I just can't imagine being so terrified of my kids having knowledge that I forbid them to use Google. I had site blocking programs and monitored my search histories but I wasn't about to forbid my kids from seeking out knowledge.
Personal: right after he found out that one of his friends had a gay mom, my son googled "how lesbians have sex". I saw it in the search history, and just asked him about it. I knew he wasn't looking for porn. He was curious, that's all. He was only 11 or so. I can see Ruby wigging out if she saw that in her kids search history.

So I want to the above website and scrolled down a bit to find a list that said, "Tips for keeping cell phones as safe as possible:"
The second "tip" on the list literally said:
"Disable all forms of Internet on phones. Call your provider to ensure that all Internet access is disabled."
By the way, this doesn't seem like a tip, seems more like a very strict list of rules that all mormons must follow. What are your guys' thoughts on this?
It just seems way too strict to me, like they are afraid of the kids seeing that there are different ways to live outside their bubble. Just personally, I would rather have my kids know that different people worship differently and explain why we believe the way we do. It seems to me that when they get out in the world, kids are going to have a lot of questions. But maybe they expect the kids to stay in the bubble.
Of course you don't want to allow unfettered access to the internet for children, but there are ways to go about that without just forbidding any access.
Mindy McKnight, Brooklyn and Bailey's mom actually wrote a book about "keeping kids safe on the internet", which is really hypocritical to me, because she has been pimping her kids out on the internet for years. And the ban on Google is hilarious because Google is the parent company of YT, and if other kids didn't have access, most of Ruby's audience would go away.
Explains why they need the silly cookbook. Can't Google recipes!
