Because most of it is for Gaines and she has told before that it's mostly buying kids' cloths she is addicted to. Seriously though, what I don't understand is why Gaines needs a new dress when you have a wardrobe for this reason, with regular cloths and cloths for special occasions. It's even been mentioned before how many dresses Gaines has. For daddy date night, use her wardrobe how it is meant to be, especially when you're on a budget.

But any smart buyer would check the Price/tax history section and see the constant price drops and when it was actually listed for sale. A new listing isn’t going to make those go away.

Also, who the hell has a $800 monthly grocery budget for a family of four?! That is ridiculous!!

For a family of six including 4 teenagers we were $1000 a month. But my kids ate us out of house and home. When they were all under 10, I could not imagine spending $800 a month and my kids were all big eaters not like theirs (well maybe just Gaines) that seem to pick.

The house is going to be very hard to sell regardless of taking it off the market for a reset.

I looked at a lot of other listings with 5 bedroom homes and there are quite a few that are way less than theirs. One of the comments they got back from a showing was it is just so much house. All of the rooms are huge and there is just a lot of empty space yet and the floor plan is so closed off. I found homes for 400k with 5 bedrooms that were much more updated and had open floor plans with similar square footage. They need to list the house for 500k just to get rid of it.

As far as selling the Suburban, Katie mentions only making $2,000 from the sale. The purpose of selling the vehicle is not to make money, but to save the huge monthly payment/insurance and amount of gas for that vehicle.
"Only $2000"? It's $2000 they don't have right now.
She will use her pretzel logic to justify whatever she wants. Or Gaines wants.

About the Daddy Daughter dance outfit. If Gaines already owned the dress, I take back what I said about spending on it. But I stand by my opinion that the lip color was all wrong. Deep red/reddish pink is _not_ "a little color". She's five. It's inappropriate, especially since they're putting it on the internet. A light pink or sheer gloss would have been better.
Petty question: why does Cullen wear his blue light glasses outside?
Another petty question (I was looking at Katie's IG-- if Gaines had the flu, why not go get her some meds for it? I would have much less problem with them doing that than spending on St. Patrick's Day. And why take so many pictures of your little princess feeling like crap? I get that social media is their "job", and that there are people waiting with bated breath to see how she is; but even so, they don't have to keep posting pictures of her to update people. When my daughter is sick, the last thing on my mind is taking a picture and posting it.

With spring coming though there will be a lot of new buyers out looking. I think it will tap into that market. Right now they just ran out of people out there looking at houses.

Katie also mentioned taking a break from all the last minute notifications of showings. Instead of looking at each new showing as a possible sale, she sees it as an inconvenience and wants a break. Several posters have mentioned setting hours for showings with her agent so they can plan around them. Taking the house off the market for a reset is just grasping at straws and making excuses. Yes, spring is coming. Many families looking to buy and move will wait until the end of the school year. Still, not actively looking to sell is counter productive to getting out of that mortgage they can't afford. It's not like they can magically increase the selling price when they put it back on the market.

And I really have a hard time believing that people are beating down the door to view that house, unless they're weird stans who just want to see Cullen and Katie's house.
They don't work outside the home. How "disrupting" can it be to do a few showings? She wants everything to happen with no inconvenience to herself.

They are going to end up having to take a short sale or suck it up and stay there. Yes showings are a pain sometimes. But most of the time you have plenty of time. We always knew what showings were coming that day the day before. Only when the lady who bought our house wanted to see it a second time did we have to leave quick.

KM_90 wrote: Sat Feb 29, 2020 7:51 pm Hi all! New here and first time poster. I wanted to chime in to say that, while I don't disagree with a lot that's been said here, I did want to point out that I'm pretty sure Gaines is wearing an Elsa costume from Frozen that she already owned to the Daddy Daughter dance. I also believe this was something their church hosted. I think she looks perfectly OK for the event. All the little girls tend to wear a little color on their lips or light make up for their special night. I think it's cute she decided to wear her Elsa dress when she was told to pick something she already owned.

Also, I think Katie mentioned that she was buying clothes for several trips or events they were attending last spring so I think she was likely buying things for all of them, and that may also explain why you don't see them in the clothes often. They tend to dress way casually for hanging out at home vs wearing their nicer clothing, and I can't say that I blame them. I do agree that the amount she spent was definitely excessive...especially for Kohl's. I can't for the life of me ever find more than 1 or 2 things I like when I go there. I feel like for the quality, their clothes are overpriced before any discounts or sales. They do have decent kids clothes though.

Ya, that is definitely an Elsa costume, which is cute. I have no problem with what Gaines is wearing. I think its sweet.

Katie did say she was shopping because she had lost weight, Easter and there Disney trip. She spent $125 for Easter shoes for the kids. That is excessive. I am all for buying quality shoes for the ones you were daily, like sneakers or a pair of sandals, but dress shoes for a specific holiday? Nope. I used to hit thrift shops, Target or Payless for holiday shoes I knew would only be worn once or twice. The cheaper the better. And I am all for fun Disney clothes, but when you don't have any money, nope. We have frequently visited Disney and I love having fun family shirts or outfits for my kiddo, but only if I have the cash. No cash, no shirts. Hell, no cash, no trip.

She is just clinically depressed, that is what happens the thrill of the sale then comes home and lives in sweats!
She comfort feeds her emotions with getting what she thinks she likes then returns home and crashes! It is very much like a drug rush then reality still is there!
You hit the nail on the head. All that more of a reason why they both need to sacrifice whatever they can to get back in therapy. Until they realize this and treat it and get on the road to recovery, those habits will never change and they will continue the cycle. Been there done that. Therapy changed my life!

I could see their grocery budget being high like that if they bought organic, GMO free foods, lots of organic grass fed beef, organic chicken, organic veggies and then organic snacks. That is how we shop and our grocery budget is higher then there for a smaller family, but we also live in one of the most expensive states in the country. We do grow our own fruits and veggies during spring and summer which cuts down on that budget a bunch. How they spend that much on the garbage they eat, I will never understand. They literally eat pure trash. Like, your kid wouldn't be needing pediasure, which is a chemical shitstorm anyways, if you fed them healthy foods.

I am assuming since Cullen says that he cant see when his blue light glasses are off, that they are prescription eyeglasses with bluelight coating. As for flu meds. Not much you can do for the flu. It is viral, so treatment is supportive. Elderberry is the best course of action, Motrin if the fever and pain get to be too much, but other then that love, warm bathes, lots of fluids.

My house consist of my husband, 2 yr old, newborn and myself. We eat all organic and our meat is all grain free, free range, organic fed. Our grocery bill is between 550 and 600 a month.

There is a prescription antiviral to treat the flu called Tamiflu (brand name). You need to go to the doctor and get the prescription within the first 48 hours of symptoms, but it is incredibly effective in shortening the duration. It is also prescribed to prevent other family members from coming down with the flu. I'm surprised Katie and Cullen didn't take her in right away to get tested and get the medication if they knew it was going around her classroom.

No, there are actually medications now that drastically shorten the duration of the flu. Tamiflu is approved for children. They could have gotten it for her that first day. You have to start taking it within 48 hours of onset of symptoms, but they knew she probably had it. I wasn't talking about antibiotics.

I can't blame her for not doing that.
It's actually better to skip the Tamiflu, and let your body run its course with the sickness.
That way your body build immunity which helps fight the sickness should you come in contact with it again.

I agree with skipping Tamiflu. And most times what people call the “flu” is actually a cold or more minor virus. Best to rest and let it run its course while treating symptoms. I wouldn’t have taken my child to the doctor either. If the child is otherwise healthy there’s no point in dragging them out and exposing others to the virus.
I completely agree with what Katie did. For once. Lol

Agree to disagree. It doesn't stop your immune response. It interferes with the replication of the virus. And if the rest of the family took it, it would help protect them from getting it.
But they get lots of engagement from posting all those pictures of miserable Gaines.
