I’ve never heard of it, maybe it’s just their family’s choice to have one? Lots of US citizens travel abroad.eloise92 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 18, 2020 11:51 am Can a North American explain senior trips? I hadn't heard of it until Knorpp & South took their eldest to Iceland.
I know most US citizens haven't travelled abroad so what is a normal senior trip? Is it normal? If I heard the word I'd have thought it meant a trip away with your school year group i.e. the seniors go on a camp/ residential trip

A lot of my wealthier friends/classmates got to pick somewhere to go on a senior trip. I definitely wouldn’t say normal though.imoverit wrote:I’ve never heard of it, maybe it’s just their family’s choice to have one? This was my thought too, I'm in the US. I've heard of it from a couple acquaintances, and they travel a lot as a family, couple vacations a year, different continents, and the grad gets to pick the destination for their special trip. More typical in the US is a trip to the beach or other close destination with your co-graduates. I'm sure that sort of trip would be out of the question for Shari.Trip804 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 18, 2020 3:30 pmA lot of my wealthier friends/classmates got to pick somewhere to go on a senior trip. Statistically I think it's very few Americans who own a passport. In fairness, there's probably enough variation across the states to be able to travel loads within the country.imoverit wrote: ↑Sat Apr 18, 2020 12:00 pmI’ve never heard of it, maybe it’s just their family’s choice to have one? Is it an LDS thing? Because the Knorpps took their eldest on a trip to Iceland. I know people who took special trips after graduation, but definitely not everyone!Happy+Charlie wrote:This was my thought too, I'm in the US. I grew up in a pretty LDS area (in MT, not Utah though) and none of my Mormon classmates that I can think of did that, but almost every single one went on a mission after their freshman year of college, so there’s that. However, they were all quite a bit different from the Frankes in general minus their ginormous families.lmmomSD wrote:Is it an LDS thing? Because the Knorpps took their eldest on a trip to Iceland. I can picture Ruby’s head exploding dealing with Senior week. We call the seniors who come to the beaches after graduation, Junebugs. We cut them slack as long as they stay in their rentals at night. That’s their rentals not visiting friends rentals. Most are good kids.Happy+Charlie wrote:This was my thought too, I'm in the US. "She can't have Coronavirus because we've been very isolated" seriously?! Does the woman have memory issues? She literally travelled including through a hotspot a few days previously, so there's absolutely a chance she picked it up and made Eve sick. Luckily the poor girl doesn't seem too bad, but Ruby needs to own her reckless behaviour.

Plus wasn't Shari still going to the gym? And I am sure they went grocery shopping.Alycat_2001_uk wrote:"She can't have Coronavirus because we've been very isolated" seriously?! Not to mention the fact that the kids are always in contact with the workers. She even posted a photo of Eve alongside the worker in the bathroom and showed people delivering the bathtub inside the house!Alycat_2001_uk wrote:"She can't have Coronavirus because we've been very isolated" seriously?! Her concept of isolation is somewhat confused.
She said that Kevin is the one who goes grocery shopping because he has less contact with the children and then sends Eve to cuddle with him
I hope someone tells her that you don't need to have all the symptoms to be sure to have the virus.

Ruby thinks she has a new audience today, saying she's the one that handles everything for the kids, hahahaha.

I don’t think it’s an LDS thing, I think it’s a wealthy person thing. Not that you have to be super rich to travel, but at least at my high school most people did not go on a trip after graduation except for a few of the most wealthy kids.lmmomSD wrote: ↑Sat Apr 18, 2020 5:45 pmIs it an LDS thing? That's honestly such a cute nickname. I remember my school having a senior trip to Mexico. I didn't go on it because none of my friends did but I couldve.Ducklings4 wrote:I can picture Ruby’s head exploding dealing with Senior week. Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
Today's vlog just reinforces that this thread title is 100% accurate. Sure, Eve doesn't seem too sick, but the coronavirus symptoms vary. Some people get extremely mild cases while others get more severe, so I don't think they can completely rule it out. Also, assuming Kevin was being serious when he said he thought Eve had it, why is he going to the grocery store? If you have a sick kid exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 you need to self-isolate. The previous vlog showed Eve running around, hanging on everyone during their scripture readings, so Kevin is just as likely to have been exposed, that is, if he wasn't the one that gave it to her in the first place. Then, Ruby was really just going to send him out to the grocery store a second time for one thing? And don't even get me started on Shari sticking the thermometer in her ear after it had been in Eve's, saying, "I won't get sick from just one thing."
On a side note, does anyone else find it concerning that Eve seems to have a preoccupation with death? I feel like I've heard her say things more than once about 'When Dwight dies' and then today, "Some people's parents die". I know that Ruby probably scarred her with all the psychoanalysis she did after Nollie died, but that is still really concerning for a six year old to constantly be thinking about her pets or parents dying. When I was her age I was not old enough to have a grasp on death yet, much less to be anticipating when my new puppy is going to die.

Not sure what airport most of the European travel comes through, but that is why NYC has been hit so hard. The virus came through the airports then people took Uber, Lyft, or public transportation home or to hotels. I think I have mentioned my youngest works in NYC and came to us on 3/12. She has been working from our home for over a month. She did not leave our house for the first 14 days because she came from NYC. Yes NYC was shutting down on 3/12. We had already done a big shop worrying that the stores would close or we would be sick and need food. We did order Uber eats to support our local restaurants, we are a foodie destination and without tourists a lot of friend’s businesses have been hit hard. Now we are going to the store once a week for food, but only one of us goes.

Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
the way Ruby looks at the camera while she's reading Evie a story in the bathtub... It's so obvious she only does that for the views.
Coronavirus has a lot of symptons, and kids don't tend to present all of them. What they should do is to call their doctor and thell them what is going on, but instead, Kevin goes to the shop JUST to pick some popsicles? Really? I mean, more than 40k deaths in the USA, more than 700k infected people, and the man goes to the shop to buy one useless item!
They don't deserve the children they have.

Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
So because Eve was being whiny that meant she was being manipulative?? When I was that age and I was sick my mom would have made sure I took night time medicine to help me sleep, left a glass of ice water with a straw on my nightstand and told me to come wake her and my dad up if I woke up in the middle of rue night and felt worse. Instead poor Eve was rifling for ice cubes in the middle of the night and her mom decided she was faking because she was whining. Eve is still so little it’s totally normal for her to whine and want her mom while she’s sick.
