Phil and Alex: No Pregnancy Glow, a Food Baby to Show, and Editing Slow | Part 7
Re: Phil and Alex: No Pregnancy Glow, a Food Baby to Show, and Editing Slow | Part 7
I feel absolutely terrible for the baby because she is sick, but I do not feel sad for P&A! They claim to be Christians but yet they sit and play god over and over again with these IVF pregnancies. Their genetics aren’t a good match together. Either one or both of them were never meant to reproduce. They haven’t tried once or twice and it failed and they gave up. They’ve tried closer to 10 times and every time it failed. Sometimes that’s god giving you a message

As someone who has been down the infertility path and also having medical issues that had risk involved, if I were in their shoes, no way in hell would I try to have my own. Combine the risk level from having a parent with CHD to this: https://www.bionews.org.uk/page_96271Celia wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 2:48 pm So I know I’m going to sound heartless here, but do you think they ever think that maybe this is God telling them they aren’t meant to have a bio baby? All these Christian youtubers harp on and on about Gods plan, but Phil and Alex have done a million and one things to go against what is “natural” for them. I have no problem with IVF or anything people want to do, but for as much as they talking about “listening to god” they sure do seem to only hear the answers they want. They were given two BEAUTIFUL, special girls, and they continued to be greedy. I want nothing but the best for the little girl Alex is carrying, because she’s here and I would never wish ill will on a child, but come on. Both of these people have fertility problems. Phil clearly has genetic issues he’s passing on. Sometimes nature just knows. Is that fair? No. But that’s life.

The risk levels are WAY to high. It seems almost guaranteed that the baby would have a CHD. Why would you purposely do that to a child? If you really must have a bio child, use a sperm donor, or adopt an embryo from a couple with no CHD.

How sad that this happened. I hope this puts an end to their ridiculous pregnancy and ivf attempts. It’s not meant to be. Sometimes God is saying NO.
They better be making plans to secure legitimate housing with family nearby for help and health insurance. Goodbye RV life. You can’t be roaming around the country visiting malls in a broken down RV with a newborn who needs extensive medical care. Not gonna fly.

This news is very sad, but having said that, as someone else has commented - filming it? Phil looking so ill with the news, and Alex weeping properly this time. I see they have restored the comments. I hope they do get a house, abandon the RV, and at least live near one set of parents, so that the parents do not have to make the very frequent helping out visits they have done for so many years.
Kinsley and Callie are going to be even more neglected, despite the fuss Alex makes for the vlogs.

What’s their health insurance situation with neither of them working (I live in a country with universal health care so I have only limited understanding of the US health system)

Re: Phil and Alex: No Pregnancy Glow, a Food Baby to Show, and Editing Slow | Part 7
Wow, I have to say I’m surprised. I feel for them during this time, and especially for their daughter.
A good friend of mine has a two year old who was diagnosed with CHD around the same point in her pregnancy. They have a rough road ahead, but thankfully they caught it now.
Also, even I was baffled when they were saying that the testing should’ve caught this. Isn’t that exactly what CHD is, a heart DEFECT? So if there’s no heart formed when they’re testing it, how could they see it’s defective??
Pretty sure Alex’s hopes of a birthing center/unmedicated etc are gone as she will most likely have a planned CSection now, and for breastfeeding will be having to cope with baby in the NICU which nobody wants to go through.
Like others are saying, I pray this is a wake up call for them and they are prompted to settle down near a good hospital.

Re: Phil and Alex: No Pregnancy Glow, a Food Baby to Show, and Editing Slow | Part 7
Another sign from the lord that these two weren’t meant to have biological kids. It always seemed to be more about the pregnancy than the biology (but we know that’s a lie) but seriously- didn’t their genetic counselors tell them how dangerous this was? They pray and they pray but Jesus isn’t giving them a healthy baby.
And yet they’ll implant all the other embryos, and have a big group of special needs babies if any of them “stick”.
I have a feeling this is going to be rough on their marriage. You can tell Alex blames Phil, and he blames himself. They’re a mess.
My biggest concern, however, is their two girls. I know a family with 3 kids, and one of them is their special miracle baby who survived the NICU, and being on ECMO, and all sorts of things. That child is perfectly healthy now, but they treat her like she’s made of glass. They let her have her way. They constantly remind her that she nearly died as an infant. They never stop telling her about her story and how special she is... and the other two (younger)kids are cast to the side.
Phil and Alex’s baby girl will be given the gift of favoritism because she’s the baby, the bio-kid, the IVF miracle, and the NICU warrior.
I bet they’ll give her a name that means “heart” or “brave” or “strong”

Re: Phil and Alex: No Pregnancy Glow, a Food Baby to Show, and Editing Slow | Part 7
From what info I read online it seems that CHD does not require a c section, however the baby will be immediately taken to the NICU For monitoring and will have surgery scheduled almost immediately.Here_2_talk wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2020 4:36 pm It’s 50%. The rates are really high when the parent has the condition. They knew it was coming. They just chose to ignore it. I’m surprised they haven’t used their favourite phrase “it’s us, Phil and Alex, of course the baby has chd!” Like they do whenever anything upsets their perfect life plan of the perfect boy bio baby.
Alex is the same woman who declared she would without hesitation transplant the Trisomy embryo, and they will pray and see what happens. This is you Alex, you can’t cope with much more, please for the love of god, stop the RV, find a permanent place and spend as much time with your two girls now, cause you’ll be away from them so much once baby is born.
Also, no more birthing centre. I wonder if she’s be advised to have a c-section.

Re: Phil and Alex: No Pregnancy Glow, a Food Baby to Show, and Editing Slow | Part 7
I agree it seemed bizarre they were shocked nothing came up in prior testing. Genetic testing only covers a panel of certain genetic disorders. All of our genetic testing came back low risk however we discovered at our 20 week anatomy scan with our first daughter that she had a congenital birth defect. Many defects and disorders are only discovered at an anatomy scan because it looks for structural abnormalities- not disorders/diseases that can be detected in blood. You would think Alex would know this.... I think they were probably warned and were in complete denial.wildwild94 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 19, 2020 5:35 am Wow, I have to say I’m surprised. I think from the way Alex was talking prior to the appointment, outside the RV, in the car, she's had an incling for a while. It seemed like an odd conversation to have, as if it was the first time they had talked about it.skiingmama1 wrote:I agree it seemed bizarre they were shocked nothing came up in prior testing. Prediction: in 1-2 years Phil will “decide” (read: it will be Alex’s idea that she pushes on him but he will have to claim it as his idea to minimize Alex looking like a douche) to have Alex pursue IVF with sperm donation so that they can grow their family, but really so Alex can re-experience pregnancy the way she wanted (healthy baby, birth center, breastfeeding, etc.)

I think they’d do an embryo adoption (hopefully) because it fits in a little better with their story. I can also see them being uncomfortable with a donor.RobinSparkles wrote:Prediction: in 1-2 years Phil will “decide” (read: it will be Alex’s idea that she pushes on him but he will have to claim it as his idea to minimize Alex looking like a douche) to have Alex pursue IVF with sperm donation so that they can grow their family, but really so Alex can re-experience pregnancy the way she wanted (healthy baby, birth center, breastfeeding, etc.)
But I fully believe they will continue to implant all of their defective bio-embryos anyway, because they think it is killing a baby to not implant them.

They DEFINITELY knew before this appointment. In the first 30 sec of the vlog she says “ok... it’s YOUR heart condition and you’re not nervous.” To Phil. There are many different types of CHDs, so to say it was his condition they were looking at means they definitely had more than just an inkling going into this appointment.FlowersTar 68 wrote:I think from the way Alex was talking prior to the appointment, outside the RV, in the car, she's had an incling for a while. Why can’t they just be happy with Kinsley and Callie? Why this need to try so hard for a bio child? They got their family already.

Could alex be any more of a drama queen. Yes its a huge diagnosis, but not completely unexpected. If phil survived this 30+ years ago and has lived a relatively normal life since, then surely this baby’s life expectancies is better than his odds - given the advances in technology.
The staging of the camera in the room, the water bottle being moved between shots cos heaven forbid it blocked alex from the camera shot! Her blubbing into tissue after tissue while phil banged on about HIM - not this poor innocent baby, about how this affects HIM!
Phil, Alex - i think your god is trying to tell you something. Try being grateful for what you have. Two amazing daughters. TWO! Thats two chances to parent that most infertility couples will never have. Two chances. Two birth moms saw you as their daughters BEST choice (hell, who knows why?? I wonder if they have regret?? I sure would!).
A biological child isnt the be all and end all. Not one that is going to have ongoing medical concerns.
Great vlogging content though, youtube gold.

Re: Phil and Alex: No Pregnancy Glow, a Food Baby to Show, and Editing Slow | Part 7
I saw somewhere when a parent has a CHD, a baby has a 50% chance of having one. Then I read studies have shown IVF increases the risks of CHD by up to 44%. With odds like that I truly believe the universe was trying to tell them something. I never would have even tried for a bio child. I may consider embryo adoption to experience pregnancy and birth, but a genetically biological child....nope. Not going through hell to be a parent to give my baby a defect that has a significant possibly of death and requires severe medical intervention. And add that they have said it was a miracle Philip survived. Nope.PinkMoscato wrote: ↑Thu Mar 19, 2020 11:40 amI think they’d do an embryo adoption (hopefully) because it fits in a little better with their story. Vlog: OUR WORST FEAR Congenital Heart Defect (CHD) Fetal ECHO
Time stamp: 10:49
Phil: ''Quality of life would be affected''
Ales: '' NO, It wouldn't. Your quality of life isn't affected. it is the same thing you had''
Phil is just staring her...
WOWZA.. Alex is here totally overriding/disgarding Phil's experience. If Phil says that quality of life would be affected, I would take his word on it. ALEX, He is the one with experience on this.
I think small snippets like this show how Alex is not actually listening Phil and validating him. It is all about her and her baby.
I was in a relationship in which the person was constantly invalidating my experience and telling me what i'm feeling when I said opposite... It ain't nice...

Omg I’m glad I’m not the only one who couldn’t stand her over dramatic hysterics. Like I totally feel for any parent in that situation and hearing that news. But she’s throwing her hands up and bawling her fists and I was almost about to laugh at how absurd she was being. I felt like at least Phil was having a normal non dramatic reaction and you could see this pained him without the acting.Haulnarse wrote:Could alex be any more of a drama queen. It’s how she was taking the pregnancy test. She turns it on and off and it’s so bizarre.
