8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
Shari really did not like being told by Ruby that she couldnt touch the spoon to the chicken and then put it back in the jar. I think cross contamination was one of the first things my mom taught me when I started cooking meat. Shari’s reply of it is only used on chicken and it’s almost gone, followed by sulking proved it bothered her. She feels like she is an adult that knows everything. Sorry, Shari, you have a lot to learn.

How do people feel about how Amos Russell Wright being brought up in the last few videos?( DISCLAIMER: Listen, idk the history behind the man himself, he might've actually loved and served Native Americans for all I know, I just know what was taught to me). I mean for me as a person of color, Ruby telling Russel about how Amos "loved" Native Americans, when literally we've been taught white people have basically almost made Native Americans extinct. Also the fabrication and erasure of historical events throughout the years, for example, Columbus Day.
Sorry for my tangent, and please delete if not allowed. I guess what the Chinese government is doing to blacks and africans in China has this kinda hitting a nerve.

Wow! Ruby admitted to only being in the new house a couple weeks and flooded the one of the laundry rooms! She apparently left the sink on and forgot about it for 3 hours! This woman should never be left alone..I truly believe she has early onset dementia/Alzheimer’s...something neurological is going on!

Ruby must have read here, I noted that last wee (I think) when Shari put the spoon in curry. I'll have to watch and see if it's the same jar--clearly Ruby saw her doing it that day and didn't correct her. Not until it's mentioned on here, will Ruby do anything.tn37185mp wrote: ↑Mon Apr 20, 2020 8:36 pm Shari really did not like being told by Ruby that she couldnt touch the spoon to the chicken and then put it back in the jar. Julie is so terrified in today's vlog. She realizes that anything nice Ruby tries to do with her has some ulterior motive and will probably involve filming and embarrassment. It really is so sad that she seemed so uncomfortable just having her mom talk to her and she didn't want to do anything one on one with her. She was obviously thinking that Ruby was going to have 'the talk' with her on camera and had to be convinced that her mom wasn't going to do anything she was uncomfortable with.

Her saying that made me feel a little weird too. Like you, I don’t personally know much about this man, but given the time period and how Native Americans have generally been treated in this country, I side eyed that statement. Mormons are known to rewrite history to suit whatever narrative they want, especially when it comes to native Americans. I’m sure his “love” probably included a lot of rape..Jamie Love wrote:How do people feel about how Amos Russell Wright being brought up in the last few videos?( DISCLAIMER: Listen, idk the history behind the man himself, he might've actually loved and served Native Americans for all I know, I just know what was taught to me). It must be so difficult teaching Shari how to do anything. After watching Ruby’s Instagram story yesterday it’s so apparent how much Shari thinks she knows. Of course teenagers usually have this attitude, but it makes me wonder how Shari handles criticism and correction in other areas of her life, like does she get defensive in school when her teachers correct her? She might be in for a rough first semester in college. My first semester I had a professor who purposely graded harshly to knock us all down a few pegs with the intention of getting rid of bad habits and building us back up. Everyone ended up with a decent grade but it was definitely needed for us to actually learn. Learning it’s okay to be wrong and that making mistakes is a natural part of life that Shari absolutely needs to learn.

I feel so bad for her. She asks her mum not to film stuff and she's ignored. It's disrespectful to her to put such personal stuff online for anyone to see (I know it wasn't the actual talk, but everyone knows what they're meaning). I'd have been absolutely mortified.rulatows000 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 8:11 am Julie is so terrified in today's vlog. Anyway, it's really, really, really disturbing that Ruby talks to the camera instead to Julie when she's supposed to be talking with her.

So creepy the way they (vloggers) look at themselves/the camera when they are talking to their children. Bryan Lanning used to put his son on his lap facing away from him and talk to him through the camera. And then they wonder why the kids are speech delayed, or why kids like Eve seem emotionally off. Of course anyone raised by Ruby would probably be "off" one way or another.thatgirl_ wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 9:16 amThis! I wonder what St. Jennifer's mom was like. Ellie has mentioned her, and they talk as though she was some paragon of virtue and "womanly strength".
It really chaps me the way they _say_ they don't record the kids if they don't want things recorded, when you can see them actually saying "don't put this in the vlog". Bonnie is especially guilty of that. And even if the child says it's ok,you know there has to be tremendous pressure on them. "Do it for the vlog!". And even if there isn't overt pressure, kids want to please their parents.
These kids are going to need so much therapy.

Her children are never the audience, even when it is them she is addressing. When she was reading to Eve in the bathroom, Ruby is facing the camera, not Eve. If I was Eve, I would have told her to leave the room and read to Youtube, that's who you are doing it for. Ruby should listen to the song Cat's in the Cradle. YouTube will be long gone when she is an older woman, and hopefully her children will be smart and go on leading their own lives without her. She's entertained YouTube at the expense of her children.thatgirl_ wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 9:16 amThis! Yes but...Ruby doesn't know a lot, she has to ask Shari if they are still in quarantine. Shari had to be responsible for her younger siblings.Audrey3196 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 8:37 am It must be so difficult teaching Shari how to do anything. Yes in *this* case Ruby was right but honestly if I was Shari I would think "why are you trying to parent me now?".
I'd be interested to know how Shari reacts to people she trusts/ respects that they do know. We see her defer to various teachers/ coaches.

I'm honestly so proud of Julie though for even getting up and threatening to leave. I have a very strong feeling that if Ruby keeps this up, Julie definetely won't come back home to visit Ruby with her precious grandkids (cause you know the only reason Ruby had kids, was to have grandkids). And that Julie is becoming more independant day by day and eventually will get out of that constricited Mormom house of theirs.thatgirl_ wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 9:16 amThis! I definitely think Julie and Chad will be the most likely to break away from being Mormon from the kidsemma2948 wrote:I'm honestly so proud of Julie though for even getting up and threatening to leave. Glad to see Julie stand up to Ruby a bit by pointing out that even if it wouldn't be filmed, this is not a conversation she wants to have at a public place with other people nearby. I find it telling about Julie's relationship with Ruby that she was immediately uncomfortable with having a conversation with her without knowing what it would be about. She always assumes the worst in such cases and implied she usually assumes correctly.
Abby has been my favorite for a long time, partially since she reminds me the most of myself when I was a kid, but Julie is becoming a close second. She's basically a sweetheart like Abby but shows hints of Chad's independent/stubborn streak as well (hopefully more so as she gets older).

Um wtf I was so mad how ruby talked of eve when she was sick...why the heck would a 6 year old lie about being sick just for fun?
Kids will only act sick to get out of school. They dont just act sick for no reason...and they dont usually cry and whatever eve did...I don't get how ruby can even think that? Like there was no reason for even to fake being sick...

the way ruby tried manipulating julie into having the talk on camera and ignoring her when she asked her to turn it off was easily one of the most toxic things i've ever seen. I think we have hit a new low with ruby's parenting... she doesn't give a shit about whether her kid is uncomfortable or not, as long as she can get good footage for her vlogs. she is such a selfish bitch

I think YouTube and vlogging was a godsend for Ruby. She seems to be like a fish out of water when asked to join in with family life. She fusses over the really little kids because that's still all in her control, but as soon as they get old enough to have their own voice and not stick to the script she's lost. At least if she's vlogging she's back to being able to decide the narrative, because the viewers are silent. Watching the recent clips of the family all together, she looks so out of her depth.

Yes Eve was definitely sick, but also, Ruby basically admitted that the only time she takes care of her kids or acts like their mother is when they are sick. She made breakfast just for Eve, was actually present for her bath, and read to her (even though that was for the camera) - you know, normal things most parents always do, sick or not. So going forward I would not be surprised if Eve or Russell exaggerate feeling sick just to get SOME sort of motherly attention, which I can't blame them for, and is really sad.8onyoutube wrote: ↑Tue Apr 21, 2020 10:28 pm Um wtf I was so mad how ruby talked of eve when she was sick...why the heck would a 6 year old lie about being sick just for fun?
