it's not only the ping pong table, which certainly would have been a good thing to get. The kids are basically locked inside, Ruby wants them off the electronics and they have hardly any toys (Eve seems to have been the only kid who had some, until Ruby decided to throw them away....), so a ping pong table would actually have been a great thing to get. There are very cheap ones on Marketplace and similar pages, so getting one would have been easy without spending hardly any money.

The thing that bothers me even more is the fact that all of the kids, except for Russell, don't have any furniture in their rooms. They have money to buy a huge house, remodel the master bath, including a 5000 $ toilet and tear up the entire backyard (which by the way I find totally fine, maybe I would have done the same thing, had I had that much money). But the kids don't even have beds. Since we all know that the lack of furniture in the kids' rooms has nothing to do with there being no money, it once more comes down to a huge control issue. Ruby and Kevin deserve an incredibly expensive toilet, before the kids deserve a bed. It is really sickening to watch. Ruby seems to be missing any kind of maternal instinct/feelings.
[/quote]

From what Ruby said. I think it was in a vlog.

They were able to buy the house without YouTube money.

emma2948 wrote: Tue May 12, 2020 7:25 am At the end of the video, when Eve and Russell rub their hands all over the toilet, Ruby doesn't stop them. Instead, she's like "Oh yeah its like super clean and stuff." Image Even though it was just used by literally most of the members in the family with their butts on it. Can she get any more disgusting? Not caring if her kids shower for days cause it's "cute" how dirty they get, and now not caring that they've literally rubbed their hands all over the toilet?
lets be honest here, when the toilet water was spraying all over eve and Russell, that was probably their bath for the next two weeks. they also probably didn't shower after that and just went straight under their sheets, spreading the water in their new beds. I'm genuinely curious, how do people like the Franke's amass so much wealth but are so undeserving of it at the same time? I know a lot of people who are struggling that would put 5k to better use than for a toilet and ripping up their back/front yards for no reason.
That question bothers me so much. So many "successful" vloggers contribute NOTHING to society. All they do is pimp out their kids, act as though they are gifting us with a peek into their lives (the fans help with that perception--"we should be grateful they put out content for us!"), exploit what should be private moments with their children, and watch the money roll in. And they act like what they do is so important, and they are so busy and work SO hard. And even constructive criticism is viewed as "hate". Not jealous. Although I wouldn't mind making more, or boating around the BVI, I am pretty happy with my life, and my kids know I love them unconditionally. I see nothing to envy. Our society is warped. I have this hope, since "influencers" are making less since the pandemic, that the whole "influencer" culture will die off. So many of them have a platform, hence the name "influencer". Yet almost none of them use it for anything except hawking deodorant or meal kits.
Sorry for the rant. Pet peeve.

Shari heard Chad singing in the bathroom and went to go film him outside the door, scaring him when he came out. Then he goes downstairs ad Ruby shrieks, "YOU WERE IN MY BATHROOM!!!" Poor kid, can't even use the bathroom in peace without having his sister filming him and having his mother freak out that he's not allowed to use 'her' bathroom.

Also, Shari mentioned how she was using her mother's credit card to pay for all of the prom supplies. I'm still not sure if I'm buying the whole 'it was Shari's idea' thing, but if it was her idea why is she allowed to use her mother's credit card for that? She even mentioned being the last one to use it, so is she just allowed to use it whenever she pleases? The double standards are just ridiculous, Chad has to buy his own clothes, but Shari can go on a shopping spree, buy anything she wants for their prom, and have unsupervised access to her mother's credit card. Lastly, this is what? The second vlog that has centered around Chad's hair? Ruby just has to draw out him getting a haircut for as long as possible to get the most views. Of course, he can't even use any of the money she's earning off of his hair to buy a bleaching kit. I bet Chad bleaching his hair would get far more views than their cringey prom, but just because it was his idea its not allowed to happen, only Shari's ideas make it to the video.

Honestly, Chad seems like a pretty sweet kid. Ruby just treats him like absolute crap because he seldom refuses to do whatever she wants him to for the videos. When he and Shari go shopping for prom supplies, he picks out a unicorn pinata for the kids, specifically Eve. Like what a sweet brother. I wish my brother was that nice to me?? I'm not surprised though that Shari shut down the idea as quick as it came, Shari is quite afraid of what Ruby would do to them if they did buy the unicorn pinata. Also, Shari IS turning into her mother, she keeps shutting down everyone else's ideas in order to control everything with the decorations. Would it be so hard for her to take one of Chad's ideas and go along with it? Maybe a pinata would be a unique addition to the "prom" that they are throwing at home? Some of the ideas Shari is spitting out are not stupid, but very basic decoration ideas. Plus, having to cut out individual triangles out of fancy paper, hole punch every single one of them, and putting a string through them before hanging them up on the wall sounds like a very tedious task, I don't blame Chad for giving that look to the camera when she mentions the idea.

"You can design my bridal shower." Julie says... I hope that if Julie genuinely wants to get married, she'll get married, but I hope it's NOT because Ruby or Shari are telling her that that's the only valid option for her.

I kinda love that he was comfortable enough to curl his hair. I feel like Mormonism teaches that a man doing anything that could be perceived as feminine is bad.

Disclaimer: I was wrong only Sheri got the surface laptop but still depending on how good of one she got it could've been more than a MacBook over top of 3 MacBooks.

I wonder why Sheri decided not to get an apple one

Nothing wrong with that. I think you are more ''ewww'' thinking there is something wrong with kid dancing with his cousin.
They are having party and having fun. They are kids. It is not a debutante ball.

I totally agree that Shari will turn into her mom. She does have some serious control issues which is one reason why they left the public school. Shari has acknowledged this and it's usually one step forward and two steps backward with her. I am curious to see how Shari will deal with these issues when she lives in a college dorm. Her roommates won't take it. Notice that she never has friends (Obviously easier to see before social distancing).

She's had to parent her siblings, so she's bound to be a little bit controlling. She's young though, and they generally seem to be easy around her, so I don't think she'll do too badly.

Might not have been so weird if the other vlog Deru Crew hadn’t forced Emma to look good for Russell by making her wear lipstick. Sorry..not sorry

The child's excitement at seeing his cousin and therefore getting to play with someone his own age is natural. The reaction of the adults (lipgloss etc) is what's weird.

Did anyone see Shari’s instagram story? She’s considering several colleges outside of Utah which is nice to see. I know if she gets accepted to BYU she will likely go there but it’s nice to see that she has considered getting out of Utah!

That's great and all but I wonder what lengths Kevin and Ruby will go to to prevent that from happening. In Shari's new college video (she asks Kevin a bunch of questions regarding college) and one of the questions she asks is what is the most important thing to consider when choosing colleges to apply to, to which Kevin responds, "Picking a college that is closest to home as you can possibly get is most important." . So clearly Ruby and Kevin do not want Shari to grow outside of her mormon/mountain culture and are gonna do whatever possible to manipulate her to make sure she goes to BYU. There's no doubt she'll be attending BYU, and she has her parents to thank for that.

I watched the video and I felt that all the Dad answers were meant very jokingly, so I didn't get the feeling at all that Kevin wants Shari to stay close to home.

Kevin and Ruby are unbelievable if they are going to coarse/manipulate Shari to pick BYU since it is closer to home, considering it sounds like she is on her own as far as paying for room and board after she turns 18. I know others on here comment that Shari will learn once she is in a dorm and living with others, but I don't think she expects to be in a dorm. She is already collecting things for a kitchen, so I'm guessing she will be in an apartment. I may be wrong, but seems she is setting herself up to be in something with more than just a bedroom and common areas. Also, has anyone else picked upon whether Ruby and Kevin cover college or the kids are on their own with it. Only thing I see wrong if they don't help is when will these kids get compensated for all the appearances on YouTube.
