Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
A lot of their older videos have been popping up in my recommendations and out of curiosity i've watched a few. It's INSANE seeing how genuine they used to seem versus now. They've never been overly nice to Chad and have always made Shari a mother figure, but as the kids are actually getting closer to being adults that needs to stop. I'm a university student myself, and i see kids like them completely go wild in college because they can. Not that I really see Shari rebelling, but Chad absolutely because his parents stole his childhood and are taking away whatever is left of it.
ALSO!!!! No hating on the kids, but Shari should NOT be allowed to go to the gym. Maybe Utah isn't quite as bad, but if other states can't return back to school until at least January, there's still something seriously wrong. Be careful, getting a big family sick isn't worth the workout.

I think shes stuck in their mormon bubble. I had hope for her when she was younger, but i dont see her being the one.
Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
If they are going down to 3 vlogs a week and not even announcing it, I'm really done giving them my views (and continue to watch on invidio.us). I have never been a fan, but what I appreciated about the 8Passengers, compared to Bonnie for example, was, that they used to talk with their viewers about these kind of changes. But when they went down from 5 to 4 Vlogs a week, they didn't say anything at all for weeks. I find that to be incredibly disrespectful and arrogant towards their fans/viewers. Their viewers are the ones who made them successful/wealthy and to just let them sit there and wait for a new vlog without telling them that their won't be one, just shows how little regard they have for their viewers.rulatows000 wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 8:48 amUgh, please tell me they are not going to start doing podcasts with just the two of them. I have seen other Youtube vloggers try to do these podcast things, like April and Davey and Our Family Nest, and they are always massive failures, barely getting any views compared to their vlogs and I could never watch more than a minute of them. No one watches 8 Passengers for her and Kevin, and especially not for her 'life coaching'. Just ridiculous that they think they're going to succeed with this. Side note, don't they usually upload on Fridays? No video yet, unless they're just late.Alycat_2001_uk wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 8:30 amMaybe show some care and compassion to your own family before dishing out your rubbish to strangers.

I'm willing to bet Ruby is adding Kevin because as a college professor, she thinks it will validate her giving opinion/guidance as a life coach. I agree with others, she needs to work on herself and her own family before dishing out the guidance to others. She's just going to screw them (strangers) up more with her bs. Ruby is just so full of herself.imoverit wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 1:24 amI don’t know but I’m sure he thinks he can be an expert on it without

I don’t think he’s interested in what she has to say. Have we seen them have a conversation? They’ve lectured viewers together but usually ruby and Kevin have slightly different ideas or points to the lecture. This working together and giving people advice won’t work together. And she shouldn’t be doing it either.

Looks like someone commented on Kevin's recent post on insta about him and Ruby thinking of starting their stupid podcast. They asked him how they compensate the kids for their appearances on YouTube.. and what a shock .. he didn't respond.

They said in an old video they feel the child id responsible for their own tuition. They also pay for their grades as a way to help them out for college tuition. This is another reason it is unfair Chad has to pay for his own clothes and backpack and has not much money left over.emma2948 wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 3:14 pmThey haven't said anything about helping the kids out with college (even though yes, the kids are the reason they make most of their money), so I assume they are kicking them out at 18 with whatever money the kids have on their own.Happy+Charlie wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 1:16 pmKevin and Ruby are unbelievable if they are going to coarse/manipulate Shari to pick BYU since it is closer to home, considering it sounds like she is on her own as far as paying for room and board after she turns 18. I know others on here comment that Shari will learn once she is in a dorm and living with others, but I don't think she expects to be in a dorm. She is already collecting things for a kitchen, so I'm guessing she will be in an apartment. I may be wrong, but seems she is setting herself up to be in something with more than just a bedroom and common areas. Also, has anyone else picked upon whether Ruby and Kevin cover college or the kids are on their own with it. Only thing I see wrong if they don't help is when will these kids get compensated for all the appearances on YouTube.emma2948 wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 11:39 am
That's great and all but I wonder what lengths Kevin and Ruby will go to to prevent that from happening. In Shari's new college video (she asks Kevin a bunch of questions regarding college) and one of the questions she asks is what is the most important thing to consider when choosing colleges to apply to, to which Kevin responds, "Picking a college that is closest to home as you can possibly get is most important." . So clearly Ruby and Kevin do not want Shari to grow outside of her mormon/mountain culture and are gonna do whatever possible to manipulate her to make sure she goes to BYU. There's no doubt she'll be attending BYU, and she has her parents to thank for that.

I love the comment about R &K being Youtubers playing psychiatrist. Why _anyone_ would seek advice from them on any kind of mental health issues is beyond me. Kevin can give geology lectures, but Ruby needs to cure herself before helping anyone else. The only advice I would take from her would be if I was trying to build a YT channel exploiting my children.

Okay for real, when they are using a child EXPLICITLY for an ad like in today's video or when they did the same with Abby, they seriously must compensate that child. I believe they should be compensating them for all the videos they appear in, but for ads specifically about that child, this seems imperative and a no-brainer. I really wish they would be transparent with their audience about how exactly they compensate their kids for literally working for them. There needs to be laws about this.

There differently should be a law. Which they don’t but even if they paid for everything.
When I found out from another vlogger how
Much one ad vlog paid them I was pissed. It’s more than I make in a Year. I work in healthcare
The kids better get paid even if it goes into a bank account and the kids can have access to it when they turn 18.
I just don’t get the logic of you have to pay for whatever clothes you want and things but you also have to save for college. How the H?? The kids won’t be able to apply for financial aid because of their parents income.

There SO needs to be laws protecting these kids. The laws haven't kept up with the technology, and any vlogger who thinks their big subscriber numbers and views aren't mostly because of their kids, are fooling themselves. Those kids should have a certain amount put aside in a trust, especially when they are used for ads. But no, Ruby needs to get a $5000 toilet, shop online, and go to England, and float around the BVI on a private yacht. The kids can settle for a road trip, and bloody well pay for their own college.imoverit wrote:Okay for real, when they are using a child EXPLICITLY for an ad like in today's video or when they did the same with Abby, they seriously must compensate that child. The Coogan account law needs to be extended to Youtube. it's there to protect child actors from their parents stealing all the money they worked hard to earn.

So, I think I read that Mormons believe a child is waiting for them in heaven. If this is correct, Ruby and Kevin must have put a special request in to receive children that will not mind being exploited for their parents' benefit; ones that will not mind being the caregiver to siblings; ones that will not mind working to provide for themselves after the age of 10; and, after you've made all the money so mom and dad can live a wealthy, adventurous, selfish life, you have to put yourself thru college, and be on your own at 18. Only if the kids agreed to all this from heaven does it seem right, otherwise, these 2 are such selfish entitled beings.

Notes from today's video:
1) As someone who use to actually have really awful acne as a younger teen (really bad cystic acne), everytime I look at Chad's skin, I think it's super clear (even in previous videos). Ruby probably just needed someone to star in her videos, and since she knows videos that star primarily Chad get the most views, it was a no brainer for her. Seriously though... Chad's skin is so clear??! Where is his acne that he needs to "clear?"
2) Wait why did Ruby blur out the chips package Chad was eating out of in the beginning of the video?
3) I like Chad and all.. but it's disgusting how he drank directly out of the milk carton and how Ruby filmed it and didn't say anything. If my mom caught me drinking straight out of the milk carton, she would probably beat my ass.
4) She complains about her kids eating junk... and yet continues to buy junk food at the grocery store and films him eating junk... #Rubylogic.

1) I was thinking the same thing! I guess she had to find another kid to exploit, since she already did a brand deal with Abby...emma2948 wrote: ↑Sat May 16, 2020 10:50 am Notes from today's video:

2) Because it's a brand deal, they're not allowed to show other brand names.
3) Definitely agree. But honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Ruby sometimes drinks out of the carton. Bonnie has shown herself doing it before, I can totally see Ruby or Ellie doing it too.
4) That drove me crazy too! Literally all Ruby and the kids eat is junk and it's all they buy when they go grocery shopping. Maybe she expects chad to buy his own food if he wants to eat healthier

Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
This is a very good point, I hadn't thought about the fact that because of their parents' high income the kids are not likely to receive any financial aid even if they are expected to pay their own way. It's a very common problem because financial aid is so tricky. So not only are the kids forced to be the source of income for their parents, they are at even more of a disadvantage because of the money they make, which is so backwards and horrible. BYU will be their only option, just financially! Which doesn't bode well for some of these kids who have at one point been failing elementary or middle school classes...
Yes they get to live in the nice house now, but in the long run they aren't getting what they deserve unless they are getting their fair share of cold hard cash (no Ruby, one turn on your robot toilet per week does not count). But I guarantee you Ruby and Kevin don't see the kids' participation in the videos as work or anything worth being compensated for. They'd probably call that way of thinking 'entitled'. And we all know Ruby won't 'coddle' her kids. In reality she is the one who is really being coddled!

She said that she does not believe parents are responsible epecially if it puts them in financial difficulty. She says it teaches them responsibility and as a way to help them out pays for grades. If they were in a bad financial situation I would understand, but they are not. If they are helping them out by paying for grades over time that's fine but chad is required to buy clothes backpacks haircuts etc. with that money while also having to pay for a mission and college. I think it is fine that K&R keep 50% of youtube profits to pay for bills, themselves, and things their children need, but the other 50% should be split into a savings account nt fo the kids. Even if they could not split the money it is ridiculous if they are keeping almost all of itimoverit wrote: ↑Sat May 16, 2020 11:05 amThis is a very good point, I hadn't thought about the fact that because of their parents' high income the kids are not likely to receive any financial aid even if they are expected to pay their own way. Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
This was all for views. She already said she is going to BYU. She took the SAT (or ACT I can't remember which) and said she did well enough to get into BYU. She also said she doesn't want to go to a school too far from home so I don't know what this nonsense is all about. I suppose if my tuition is only half (because of dad's job there), I might consider doing the same. As long as dad stays employed at BYU, I suspect all the kids will go there. As far as Harvard is concerned? That's a pipe dream unless you're basically a genius.
Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
Legally the kids have a right to sue Ruby and Kevin for the money they have earned, if they are not given the money. If Chad were to ever get fed up with his parents and seek emancipation on top of suing his parents for his rightful share of the income they earn, these videos would be all the proof the judge would need to side with chad. He has every right to be treated fairly as well as a right to privacy. He could also take his parents to court for basic needs to be met and probably win. I don't think he knows his rights.

I can't remember if it was Ruby or one of her sisters that said they set up a bank account for each of their children. I was under the impression it was for the YouTube money they made. I hope they did.
