 68 on the weekend. It's harder for your body to adjust than sliding smoothly between seasons. I rely on space heaters and osculating fans. Also, this winter I got a fleece to wear indoors. It's really helped. I've got a family member with a house like theirs. The thought of heating and cooling they style and size of a house gives me nightmares.
The more I see of Katie, the more I think, if she did ever get a job, I wouldn't want her as a mental health professional, at least not in the state she's in. She's a disorganized thinker and her judgement is extremely poor. She needs job with direction from someone else. Both of them could stand to see a therapist or at least some group therapy.
I just took a peek at the comments on their latest video. Their viewers that they let post are clueless about how disordered their behavior is. After listening to her spending behavior, do NOT give them shopping tips. That's the last thing they need. I've seen people with shopping and hoarding disorders spend just as much as she does at Kohls at the thrift store. It's almost worse because they make excuses to buy more because "it's cheap".
If they came at this with humility, without this gross prosperity gospel stuff, without excuses, and with acknowledgement that they just got caught up in their fame, the "mean" commenters might see growth and give them a pass on their ass-backward and lazy way of going about this. If they were just honest about just not wanting a job and just not really wanting to make sacrifices, damn the consequences, it would be better than this. Heck, if they'd stop pretending that the little they're doing is any kind of sacrifice, I wouldn't hate them so much. Maybe if they dropped the monthly checks and tithed by actually working with people who are actually experiencing crises and sacrifice, they'd wake up and realize what jerks their being with the way they're talking about their situation.
I couldn’t make it through the video. Katie has an excuse for everything!! Cullen seemed to have no idea what she was spending, he needs to be more involved! If Katie won’t “let” him then maybe they need separate finances because she’s going to rack the debt right back up, she’s learned nothing. The number loving nerd doesn’t even know what she bought, a $900 kohl’s charge and she’s totally nonchalant about it.
I wouldn’t trust that she’s actually paying the bills. She’s got a serious problem and they should both seek help for their addictions. She’s in complete denial about her problem. Makes me wonder if she’s doing anything else to satisfy her shopping addiction? I almost feel bad for Cullen. He talked about being stressed by their finances years ago. Katie didn’t give a damn about any of that. She played the victim this whole time.
I’ve always felt like Kohl’s was a better organized version of TJ Maxx. It’s good for a few tahirts and maybe a pair of jeans here and there. I can’t imagine what you could spend $3000 on in one month. I assume she just purchased these things just to throw in the corner of the cat piss room. They don’t do anything or go anywhere special. She probably would have been better off buying designer clothing. Atleast there would be some resale value. No one wants the cheap crap from kohl’s. Has she sold the expensive purse she got as a push present when Brooks was born? Seems like that should have been one of the first things to go.
