This.........just because you see someone on youtube paying $3400 a month on a $600k house doesn’t mean we all do keep in mind what they had to do to even qualify which is take out a second loan. Some of us are smart with our money and have HAD the consistent income of a little over $200k for 17 years and the ability to pay cash for all our vehicles and still be able to enjoy life without the thought in the backs of our mind that we could lose it all the next day. Not all of us that make a good six figure income are sitting at home wondering what our next target or Etsy purchase will be and that’s all I’m asking people to do here.HashtagBlessed wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 6:36 am Keep in mind that Katie and Cullen did not qualify to purchase this home through a traditional mortgage situation. The lender did not approve them for the full purchase price. They had to take out a second loan with an incredibly high interest rate. They knew it was a financial disaster, and they did it anyways. They knew that their income was falling, and their channel was stagnant at best. It’s also worth pointing out that their income came from a relatively young small business in which they are freelancers and their income could vary dramatically from month to month. They should have been living well below their means in a volatile situation like that.
K&C need serious help and sitting in front of a camera every time they put money into an envelope for their next haircut isn’t going to do the trick. They should get off their asses and find work outside of the home if they’re really serious about getting out of this hole but they’re not.

I dont quite understand why people are saying they shouldn't do more staging/ upgrade the appliances. If those appliances are original to the house that was 1989- so they are 30 years old. Double stove ovens like what they have are around $1500 for just that for a new one. Not to mention having it installed. I aint trying to argue with anyone but I don't understand why anyone would say those shouldnt be updated?
The house looks so empty. Majority of the photos look fine enough but also the outside of the house looks like it has green growing on the brick. I wouldnt doubt it has an odor and that could be part of it but if I was going to buy a $600,000 house i wouldnt want to put another $10,000+ into it to upgrade the appliances and get rid of that gold outdated ugly mirrors and chandelier and faucets in the other bathroom right away. Especially not when theres better houses on the same road.
Id love to be able to to view it in person just to see if its as bad as i think it is in the photos. I think it looks cold and empty and i have family in reality and we talked about a little more staging in some of the emptier rooms/ the room with the red rug/ and then powerwash and clean up the outside of the house. That wouldnt cost much at all to power wash the outside.
Comparing it to the house listed just this week on the very same road their house just does not look good compared to that one.
Also the handprint wall? I think theres too many things people would have to fix right away moving in and thats why it isnt selling.

I just can't believe that neither of them have student loans yet they still have more debt than most Americans who have had to take out student loans!
I really wonder what goes on inside Katie's mind that got her to the point of spending so much on clothing. I just had to spend $50 on some new clothes for my boys and I hate that it ended up being that much! Kids out grow clothes before they even look worn. I just cannot fathom spending so much money on clothing! Girlfriend needs some serious help to work through those issues.
I do think they need to replace the appliances, however they cannot possibly be able to afford high end appliances and they would he better off to offer an allowance for the buyer.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
I thought the same thing. I posted about it last week. The bathrooms are the biggest turnoff. They should update the shower doors, handles, lighting fixtures and the biggest eyesore of all- that mismatched black sink in the guest bathroom. It will cost them a small fraction of what they will spend on appliances. If I saw that mismatched sink and toilet I would walk straight out. It says everything about the lack of care put into the home. I think it is even worse than the kitchen appliances which they can offer a credit for. As for the cats they should think about rehoming them with friends or family until they sell the house if they keep going to the bathroom everywhere. They may have arthritis which is why the cat litter bothers them so much. They also need to get a steam cleaning done to get the stench out. You are right about staging, it would make a world of difference.sd9008 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2020 10:41 pm I found their house on Zillow and honestly their photos look awful (not all- the entrance, their bedrooms, and the bathroom are the only good photos) and the rest of the house looks cold and empty in my opinion. I wouldnt buy it either honestly and its not surprising they havent sold it. The other house listed on the same road 4 days ago looks so much better and more inviting. They need to clean up the outside too. Not a lot just freaking power wash it or something. It looks awful in the photos... and I think they should update the appliances. I dont think that would be a bad idea. I think they need to do a little more staging or something as well. It just looks so cold and empty and theres too much empty space. And as someone mentioned she sure didnt mention the car payment because she knew the answer. They deny getting real second jobs to knock out this massive debt. Theyve also got a few gold dated light fixtures and id get rid of those too. Compared to the other house listed on the same road their house looks pretty shitty.

This is a good point - income alone isn't the only factor here. Firstly, 200k is DOUBLE what C&K bring in. That's a huge difference when it comes to affording a home. I'm guessing with that income for 15+ years, you had a sizeable down payment. If your credit is good you would have gotten a better interest rate. All of these factors go into the affordability of a home. Also - they don't have any employer-sponsored benefits given that they're self-employed, so they're funding their own health insurance. No retirement benefits either (not that they would have been contributing to an IRA or 401(k) with their habits, anyways).brittknee wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 12:32 pmThis.........just because you see someone on youtube paying $3400 a month on a $600k house doesn’t mean we all do keep in mind what they had to do to even qualify which is take out a second loan. Also, if your house is smaller, the maintenance costs aren't as high. I bought my house for 680k, but it's 3,000 square feet (high cost of living area) so it's almost half the size of C&K's house, so I have house the house to maintain.

No offense to cat owners, but this is why I will never have a cat again. I like them and in turn I took in a rescue for a while. Thankfully she was an angel who did not make one bit of mess, but I really couldn't stand the litter. I find dogs to be more work but easier overall. My dog was the best. As long as they are walked and have pee pads (up to a certain size) for backup they create far less obnoxious bowel mess problems. Cats pee is also one of the most heinous, aggressive scents on earth. It is relentless. I also prefer tile floors in a kitchen because you don't have to worry about stinky odors from spills, they can be cleaned.snarkaholic wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 10:22 amYep, my parents have a rental property and one of the tenants had a cat and a small dog that they were too lazy to walk. Both animals peed and pooped everywhere. Once they moved out, it smelled disgusting. My parents ripped up the carpet and then realized they’d have to replace the subfloor too. It cost thousands of dollars that C&K don’t have, but nobody is going to buy a house that smells like that unless it’s WAY under market value.twomommies wrote:They're gonna have to replace everything down to sub flooring that the cats pee on. We had a house fire in October so you can't tell now, but before that you could see where my MIL let the cats just pee/spray freely all the way down into the wood and heater vents and the smell doesn't come out with scrubbing (we rented my boyfriend's parents house and it was a nightmare to price repairing cat damage)Theirmom wrote:The house isn’t selling because they’re nasty, dirty people.
It has nothing to do with the appliances, dated decor, staging, small yard, etc.
It’s because that whole house stinks like cat piss.
Even just last week she was saying how they had to try yet another cat litter because one or both of the cats didn’t like it. Which means that one or both of the cats is just pissing and shitting wherever it wants.
When she was decluttering last year she whined about not being able to return a bag of clothing because one of the cats had pissed all over it.
They’ve been letting the animals use that house as a toilet for three years.
THAT’S why the house isn’t selling. Who the hell wants a half million dollar home that smells like stale pot, booze and cat piss?

I meant to write earlier that they need to paint the kids rooms white or a very light neutral color. The colors they have on the walls are very unpleasant to say the least.

They don't have savings. That's the problem. Katie had to scrounge in cushions for gas money last summer.sillchar44 wrote:I don't understand how these people are in so much debt I would understand making these mistakes like in your 20s but you're almost 40!! They should go to the park with some gloves on and collect aluminum cans, lol. Can you imagine Katie pulling recyclables out of a trash can?
But they don't need jobs because they "make enough". They just spend too much. But they can't cut most of their spending because holidays like Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's day are "important", as is drinking on spring break, going out for Tex Mex night, and having matching monogrammed clothing.
I don't think "dumb" is the right word. It takes some kind of intelligence to come up with the rationalizations that Katie does.

Even if Dolly did Katie wouldn’t listen ... by her own admission her parents taught her about money yet with all her superior knowledge here they are....
Katie really only cares about Katie. She got her almond milk for her smoothies so she really doesn’t care what the rest of them eat.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
It just makes you so sad for their kids, doesn't it? Their whole mess just reminded me of when I was in college. I used to run a student org through which we would have local grade schoolers dropped off to us two afternoons a week for tutoring, mentoring and unofficial childcare. It was similar to Big Brothers/Big Sisters. One of my kids came from a poor home in which the parents worked multiple jobs, so they needed help. I would always buy her dinner and give her some money for 'treats'. I was lucky enough not to have student debt, but I never took it for granted. I was not much of a drinker in school either so I would just put any extra cash into community charity projects I worked on or knew of. They better get their s#it together before their kids end up in that position. Cullen gets it, but Katie still lives on Fantasy flipping Island. First and foremost they have a duty of care to their children because they are supposed to be the damned adults. Booze and any other non essentials are not in the budget. Getting 9-5 jobs which include healthcare coverage, going to AA/NA and selling that ridiculous overpriced car are mandatory. It is pretty pathetic that Cullen's drug addict ex-con sister Brittney is in a better financial/life position than he and Katie are after being out of jail for less than 2&1/2 years. No More Excuses.lmmomSD wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 2:47 pmThey don't have savings. That's the problem. Yes we are in a high cost of living area but we chose this because of the school districts that we are around of course. We did make a sizable down payment on our home and it’s just under 3500 square feet. I can’t imagine having their sized house for their sizes family but to each their own!twinmama wrote: ↑Wed Mar 04, 2020 2:13 pmThis is a good point - income alone isn't the only factor here. I hope this goes without saying but please know that as a SAHM you’re doing the most important job that someone can have in their entire life and your 800 square foot home doesn’t define you or how much love is in your family. Keep in mind my husband and I are in the same profession but our income is also relative to our area so while it sounds like a huge amount it also costs an equally huge amount to live where we do. Yes we have a nice home (and so do you!!!) and two vehicles we paid cash for but other than that I’m sitting in a work outfit that I’ve owned since 2012 because we don’t live lavishly and want to put our daughter through college in the very near future without going into debt. I am laughing hysterically over Katie's Instagram stories about sharing their meals because someone asked her about how she meal preps.
Girlfriend gives those kids bland pasta and cheese every damn night. Her excuse is they are picky and don't eat meat. You are the parent Katie put on your big girl panties and teach your kids how to eat better!
Quit buying all that junk from the Aldi haul so your kids have no other option but to eat the meals you cook. I will never understand parents who cook different meals for their kids. My kids started to get picky and I adapted and made changes. Her excuse is always "well things are so crazy around here". Grow the hell up and make your family a priority like everyone else does. Your life is crazy because you have made it that way.
Some people have real emergencies happening in their lives yet still find time to take care of their kids properly.

I still don't understand why they're not getting full time jobs? My husband makes a little over 200k and always picks up overtime shifts because he can't stand sitting at home all day. These two have the worst work ethic I have ever seen.
