Here in Michigan we have a 2015 and 2019 and we paid about $430 for the both of then this previous year.

Why are they so worried about birthdays? I have never spent more than $100 for a birthday party including food and decor. She wants to spend $100 on gifts for the kids? Dear lord what is wrong with them?

Also, why is their Costco membership $100? We don't have a Costco here in my area but my Sams club membership is only $45.

How convenient that she prefers not to use her every dollar app to keep track of things.

I definitely get them impression that they disagree a lot on what they spend money on. Cullen was all for not having the kids in extracurricular activities for now and of course Katie had justifications.

Omg, you don't NEED to buy fireworks for the 4th of July! Go to any of the free places that put on a firework show.

They are just so privileged I just can't like I know it has been said before but it is just crazy how out of touch they are.

Cullen was getting frustrated and clearly is on board with cutting all these expenses out yet Katie just cannot get with the program. I guess losing their house and moving in with her parents is the wakeup call she will need.

Why are car tags so expensive in Alabama? Here in ohio car tag renewal for each year is like 70 per car? Do the tags last for longer than a year?

I thought they froze their credit cards into a giant ice block. I'm surprised they aren't already maxed out on the cards anyway, and making only minimum payment is going to take years to pay off. I remember getting a Lowe's credit card solely for the purpose of buying an expensive washer dryer combo on one of their 6 month no payment/zero interest promotions. We paid it off within the 6 months and canceled the card. Had we gone ahead with the minimum payment they requested, $45/month, the fine print said it would be paid off in 15 years!!

They do a ton of online shopping. They were even trying to get Gaines to spend her "work money" online instead of at a store. While their cards my be "frozen" in a block of ice they are still usable. So is PayPal, Venmo, etc...

Everything they do is for "show". Their stupid little coloring charts. Katie keeping their budget in a notebook like a tweenager. Hell, even a tweenager would probably use Excel.

I don't think they are struggling at all. I don't think there is a "debt disaster" either. They treat this whole thing like a joke while not giving up the things they really want. People who are truly struggling with debt don't behave the way they are behaving. Gift cards can be sold for CASH. If they really needed cash that's what they'd do with all those gift cards.

I'm starting to think Katie thinks it'll come her way without having to have to do anything for it. Like she gives money to Jesus....and God will provide - her life's motto. Cullen is different, he's nervous and feels it.

Even most brick and mortar stores and a lot of restaurants take Apple Pay. Costco does. The Chatwins showed then shopping at Costco and neither of them had their wallets with them, and they used the Costco app to pay. If they have their iPhone or Apple watch, they can even buy lunch at Jimmy John's, and y'all know how much they love that....
Totally for show. I just don't understand how people fall for their "sacrifice and humble yourself" BS. People are even commenting how "proud" they are that C&K have "changed so much", and how they are such an "inspiration". The only thing that's changed is their schpiel.

They eat them every damn night, and here is an awesome parenting idea; maybe just don't offer cheesy noodles as an option?

They are just plain noodles, not whole grain so they really aren't offering them any nutrients. They make all kinds of noodles made from vegetables you can find in any grocery store. They don't even try to make healthy meals. They probably think corn counts toward vegetables ever though it is pretty much just a starchy carb. I also don't understand why she doesn't give them the fruit until after they eat the rest? I would rather my kids eat fresh fruit than noodles with butter and cheese.

I live in Arkansas and we pay $30 a year per car to renew the registration/tags. Our property taxes for our cars is $300 a year. That due in March and has to be paid by October. If your taxes aren’t paid by October you cannot get anything renewed until they’re paid.

Noticeably Katie didn't like the fruit from the by the way really nice fruit arrangement her parents gave. She _said_ she would only eat some strawberries, and this on its own didn't sound completely true to me. Doesn't she like fruit? Weird. Who doesn't like melon if you like strawberries? And doesn't Cullen like fruit? Weird. It came a little bit across to me as ungrateful to put the fruit away in the refrigerator, I don't know but when I would get a fruit basket from my parents or a friend I would enjoyingly eat some fruit from it.

Did they say why there was no vlog yesterday? They are usually so full of excuses I am surprised there weren't 50 instastories explaining why they were just so busy.

Also, why is every week " mentally and emotionally draining" for Katie. She puts that in almost every post. Yes debt is stressful but a lot of their stress related to debt is self made. Going and getting jobs and eliminating expenses from their lives could easily take away some of that stress.

Awful, a real disgrace. No wonder poor Gaines is such a moody little tantrum throwing madam. They fed her mostly good food until she was around two. She was such a little sweetheart, then it all went downhill. I appreciate that they are pretending to be on a strict budget;), but at the very least they should buy organic eggs and milk for the kids. It has been shown to affect brain function in children.

I wonder the same thing - How is life so draining? They don't work outside the home. Their kids are in preschool/daycare. They barely make dinner. Many of us on here have two working parents and somehow manage to also get dinner on the table at night that's more than leftover frozen pizza or cheese and noodles.

K&C - talk to me when you're commuting for 90 minutes, getting home at 6pm, and trying to get dinner on the table by 6:30. You don't know what draining is.
