Macaroons are made with coconut and meringue and are simple drop cookies. A macaron is made with almond flour and is a sandwich cookie.
VERY different cookies.

The ones with coconut are called "amaretti", the original Italian name.

Amaretti are made from ground almonds, egg white, sugar and amaretto liquor. They are Italian.

Macarons (which Shari made) are French. They are made how she made them/ variations on that.

Macaroons are originally Italian, but from a very different part than amaretti. It comes from ammaccare i.e. crushed coconut. They are made with desiccated coconut.

Personal: right after he found out that one of his friends had a gay mom, my son googled "how lesbians have sex". I saw it in the search history, and just asked him about it. I knew he wasn't looking for porn. He was curious, that's all. He was only 11 or so. I can see Ruby wigging out if she saw that in her kids search history.

So I want to the above website and scrolled down a bit to find a list that said, "Tips for keeping cell phones as safe as possible:"
The second "tip" on the list literally said:

"Disable all forms of Internet on phones. Call your provider to ensure that all Internet access is disabled."

By the way, this doesn't seem like a tip, seems more like a very strict list of rules that all mormons must follow. What are your guys' thoughts on this?
It just seems way too strict to me, like they are afraid of the kids seeing that there are different ways to live outside their bubble. Just personally, I would rather have my kids know that different people worship differently and explain why we believe the way we do. It seems to me that when they get out in the world, kids are going to have a lot of questions. But maybe they expect the kids to stay in the bubble.
Of course you don't want to allow unfettered access to the internet for children, but there are ways to go about that without just forbidding any access.
Mindy McKnight, Brooklyn and Bailey's mom actually wrote a book about "keeping kids safe on the internet", which is really hypocritical to me, because she has been pimping her kids out on the internet for years. And the ban on Google is hilarious because Google is the parent company of YT, and if other kids didn't have access, most of Ruby's audience would go away.
Explains why they need the silly cookbook. Can't Google recipes!

Yes, an amaretto biscotto is very different to a macaroon.

SO many Youtubers call them "macaroons".

Wait what? Why aren't they allowed to use google? What if they need it to research stuff for school? What about their google home?
They might be allowed to use it with Ruby there, but she has proudly said that she doesn't allow them to use Google. I wish I could remember the exact time she said it. But when they were on their road trip, she was going on about how proud she was of Shari for calling a museum to get the hours. She could have just googled it, but she wasn't allowed to.

Going back to the Middle Ages?! How backwards and inefficient. I didn't know this religion was this bad.

Kevin we don’t or at least I don’t want to watch you kissing your wife’s neck

Did Ruby really say frigen for refrigerator??

Kevin or Ruby help your child with math. At least Kevin since he’s a professor.
I didn’t do well in school because I didn’t have parents help me either and I struggled.

Does Abby and Julie share a bathroom??

Was Abby and Julie talking about the Holliens ( Meth house?) 😂

Kevin is a hypocrite and a bad husband. I have never trusted him and I'm sure he would go with another woman while abroad for work if he could.

Abby's birthday presents were so sad though I'm pleased she was happy with them. Books are good, but that's basically all she got because her other gifts were towels and command hooks. Ruby needs to differentiate between gifts and necessities. I'd maybe understand those gifts if they didn't have as much money as they do, but I feel bad for Abby.

I was watching an older video of theirs where the family was walking to church and Ruby and Kevin were explaining they were Mormon. They told viewers if they wanted to learn more to visit the church's website, and specifically said not to google it because there's "a lot of misinformation out there and people pay a lot of money for bad things to come up when you google the Mormon church". So, I think the no google thing is mostly about keeping the kids away from anti-mormon and ex mormon testimonies. I don't understand religious parents that don't allow their kids to question and explore theirs and other religions. I would think faith that is chosen would be so much stronger (and real) than faith that comes from brainwashing/scarring/sheltering a person.

I can't imagine going through school and even adulthood without search engines. I think learning how to effectively google/search is an incredibly valuable skill, as is learning to critique sources of information.

WHY DO THESE KIDS NOT HAVE BED FRAMES?
Ruby should be ashamed she does not (when she can afford to) provide these kids with basic things.
Giving your kid command hooks and towels for their birthday? Pathetic Kevin and Ruby. You are pathetic.

She said they’re getting new carpet, so they will after that because it’s easier to move just a mattress rather than bed frame, box spring, etc. it’s a great way to ruin a mattress with mold though.

Why aren't basic essentials given to these kids? Sets of towels shouldn't be a gift (maybe the bathroom decor could be) but towels should be provided and if they are getting so old that they are falling apart then Ruby should be getting more. I am glad to see that Abby got books, how old is Russell compared to Cody? He sure noticed that Cody put his "d" backwards so I wonder what his age difference is, I can't keep up lol.

Honestly I would rather listen to another whole video about Bonnie's sex life than watch Kevin kiss Ruby's neck for another second, barf.

It's shameful they have a 13 year old who is literally failing math. How do so many of their kids fail classes? Both parents have the time and the resources to help their kids to do their best and they just don't. Of course the child has to take initiative but that doesn't mean without ANY support from their parents! Abby is a smart girl and could be succeeding.

Abby, Julie, and Olivia are cute together. I really hope they all have friends outside of the family too!!

Failing a class really isn't the end of the world I failed math class in high school and still ended up graduating. I just had to go to study hall to make up a few different assignments. I don't think it's ecessarily a bad reflection on r&k's bad parenting. Some kids just aren't good at math.

I used to teach fifth grade and it was really sad for me to hear both kids and their parents say they "just weren't good at" something and had basically decided, at age 10 or 11 years old, that failing that subject FOREVER was okay. Some kids have learning difficulties and need extra support, but that doesn't mean it's okay to get an F. The majority of kids who get help and put effort in will not actually fail a class. It is actually really difficult to fail unless they're just not doing the work at all. Most teachers will give points for attempting and the kid will scrape by with a C or a D. There is no reason to think it's acceptable to fail barring extreme circumstances. If a kid fails math in 8th grade, that means they will probably fail it in 9th through 12th, too, since math builds on itself.

Why do parents think it's okay to set their kids up for failure early instead of getting them help?

True, but you do realise who her father is. He could easily help her. He has the means. There's no reason for her to fail with a mother at home and a father with that profession.

I'm sorry, but was that actually Abbey's "birthday breakfast?" It was kind of a disappointment. And you could see that Abbey wasn't at all impressed with those nasty scrambled eggs, especially with the look she gave to Julie as she proceeded to eat them (Around the 2:31-2:39 mark). When is Ruby do gonna learn how to cook?

Looks like all the kids but Chad are going to have a birthday vlog. Just don't understand why they continue to treat him so different! One of the classes with her life coach junk was on forgiveness-she needs to put it in action!

So Shari baked Abbey's birthday cake which I thought was really nice of her, but I can now bet that Ruby will be expecting Shari to make all her siblings birthday cakes from now on.

Also, Ruby says "You'll get to tell your kids you were thirteen and got quarantined, how many people get to say that?" I feel like this whole COVID-19 thing is just a story for Ruby, she's happy that it happened, because now she'll have a story to tell her grandkids.
