She is so manipulative and just wants to control everything her kids say and do.
My mom has sometimes said but then i got to a certain age where I was able to say "you gave up the right to it as soon as you gave it to me as a gift". I never got anything taken away growing up because I think deep down my parents knew that spending on what it was it could've been really manipulating for them to have done that.

I think parents should have the ability to take something away from a minor if they're abusing it (i.e. looking up porn on a computer or harassing people on a phone), but that's more to actually protect them than to just have power over them.

My dad still does the "I own all your things" to me sometimes and I'm in my 30's and have my own house. He bought me groceries and then when he was visiting started eating a bunch of my food without asking, and then when I told him to stop because it was my husband's food, he said, "I have a right to eat any of this food because I actually own it since I bought it for you." He also recently asked me how much toilet paper I had left since he knew I ordered some last month (with my own money) and when I told him I still had a lot left, he said, "Oh, we'll just live off yours, then," without even asking me permission to take a few rolls. And he wonders why I don't like him. That's not a great way to relate to your kids. But I guess Ruby doesn't care because she doesn't want her kids to like her, because she doesn't want to be a victim mom.
I don't necessarily think that looking up porn would be considered abusing it unless it started to get in the way if normal life. Trying to keep a teen from looking up porn will probably just make them be sneaky about it and have another phone or something they can use to do it. It might also make them assumed about their sexual urges that are normal. That's the tricky thing. Now I'm not saying let you middle school look that up but if you have a high schooler they were probably already finding a way to look porn up without you knowing.

I do genuinely believe that the rules Ruby (and other Mormon families) set for their kids phones are a bit extreme and restrictive. Like Ruby would've even let the kids have the internet on their flip phone which don't even really have working browsers anyways. I don't know I just don't think your parents should give you the freedom of a cell phone but then put all these rules and stipulations on it. That seems a bit manipulative and teasing them with actual freedom to me.

As for your dad, that's extremely weird and messed up. I mean my mom used to joke about going shopping at the family store at my aunt/grandma's house but they never minded her taking things she needed . What your dad is doing it taking what my mom did up a thousand levels. Like if they ever said my mom couldn't have something she respected that and didn't take it. Even with me at thier house I never really had to ask if I could have anything because they said "my house is your house" or at least hat was the attitude.

If I remember correctly (anyone correct me if needed), someone made a comment on Instagram to the extent of how can you not allow your grown child to come back if needed, things happen, sickness, job loss, etc. Kevin responded with something like, they have to figure it out, they should not be coddled.
I hope Kevin and Ruby never need help from their adult children in their old age. They're kids should simply say, "Figure it out. We can't coddle you."
Yes! They should absolutely do that!

When that Neil guy suggested a stain glass window (like the ones in the temples) and Ruby was like... "You can make it happen if you want, but I just don't have the budget for that." LOL what a liar. Ruby, we know your rich and we know you get whatever you want for yourself, so why not splurge on a stain glass window even if it's useless and stupid. We've seen you spend money on useless and stupid clothes you don't need, why would this stain glass window in your bathroom be any different?

Ruby: "What makes you think you can get a pan out and start cooking breakfast? What makes you think you can do that?"

What Russel should have said: "I just started cooking because I realized my own mother wouldn't cook food for me so why not do it myself."

Also, growing up, I didn't know many 8 year old kids who had to cook for themselves and be able to do their own laundry when they couldn't even properly reach the machine's buttons growing up. I hope that Russell will soon realize (as he grows up a bit more) that he doesn't really need his mom for anything as she's completely useless as a mother (in providing support in cooking and cleaning, caring for him, proper love etc).

So I've never had a dog before so please excuse me if my question doesn't make any sense, but does the dog have fleas or something? When it lies on its side and begins moving around like that, it looks to me like it's trying to scratch himself?

So Russel isn't allowed into Shari's room when she's filming because he'll make too much noise. But Shari also asks Ruby to leave and she doesn't listen. Ruby really likes to enforce rules but never follows them herself, does she? I wish Shari had stood up for herself a bit more against Ruby and been more serious when asking her to leave.

If 'Russell and Dwight had a shower' then it's possible that he used human shower gel or something and irritated the skin.

It does not fit her style of white and plain. If she wanted it, we all know she would have gotten one.

not necessarily. That's a pretty common behavior after a dog gets wet/has a bath. It's how they dry themselves off and get their scents back on them. Some dogs also do that if they are just *really* excited. If he was doing that while dry or it was a new behavior I'd be concerned about skin issues/fleas, but for just having a shower, it's a normal behavior!

On Ruby's instagram story she was fishing for compliments about her waffles and Julie said Kevin's waffles are better. Ruby seemed annoyed lol, and of course she then had to get Russell to say he liked the waffles more than Kevin's.

Yep, my dog goes nuts after every bath doing that! :D Plus I chuckled when Ruby said her couch was ruined after Dwight jumped up there while wet! No Ruby, do what we do-put something on it till Dwight is dry. Knowing her, Ruby will use that as an excuse to get another one!

Ruby: brags about her kids not coming to her when they're upset

Me: so you're so uninvolved now that you're kids are emotionally distant from you and you probably no longer even keeps tabs on your kids electronics which makes me feel bad for Chad and makes me think you sent him away for just being a normal kid

A lot of this is familiar behaviour from my childhood. What Ruby is doing is providing CONDITIONAL LOVE. Everything is hers, anyone can use is BUT she can take it away at any time. So if they also not show her the love she wants then things are taken away. Been through that with actual gifts my mother gave me. Or what others gave me she took away if I stood up to myself to her bullshit. My mum is a narcissist, never wrong and will never apologise even after physically abusing me, (only daughter) not even my brothers.

Isn’t it funny how everything is Ruby’s when she’s the only one in the household who doesn’t work to earn a paycheck 🤔 Kevin and the kids should say they own everything in her closet, see how she feels then.

„We are trying to be more frugal”. Isn’t that how it’s always been, mainly when it comes to the kids?

Today's vlog she told Chad they are cutting back on expenses and that he had to pay for his own bleach if he wanted blonde hair. Why does she treat him so different? He doesn't seem all that bad unless they're not sharing stuff. She doesn't cut back on anything else in that massive house. The landscaping and bathroom remodel is big bucks.

I wonder if the comments about them making Chad pay for his own stuff got to Ruby, so she's gonna choose her words more carefully. Now the answer will be they are trying to be frugal, "if you want to pay for it yourself......"

I got my answer about the birds pooping. Ruby says at the end, "we find bird poop everywhere." That is gross, especially when she can't keep her kids off the countertops.

I have noticed (maybe I've missed it in past) but she seems to have really relaxed on keeping the house free of clutter and picked up. Hopefully this has extended to the kids' rooms and they are not expected to keep them spotless.

In fairness, stained glass windows are VERY expensive (my folks live in a converted church).
