That was some of the most self-righteous, pretentious, MANIPULATIVE bullshit she did with Eve I've ever heard. Truly revolting. I guess she hasn't chosen being humble as her "purpose".
Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
Kevin, you don't choose to be the provider for the family you do that because you have too and also no tea not shade but Ruby probably makes more money than you off of YouTube
Ruby, you should strive to be admired by your kids for something that you do otherwise how are they going to learn how to say be a good parents or a good cook for example
Ruby and Kevin, eve is only 6 you should still be making lunches for her that shouldn't be a responsibility left up to her at such a young age. What would happen if she decides to cook something one day when nobody was watching her and she gets burned?

I completely agree. The language used was so emotionally loaded and manipulative. I also know that if you want to use a behaviour chart, you should be picking about three targets for them. The way Ruby has done it, Eve could achieve nineteen things out of twenty and still fail. How is that going to help her self love?UKhousewife wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 10:53 amThis x 100. She has basically made a chore chart and trying to disguise it as self love! Just extraordinary. Poor little girl. Yes of course we want our children to help with tidying their stuff away but this is just taking it too far.Parktown wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 7:05 am The only thing her stupid chart says to Eve is if you don’t do the things in the heart I won’t love you! So imbecilic!!!! And who uses language like selfish and irresponsible to a six year old that won’t pack away her pjs? The only selfish and irresponsible person is Ruby!

Her current vage psycho-babble phase has reached new heights. - Poor Eve.
Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
Like people can’t go around pretending to be doctors and doing surgery on others, the same reason should apply to psychiatric occupations! Ruby has no right to mentally mess up Eve and her youtube audience when she is one super uneducated babble mouth and nothing more!
Kevin PHD professor must see how very dum she is or there is an issue there for his lack of reactions!

I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in child/adolescent developmental psychology and I can tell you that most of what I learned and the papers I wrote were based on peer reviewed studies. Not some binders that I got through in ten weeks written by someone who spells connections with an ‘X’.
GIANT DIFFERENCE between life coaching/psycho babble and actual clinical psychotherapy and counseling.

Same, I work in research not clinically but... April and Davey have a chore chart and I don't think it's perfect but Ruby could have just copied theirs!Manitowoc123 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 5:50 amSo true!! There are plenty of online printables with text and pictures which have reasonable age 6 goals.
i.e. get dressed, make bed, get ready for bed when mum/ dad tells you (i.e. child independently changes to PJs, parent then supervises teeth and bedtime story/ prayers), clear plate from the table/ lay the table for dinner.
Everything else at 6 is based on doing what you are asked i.e. doing it the first time you are asked.
With things like school bags and coats you need to have a place where these go that are appropriate for your child's height (same with their closets!!). If you want everything hidden like a show home that doesn't really work...
I don't see how it's teaching Eve to love herself if Ruby boasts about how long it has been since she showered or that she hasn't brushed her teeth.
Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
I can’t with all these life coach diagrams she makes to explain the most basic and simple concepts to other adults? Surely most adults already understand this stuff, it all just seems so shallow and surface level. What she really needs to take is a course on self awareness. She seems extra unaware of her privilege lately. Of course she doesn’t mind having her kids at home...she doesn’t have to work and pushes any responsibilities onto the older kids. Must be nice to live in that bubble while other people are struggling and risking their lives everyday.

Ruby is such a genius, she won't take the responsibility for her kids being bored, so she says, "I'm sorry your're bored," or, "You're bored, what are you going to do about it," and presto, the kids figure out something to do on their own. She is genius!!!!! No parent would ever think to do this. She should write a book on how to not be a victim mom, and do anything for her kids. By the way, nothing wrong with telling your kids to figure out something to do when they are bored, just the way she presents this in her vlog, she acts like she is so above to make her kids figure things out on their own, and it really isn't a big deal, except she does this for everything and does not want responsibility for anything her kids need.

In instances like that she seems like she truly thinks she has figured it all out and all other moms are stuck being victims because they have not risen above it like she has. When really, she's either doing totally obvious things that everyone else has always had figured out, or she's refusing to fulfill basic parental responsibilities that better parents ENJOY doing to care for their kids or at least understand is their responsibility as a parent who chose to bring those kids into the world. But she'll never ever understand any of that. She's too far above us all!Happy+Charlie wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 4:54 am Ruby is such a genius, she won't take the responsibility for her kids being bored, so she says, "I'm sorry your're bored," or, "You're bored, what are you going to do about it," and presto, the kids figure out something to do on their own. Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
I just watched Shari's video about her cutting Abby's hair and Ruby completely insults her, but low-key, because she tries to offset all the insults by saying the haircut is "Corona-good" and "Good for your first haircut." As soon as she saw Abby she said the hair was uneven and acted surprised/offended. Can you imagine getting your hair cut and your mom reacting like that? Why not at least first compliment it like saying the length is nice before getting all nitpicky and saying it's uneven? It WAS good for Shari's first haircut, and Shari kept checking in with Abby to make sure she liked it, and she did. Ruby, if you don't want to be a "victim mom," just let your kids figure out these things themselves. Was the haircut perfect? No. Was it good enough? Yes, according to both Shari and Abby. They had a challenge and they successfully accomplished it. No insults needed. You don't get to be willingly uninvolved in your kids' lives and then insult the choices they make when they're happy with them.

I'm just wondering if Shari does a good amount of research before she does these videos where she tries new things. (Trying fake nails, fake eyelashes, shaving Chad's facial hair, baking a tier cake, and now cutting Abbey's hair.) I know some of you like Shari, and I do too so I'm gonna be careful about what I say. But it seems that in a lot of these videos, Shari has no idea what the hell she's doing and then is surprised by the bad result. The right side WAS in fact shorter than the other side, her hair was cut unevenly, and while it wasn't that bad for a first try, it would've looked much better if Shari had done a bit more research regarding how she could cut it so that Abbey's hair wouldn't be uneven.fossilfinger wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 10:49 am I just watched Shari's video about her cutting Abby's hair and Ruby completely insults her, but low-key, because she tries to offset all the insults by saying the haircut is "Corona-good" and "Good for your first haircut." Especially since there are tons of tutorials on YT showing how to do all of these things. I cut my daughter's hair, and thankfully she has lots of hair, and it's thick and very wavy. So it's forgiving.emma2948 wrote:I'm just wondering if Shari does a good amount of research before she does these videos where she tries new things. But. In Shari's defense, isn't it true that Ruby doesn't let her kids go on Google? So it must be difficult to research things. It's pretty hypocritical of her. If, as she says, her church is the One True Faith, and superior to all others, why is she so afraid of her kids seeing other ideas? Obviously, it's too much to expect her to monitor her kids on Google, because that would probably make her a "victim mother". If she actually had to spend time with them and help them research whatever it is that they want to research, her head would probably explode.

Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
I don't think that research would really help in this situation. Learning to cut hair takes a lot of practice and you can't learn how just by researching and watching videos. Even professionals sometimes still mess up as it's a hard thing to learn. Plus, it seemed like it was something that Shari and Abby both realized was just for fun and didn't expect it to be perfect. Since they're in quarantine Abby will have plenty of time to grow it out or get it fixed once the salons open, so I didn't think it was bad that it was uneven. I did think Ruby's reaction was kind of mean. It was obvious the girls were just having fun with it and didn't care if it was perfect. Also, hasn't Ruby messed up her kids' hair and eyebrows before just because she didn't put in the effort to do it right, so who is she to judge? What she should have done was get off her butt, get the scissors and patiently and kindly show Shari how to fix it and how it make it even. It's obvious Shari wanted to learn and try her hand at hair cutting. Ruby should have stepped in at the end and showed her what she did wrong and how to do it better next time and made it a fun learning experience, instead of just judging from her desk.emma2948 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 3:52 pmI'm just wondering if Shari does a good amount of research before she does these videos where she tries new things. I grew up in a large family and my mom cut our hair when we were younger (unless we were getting something major) and when we were older, we started cutting our own and each other’s. I would’ve been so discouraged if my mom reacted like that. It’s honestly a great skill to have! It just takes time and practice. I don’t know why Ruby, who clearly had more experience, isn’t offering to help and teach them.rulatows000 wrote:I don't think that research would really help in this situation. My mom was pretty checked out in a lot of ways, largely due to the sheer amount of kids, but I’m still astonished by how checked out Ruby is! My mom had 3 kids of her own, but we ended up with custody of some of my cousins and two kids my older sister used to babysit (both of which were odd situations). My mom has been a mom with kids in school for 25+ years and she still manages to get up and help my youngest cousin (11) make sure her lunch is made and hair is fixed. The rest of us are independent, productive members of society that understand responsibility and consequences. I know that was a bit of a tangent, but I am seriously so baffled every single time this woman opens her mouth.

Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
I think for a first time ever doing it, it was a decent job. You can't expect salon perfection on a first ever attempt. She repeatedly checked with Abby that she was happy. It's disappointing that Ruby sends out 'you're a failure' vibes to all her kids so regularly. She seems to judge them for not being able to magically do everything to the standard she wants, despite not bothering to help them. It's even more frustrating when we've seen her make similar mistakes and just laugh it off!Trip804 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 10:27 pmI grew up in a large family and my mom cut our hair when we were younger (unless we were getting something major) and when we were older, we started cutting our own and each other’s. That makes me SO angry! Not that I'm surprised that they would use clickbait like that, but seriously what the heck. Do they really think this is a joke?
