Unfortunately, at the present time, they cannot get second jobs. They will have to wait until the quarantines are finished and businesses get back up to normal. I think the same with Uber/Lyft driving. I thinking that will be suspended. Publix has stopped their delivery service where I live. We have a neighbor who is immune compromised so we had to shop for her because Public canceled delivery service right after she placed her order.
Glad they are saving/spending on birthdays parties, but they don’t have $20k for closing costs. Did they say the pump was covered by a warranty? She can justify all she wants. Birthday parties are just not in their budget right now.

Why would they cancel a delivery service? It seems like the smartest way to do groceries at the moment. You can leave the groceries a the door without even interacting with the person? and the person who works at the grocery store can wear gloves/sanitize after getting the groceries? no money needs to be exchanged, no interaction etc....

I don't get it either. Someone said it's maybe because they are sold out of stuff. But stores around here are still doing delivery via Instacart and Postmates, and if something is not available, you can't put it in your cart.

They had an offer on the house that was enough to cover their mortgage but not the closing costs, and the buyers couldn't come up any more in their offer. So they thought about getting a personal load to cover the extra $20k, and were immediately turned away from the bank the realtor recommended and told to try a credit union, who ran their info through the pre-approval software. Unsurprisingly, they were not approved for the loan. Except it took them about 20 minutes to explain this.


What I found interesting was they mention another unofficial "lowball" offer they bartered back and forth with the sellers on before realizing they weren't going to agree on a price. Having dozens of showings with only 2 lowball offers to show for it after 8 months really highlights how overpriced the house is.

As a side note: I really wish they understood that selling the suburban would save them over $1000 a month, and that alone should be worth whatever inconveniences being a one car household would be.

I am confused about this, could they not have gone down 20k in the asking price to cover that closing costs? I would rather lose a little or walk away with nothing if I was that much in debt and unable to afford my monthly bills. Whya re they so firm on the price if they cant afford the house and say they dont love it? Just wash your hands of the entire thing!

Either way they had to come up with 20k. If they reduced it they still needed 20k to pay off their mortgage.

You're not in the US, right? Because it's available for streaming on Disney+ now in the US, and as of March 17 in Australia, Canada, and some other countries.
But that's assuming that they have Disney+, which they probably shouldn't be spending money for. Although knowing their definition of "cutting back", they probably do have it.

It's just gotten sad at this point, there are no excuses to feeding your kids shitty frozen ultra processed pizza every night of the week. For two people who wanted kids so desperately they sure don't seem to care about their well being very much at all.

Alabama has joined most other States her in the U.S and called all school off for 3 weeks. I can't even imagine how much whining and complaining we will hear from them. Plus I am sure they won't practice social distancing either and will most likely take the kids to trampoline parks.

What will they do if those places close since they are breeding grounds for germs? I've read a lot of articles and they all say the same thing... We can stop the spread by just staying at home. If you have tv, YouTube, PlutoTV app, or streaming services as well as toys for your kids you should be fine. It might be hell but Cullen and Katie literally do nothing else all day.

I know. There is absolutely no excuse for them to be feeding them this way. They receive zero nutrients from food. What a poor excuse for two stay at home parents.

I hate how they say that Brookes and Gaines won’t eat beef, etc. because they don’t want to. The lengths they’ve gone to to get out of parenting is ridiculous.

They are almost 40 years old. They haven’t gotten it together and I don’t think they ever will. They make sure they eat home cooked meals every night and shove crap down their kids throats.

I still think they drink heavily at night, wake up late and do the bare minimum during the day. The more time that goes by, the more lazy and disgusting I am finding them. I think this is why they won’t get full time jobs. It wouldn’t fit into their stay up late/wake up late hungover lifestyles. It would require too many drastic (but very positive) changes from them.

I still don't understand how you can go from BLW to having kids who only eat chicken tenders, pizza, and cheesy noodles. Isn't part of the idea of BLW to get your kids eating different textures and eating mushy versions of the same things you eat? Their whole feed the kids crap and then eat dinner later thing goes against everything I've ever seen about nutrition, teaching your kids about food, socialization, etc. Family meal time is so important.
But I guess cotillion can teach the kids manners, and they can drink pediasure for nutrition, and as long as they are quiet while C & K drink, nothing else matters.
She really is the worst child psychologist ever. So many people Google you before hiring you. Can you imagine anyone looking to hire a child psychologist looking at her Instagram and YouTube, and going, "Oh yeah! She's got it going on! She obviously practices the things she learned at school with her children. Let's hire her!"?

They got an offer on the house that would have made them EVEN on the house! The only reason they didn't accept the offer, of which I cannot believe how unwise that is, is because of their estimation that closing costs would be $20k. I think this is too self-centered and short-sided. Your needs, Katie, are unrelated to the worth of the house, in principle closing costs are on you and should at least not be a deal breaker.

It only shows how truly desperate they are. I was thinking the same that they could ask her parents or sister but that the rift could have been over money so this wasn't an option. Then the reason the more they should sell the SUV, how much would that bring: $5k, 10k, 15k?? OR that she already asked her dad for advise combined with asking for money but he DECLINED so they had no choice but to opt for a loan, realizing the importance of the sale in the back of their minds. The reason they don't sell the car might likewise be that they are upside down or would break even. Maybe they are in such a dire situation that they were forced to make this unwise and short-sided decision, the sooner they sell, they save $2k per month on rent.

Though one thing's for sure, they are absolutely on their own, no financial support from Katie's family anymore. (Couldn't Cullen have asked his mom?) I think this got the whole debt disaster thing rolling in the first place. Good that her parents said enough is enough, one day, forcing them to change their lifestyle and starting to clean up their mess. Still, selling the SUV would have brought them a couple of times the profit of not having to pay $900, they could have at least started in December, add Gaines' gymnastics and it's more. If Katie would have been honest or genuine and have taken ANY sacrifice plus had informed and included Cullen earlier, and maybe the closing costs would have been $18k, I think they could have sold the house. I don't know her parents but maybe if they would have seen how hard she tries, they would have been inclined to lend them the last $5k needed.

Is $20k for closing really what it costs?? I’m in Canada and we’ve never paid that much. Only sold one house. Closing was a few thousand dollars. Does it depend on the cost of the house? What exactly is included in closing?

They are in trouble. This virus is going to change things for many many months. The economy will be in the toilet when this is all said and done. They should beg, borrow and steal to get that 20k. And take that offer. Then sell the suburban. And pay someone back ASAP with proceeds from the vehicle sale and the $1000 per month payment they won’t have to make anymore. Pull the kids out of school. Save another $1k a month to pay someone back fast.

They need out of that house now. Or they are stuck for a looong time.

I started to watch Cullen's YT interview with his newly retired mom. He was asking her what she planned to do, how retirement has changed her daily schedule etc. She explained she still gets up at 5 a.m. to get ready for the day as if she were going to work. This way she gets things done and is productive. She talked about her week at the Fla beach house and getting their 2nd house cleaned out and ready for sale.

Cullen seemed surprised that his mom was able to retire at her relatively young age. She explained that she had planned all during her work years so they could retire and be financially comfortable. They invested in rental property to have a second income. "You have to be financially responsible to prepare for later, but you know that now." You could see the look of shame on his face. I only watched about 10 - 15 minutes, but it is a video that hits home for Cullen at least.

In a few years they're going to be like my niece who eats hot dogs and chicken nuggets and mainly fast food and frozen meals and has seen a nutritionist, but my SIL complains about the changes they suggest such as making her eat at the table and trying new foods no matter what, not just the same 3-4 things.

Right now it feels even more important for kids to be eating fresh fruits and veggies to help strengthen their immune systems.

We stocked up and I prepped all the veggies and put them in a lazy susan so the kids can just graze on them all week. It only took a half hour of that to wash them all and cut up the fruit.

I know some kids can be picky and mine resist eating meat as well but I try to supplement with veggies that have high iron. We don't have chips, goldfish, or cheese puffs even as an option for them. They get pancakes a few mornings a week but even then I buy the protein pancake mix. Their kids are at the perfect age to make the appropriate changes to help them eat healthier.

They are such a sorry excuse for parents that clearly only put forth the bare minimum.

That's what Katie said. I'm also not in the US but yes closing depends on the price of the house because of broker commissions that are a percentage, plus there are notary costs. Reason the more they should lower the price, their house should be more like 550k I think. I would lower the price to 10k more than the previous people offered if I were them. At least.

This pandemic will force them to actually cook real meals when they are forced to stay in. Here in Ohio our Governor just closed all of our restaurants and bars.
