The attention seeker only really seeks to be pregnant but not take on the responsibility afterwards. She knows what $$$$ and free shit comes after having a baby. I think being an "influencer" is the worst thing to have happened to her.

I'm pregnant now myself and its no walk in the park. Again I can't imagine the hormones + grief (hopefully she has grief, but I don't know)... I wouldnt be able to get out of bed.

And of course she has to mention the comments about having boys. One, having a large family isnt something you see every day and two, she has boys. What do you expect? Its a 50/50 shot, woman

Yes, I am aware of the NT scan done towards the end of the first trimester. Had one with my daughter last year. These aren't done at your OB's office, they are a separate appointment typically done by a radiologist at a genetic counseling clinic and the results are shared with your OB. In the story, Brittani says that she has the "best doctor" who brought out the ultrasound at her 12 week appointment, even though that isn't routine.

She'll be around 14 weeks at the end of the month, and that is also typically the earliest point that boutique non-medical ultrasound places will do a gender ultrasound with a degree of certainty. So she could be going that route.

I’m not defending her but you do realize this will vary by OB practice right? My NT scan was done by an ultrasound tech in my doctor’s office scheduled back to back with a normal prenatal appointment. No radiologist was involved and never did I go to a genetic counseling clinic.

I've personally never had one done with a geneticist with any of my four pregnancies, although it probably does vary on protocol. My OB's office also has in-house ultrasound and blood lab in the same building. They actually do their best to stack those appointments on the same day. Its totally possible for her to have it scheduled together.

I still can't wrap my head around her being pregnant.

It's not normal to be talking happily about your pregnancy and baby, then sadly talking about being in the grieving process the next minute.

I agree. I know a lot of us may not be able to speak from her circumstance but as a mother I feel incredibly shocked
By it. I could maybe understand an oops and in the moment of the chaos. But they were trying. I think she has no idea how hard it will be to welcome a new baby and grieve the anniversary of losing her baby. She will likely have a 4 week old and those hormones can be intense with tragedy.

Ah, that’s good to know that it varies by practice and depends on how you are receiving care. Most independent OB practices are not going to have a highly sensitive ultrasound machine and sonographers on staff that has special training on taking NT measurements, which is why it is usually treated as a referral from your doctor. It’s different from the ultrasounds performed at most doctors’ offices. I could definitely see appointments scheduled back-to-back if your OB is in a larger medical building or attached to a hospital. But if you watched her story on Instagram, Brittani was not getting an NT scan. She specifically praises her doctor for doing her a favor by wheeling out the ultrasound machine during a routine appointment. She’s not the sharpest tool in the shed, but I think she would know if she was having an NT scan performed versus a regular check-up.

So my baby spent 3 weeks in the NICU after being born prematurely, and unfortunately he passed away due to some complications. Terrible time in my life, truly. We got pregnant about 6 months later and it was so scary. The emotions going from exciting to grieving were tremendous. So I have no clue how she is going to do this so soon. Really.

I’m going to get shit for this comment but so be it. I’ve terminated a pregnancy so I’ve been down this road many times

Anyone who is allowing an OB to measure a Nuchal fold needs to rethink their practice and doctor. A perinatologist needs to be the one measuring and accurately reading results. An OB is absolutely not trained in this. Typically a perinatologist and a genetic counselor are in the same office

And I’ve seen a few people on here use a geneticist and a genetic counselor interchangeably...they are 2 very different things.

I said my peace

Frankly, this was my thought process as well. I'd much rather go to a clinic that specializes in genetic screenings and have those results shared with me and my OB, especially if it's to determine if more invasive testing is warranted. Me and my doctor received a very comprehensive report. That's good to know about the geneticist vs. genetic counselor, thankfully we didn't have any abnormal results so I didn't have to get too far in the weeds. I'm far from an expert. Sorry, this is super off topic now. My point was that she wasn't having an NT screening performed, it was a routine check-up and she made that pretty clear in her Instagram story. Maybe her doctor felt sorry for her and performed a short ultrasound to help with anxiety she was experiencing. My first guess though was that perhaps she did either the home sneak peek test or the genetic blood test and got a result, and she somehow talked her doctor into doing an ultrasound to check to see if what she saw fell in line with the blood test. But it's probably more likely that the doctor knows about what happened to her son and felt sorry for her, and did the ultrasound to be nice.

No don’t apologize! I Sortof went off topic to begin with. This subject is just a sour one for me so I may go overboard with it. I don’t think people realize how specific ultrasounds need to be. Even being off by 1mm can make or break a diagnosis. So having someone there trained means they can double, triple and quadruple check measurements.

I thought the same thing about brittani- she either is lieing about what appointment she was going to (but why lie) or her doctor genuinely feels bad for her.

But then again this is Britt we are talking about - she’s a great actress so who knows lol

Good job you’re not in the UK! We get scanned by a tech, and results are interpreted by our obstetrician. At the hospital. No fancy clinics here.

My OBs shared office/building is attached to a hospital. Nor did I say my OB did the scan just simply that all of these services are offered at the same place, attached to a hospital. Of course a specialist is the one doing the scan you just chose to interpret it how you wanted to.

There’s a difference between looking for the markers and actual diagnosis. Certainly if there is any slight chance that one of the markers are there, as well as certain genetic/family history, you are going to be seen by a specialist. It’s not common here for someone to go to a specialist for a routine NT scan.

And - not trying to downplay your tragedy or grief in any way - you had that time to know it was a possibility. You may have hoped for the best but you had some sort of time to prepare.

She put her baby down to sleep in an unsafe space and was donating his organs a few days later, and getting pregnant two and a half months after that. I can’t even imagine.

So Brittani moved, her mom moved and her Ex husband all moved at the exact same time...WTF? That’s a little strange. Do you guys think her mom and ex husband are living together now? Or just a big coincidence?
