I've read that many books during holidays if I haven't had anything else to do. Especially if they are YA fiction etc, you can finish them easily in a day.
How many books have you read ?
I do believe that you can read a lot of books when there's nothing else to do but her sounds suspicious especially that thick one.
I couldn't possibly count them, being an adult who has always read a lot. Sometimes I'll start reading in the morning and read all day, with only breaks for food. If she's doing the same then it's believable. At uni we would have about two novels a week to read, and they would often be fairly weighty.

As others have commented on her not liking TKAMB - I really disliked it too. It made me feel very helpless - at the end of the day their goodness still doesn't make things right. In uni when we discussed classics there would always be at least one person who disliked each novel.

I was sad that Julie clearly had a book in her hands that she never talked about on camera. I assume it was cut to make room for Ruby to try and explain the plot of a book that she hasn't even read.
Ruby always does this to Julie to make sure Julie feels she's not as important. Julie is still a scapegoat. One could see the confusion in Julie's face.

I was referring to an amount during 15 days 😁
I used to read a lot and went to college so I know the process.
The only way possible would be if one had absolutely nothing else to do all those days.
This girl has been studying from home/with homework, while dealing and taking care of her siblings when her parents were gone. When you're studying you also have to take in what you're reading and learn from it, that's a process on it's own. She also vlogged for her channel.
The books she brought for the vlog with Ruby looked heavy to read one per day with everything else going on. It doesn't ad up for me.
Shari reads a lot of books but I suspect that she skims through most of her books without understanding them because its all about the amount.

She'll struggle in college if her attitude don't change. It isn't only about reading and taking notes. It's more about teamwork and an ability to think outside the box and see things from others perspective. University/College are preparation on how do deal with others in real life at the workplace.

I can see how TKAMB would make one feel as though one family's goodness is useless in the face of all the evil in the world. But something tells me that isn't why Shari "hated" it. The lack of empathy in her extended family leads me to believe that she doesn't understand why Atticus would defend Tom, or what he means when he tells Scout she needs to walk around in another person's skin to understand them. Maybe I'm wrong. But a book that espouses empathy and talks about the evils of racism seems like it would be lost on Shari, whose family doesn't value empathy, and who lives in a very white bubble.

I wonder if she doesn’t understand the historical/political significance of the books she’s reading. I think it definitely takes some understanding of the time period the books were written to fully appreciate them.

I might be looking it from another perspective
culturally. I've noticed that cooking in the USA is different from many other countries and how we preseve food. Maybe it's to much, to early to expect that from an American teen.
I just realised that if she's supposed to move out at 18 and get married somehow inbetween and live on her own I think it's in her own interest to learn but she can eat microwaved food also it's not a must to cook but then, she wants healthy food.
I hope Ruby doesn't kick her out at 18 because I don't think Shari is ready yet.
I hope she’s ready to leave.
I’m quite disappointed that she chose to go to BYU where her father teaches and it’s surrounded by all Mormon people.
I don’t even think it’s a good school.
If she’s so brilliant why not take SATs? Why not aim for Ivy League? Her parents can afford it for sure!
She could have BYU as her safe a school but aim to go Ivy League or some other great non Ivy League school. Idk.
I feel that if she went out of her Mormon bubble she could choose her life path being better informed. Like truly have a choice.
If she goes to BYU she is just going to get married and have many children and be a vlogger (who knows for how long YT will be a thing) and repeat all the same mistakes of her mother and grand mother and so on.
I’m disappointed. She should be brilliant.
She talks a big game about going to NYU for law school. But in the end she made the safe choice to stay in her bubble. And Ruby said Shari had read "all the books for a first year law student", which I call BS on as well. Maybe she read some list that's recommended for people who want to go to law school. But not "all the books read by first year law students". Sure she could read 14 books in 15 days. But I guarantee they weren't War and Peace. Ruby likes to brag about how smart Shari is, but she doesn't want her to actually use her brains.
And I don't think she will end up in law school, because critical thinking is so discouraged in their family. Ruby is already planning on grandkids in just a few years. Shari is brainwashed, and will probably marry some returning missionary and start popping out babies. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

Since she has been at private school she has struggled and her grades have gone down. She is definitely not as smart as they use to brag about. And Ruby has said in the past that they will not be helping the kids pay for college.
Shari did say she didn't want to go to college too far from home. As far as BYU is concerned, she will get quite a discount because dad works there. Did Ruby really say that they won't be paying for their kid's college even with the discount?
I’m currently applying to law school and work with a dozen law students. You don’t really read books in law school, you spend most of your time reading case law which I’m sure Shari hasn’t read. Yes the constitution is read for con law but it’s all focused on case law. Just because Shari likes books about government doesn’t mean she’s carrying around the case law that you’re required for law school. In her video about packing for the new house Shari said those textbooks about the constitution was really for her ego and she never actually read them but Ruby said she read them all. She truly tries to push a narrative that Shari is a genius when she’s actually just a normal high school student who could potentially go to a top 100 college if she wanted.

I have read a book a day for several days on a lot of occasions, and that even includes having other things to do. I do find it odd that people automatically doubt Shari's ability to do anything. She isn't a genius, but you don't need to be a genius to read and take in information.
I do think some people are pretty quick to lay in to a CHILD.

When Ruby and Eve were laying in bed and Ruby asked Eve to repeat something she said, Eve said she didn't want to repeat it. Ruby did, and it made me a bit sad. Why can't she respect her kids wishes? It was a silly thing, nothing really important but the fact that she wanted Eve to repeat it in front of the camera, something she said to her mum in private made me feel really sorry for the girl. It's like Ruby much prefer to have views rather than have a mom-daughter moment. Eve is still very young and she still wants to cuddle with her mum. I don't think the older kids want it because they already know Ruby is going to record everything they talk about.

(sorry for my bad english, it's quite hard to express feelings in a foreing language hahaha)

I completely agree. It was also Eve admitting to her manipulation behaviour (not her fault, but bad parenting) which makes her look bad. In years to come, Eve will still have this on record, and it may affect her self esteem.
Ruby really doesn't know how to relate to her kids, and the poor girl clearly wants time with her mum rather than with a camera shoved in her face.

Anyone who isn't illiterate can read many books that's not my issue. I just don't believe she read all those books in that amount of time, 15 books in 14 days, with everything else going on while taking care of her siblings and dealing with homeschooling. Her situation was unique so it doesn't ad up.
Ruby and Shari just exposed themselves that's how I see it. I believe the other font. Ruby has been selling this image of Shari being SMART but she's just average, which is fine. I actually think Chad is smarter from what I've seen but he doesn't fit the narrative.

Does anyone know what happened to her boyfriend? She was eager to show him and then he just disappeared?

Again, I've read that many books in that amount of time on several occasions. She's only having to do about two hours of school a day, so I don't see why you think she couldn't do it? On her most recent video she's mentioned some very short books (Jekyll and Hyde etc) so it ties in.
I think Shari is likely slightly above average academically because she's a people pleaser. I don't think she's a genius, but not stupid either. She'd be in class two out of five for example.

You keep comparing yourself to her situation.
When you read all those books. Were you alone at home for 10 days taking care of your siblings catering to their needs, doing yours and their school work from home? Neither of her parents can even manage that much work.
I don't believe that school is only 2h. It may be 2h listening to the teacher online the real work comes afterwards, through homework and reflection. You went to school and know that. Its not only about those hours you spend in class listening to the teacher, that's the easy part.
I might have believed her in another situation. But she was doing all that and vlogging for her channel and 8passengers. Sorry but its not realistic but we don't have to agree. You have the right to believe her, it just doesn't add up for me so we just have to agree to disagree and move on.

Can we please stop this Shari book discussion? It's tired at this point and who really cares if she was lying or embellishing or really does just read fast? We know Ruby and Shari have a history of trying to make Shari look studious and like a genius, it isn't a surprise they would state something like this on camera. Maybe she did read them all cover to cover, maybe she's in the process of reading them, maybe she pulled them off a shelf for the video, either way it's a dumb thing to brag about and a dumb thing to argue.

I just feel bad for Julie trying to show her book she's read and getting run over by Miss 'i've read 15 books in 14 days' next to her. It's so hard to not compare yourself to that, I hope she knows it's quality over quantity when it comes to effort in reading and comprehension, and I hope Shari learns that as well, especially before college.

The only thing her stupid chart says to Eve is if you don’t do the things in the heart I won’t love you! So imbecilic!!!! And who uses language like selfish and irresponsible to a six year old that won’t pack away her pjs? The only selfish and irresponsible person is Ruby!

This x 100. She has basically made a chore chart and trying to disguise it as self love! Just extraordinary. Poor little girl. Yes of course we want our children to help with tidying their stuff away but this is just taking it too far.

That's still a really bad prank to pull on your kids. They might have been excited about going on a vacation only to have their hopes shattered. That's emotional manipulation, just like Ruby uses on her kids.

I haven't watched many of their videos recently but I remember that she only left the house to go to the temple and go shopping.
Why do she keeps complaining that her life has completely changed because of the virus? I don't see many changes

Wow Ruby, so what's your purpose with your kids? Nothing about them. All about Ruby. Understand your identity as a woman? HUH? :? Your distractions have become your purpose! Why on earth would you film the meeting you had with your husband? Some things are better left unfilmed! GOOD GOD!!

Your little chart isn't teaching Eve to love herself it's teaching her to do chores. Half of which YOU should be helping her with.

She's already fulfilled her purpose to the children.....she gave birth to them.....that's all.
