I agree. There are many fans who think Ruby walks on water and will follow/imitate what she does (I can't for the life of me understand why). I also feel Ruby is digging to try and get some new niche to fit into now since their family vlogs are getting more and more boring. Shari is about as qualified to give stretching/exercise lessons as Ruby is to give life coaching guidance.Alycat_2001_uk wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 2:15 pm I've just watched their exercise with us video, and it very much shows the problems they have in their videos. Shari is definitely trying and does have a bit of knowledge, but she fills in the gaps by trying to be confident and as a result makes mistakes. For example, she talks about one stretch not really stretching anything when it does. As she has the sort of knowledge you get from BEING trained rather than knowing how to train, she misses out big bits of explanations (why to stretch, when to stretch, what feelings should make you stop, how long to hold stretches for etc).
Ruby has almost no knowledge, so I can only assume she's been to one or two classes at most (or just hasn't paid attention). She's desperate to seem like she's teaching, but she really doesn't know what she's talking about. It's like a little kid coming back from a first ballet lesson and wanting to 'teach' their parents how to do ballet. Cobra and Tree are fairly basic names not to know. So Ruby held both Russell and Eve back a year? Is it common for people to do that if their kids were born in summer or fall? I was born at the end of the July, but never was held back a year because of that. I was usually one of the younger ones in my class, but not the youngest. Eve was born in September and Russell in July, so they wouldn't have been that much younger than their classmates. I don't know, I feel like I'd prefer to be a little bit younger than my classmates, rather then being the oldest in class. That's probably why Eve acts so much younger than she actually is, because she's almost seven and was in kindergarten with a bunch of 4-5 year olds. They would probably be more mature and well-behaved if Ruby had let them go to kindergarten as soon as they were able, instead of keeping them back an entire year.

That makes no sense to me. Granted I started kindergarten over 25 years ago so maybe things have changed. I'm a September baby and wasnt held back..and there were classmates who were born as late as November and were still in my grade. Holding back a July birthday, really?

Sorry for the double post, but it also sounds like Chad is really unsure if his parents will let him get his license or not. He mentioned that he's going to be sixteen and able to date soon, but he also said its up to mom and dad if he'll be able to start driving. Why? It's not like he'll have his own car or just be able to take off whenever he pleases, there's no reason he shouldn't be able to learn to drive. My parents refused to let me or any of my siblings go through driver's ed and made us wait until we were 18 to start trying to get our licenses. None of us are confident drivers and each of us had a whole lot of issues because we were starting college and needed jobs without our license. Instead of taking classes and learning everything we needed to know, we basically had to rush to know the bare minimum to past the test. Kids should begin driving as soon as possible and have the opportunity to take classes and retake their tests as many times as needed until they know how to drive safe. If there is not a valid reason to make your kid wait, do not make them wait. Do not put your control issues over your child needing time to learn how to be safe on the roads. Chad will have a million other things to worry about when he's 18 without having to still need to learn to drive on top of it all.

Sooo I just saw the vlog again when Abby dropped the cell phone in the toilet the day after she got it. A couple of months later she got an IPhone. She was 12. Will Julie get a phone when she turns 12???
Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
I find it so interesting that Ruby and Kevin feel the need to control his driving privileges but not his dating privileges. Clearly he has done something in the past that got him sent off to wilderness camp, and he still has issues that make them feel he is untrustworthy or not mature enough They seem to be punishing him or restricting him on driving as a result of that.rulatows000 wrote: ↑Mon May 25, 2020 8:18 am Sorry for the double post, but it also sounds like Chad is really unsure if his parents will let him get his license or not. But why doesn't that also apply to dating? The rule about not dating until 16 is part of LDS guidelines, so maybe if you're a lazy parent like ruby and Kevin that means you don't have to think about whether your individual child is ready to date at 16.

Have you ever read some of the comments on her instagram (Ellie & Bonnie's too)? People actually say they hope to be as great a mother as they are. They seriously think these women are perfect role models. I always want to comment but I know I will be blocked.Happy+Charlie wrote: ↑Sun May 24, 2020 4:42 pmI agree. If Eve's birthday is in September, she couldn't start Kindergarten until she was almost 6. Cutoff date is September 2. Not defending Ruby, because I think she is a terrible mother, but that isn't on her unless she held her back even more. Why she held Russell back, I have no idea. Wasn't she supposedly homeschooling (because she "needed" kids home during the day for footage) at least one kid at a time? She "homeschooled" Chad for a while because of "anger issues",and I seem to remember her keeping Eve back, but I'm not sure if it was because of the cutoff date or for content.rulatows000 wrote:So Ruby held both Russell and Eve back a year? I actually saw a comment saying that when the person didn't know what to do as a mom, they think "what would Bonnie do?". I was flabbergasted. If I I ever think "what would Bonnie do" I would do the opposite.ba1006 wrote:Have you ever read some of the comments on her instagram (Ellie & Bonnie's too)? I am using Tapatalk for the first time! Yay for me! Anyway, I agree with the comment about Shari’s teaching yoga being a little dangerous. The whole thing was a bit cringey with her playing the expert, her teenage brother acting too cool for school, and her mother throwing in uneducated comments here and there. Also, the whole “people in third world countries squat all day” was unfortunate and Kevin’s Kevinste or whatever he said at the end instead of Namaste was just gross.

Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
When I was in school not too long ago, the oldest kids were born in August and the youngest in July. In general I would prefer my child to be on the older end than the youngest in their year, but I really do think it depends on the child and you have to take it case by case, with recommendations from the pediatrician and the school if possible. Eve might be in the lower grade because she behaves developmentally younger, not the other way around that she acts younger because she's in the lower grade. If she's born in September I would definitely expect her to be at the older end of her classmates, not the younger end. July could really go either way but if he was a little behind developmentally then I could understand keeping him back, if for good reason.rulatows000 wrote: ↑Mon May 25, 2020 8:04 am So Ruby held both Russell and Eve back a year? There’s a lot of September birthdays in my family and they all started kindergarten at almost 6. Also, most colleges in the US start in August which would make them 17 if they go to college, which also creates issues (my first roommate had to have her mom sign for a ton of things when she got to college cause she needed guardian permission as she was 17).lmmomSD wrote:If Eve's birthday is in September, she couldn't start Kindergarten until she was almost 6. For Russell it could be a lot of things, such as behavior, maturity, speech issues. However knowing Ruby, she didn’t take any of those into consideration when starting him late.

I am not defending Ruby or Kevin in any way, but if for any reason they don’t think he is mature enough to drive then don’t let him. If for any reason they don’t think he can’t stay focus while driving, then don’t let him. If for any reason they think he might do something to effect his ability to drive well, then don’t let him. A car can become a lethal weapon when used incorrectly. I would hate to see Chad or any teenager have an accident and hurt themselves or worse someone else.
Now honestly since we are talking about Ruby, we know she is being spiteful by not allowing Chad to get his license.

Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
So I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet because I'm a bit behind on reading the comments here, but I find it very telling how Russell acts like a normal kid around Shari when she's filming and acts like some sort of hyperactive hyena around Ruby when she's filming. I think it just goes to show that he is definetely told to act up for the camera in the 8 passengers vlogs, and so it's not crazy to assume that all of the other kids (especially including Eve in those life coaching vlogs) are acting for the camera. I just wonder what in the world Ruby tells them in order to make sure they always act up for the camera for content. Does she actually pay them and we just don't know about it, or is there some other sort of incentive for all the kids to keep on filming without showing an attitude (or at least not much of an attitude) in Ruby's vlogs?
Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
I'm wondering if the reason Chad mentioned not being able to drive is an opportunity for Ruby to post a video about it. Same thing with withholding Eve and Russell from school for a year. Ruby could make videos and address why she does those things (the videos would probably be filled with her lies anyway) but either way, if she exploits Chad (one of the family favorites) or Russell and Eve (the two cute younger ones) Ruby could make a ton of money off of them. I also wonder if the reason they are thinking about moving to the public school is because private school has gotten too expensive for Ruby and Kevin, especially with them using their money so lavishly on themselves. A stupid trip to BVI during the pandemic, Ruby doo doo's stupid collection of 4 clothes that ultimately failed (as it should have, the clothing line sucked ass), Ruby always using money for herself, (her hair, her spider eyelashes, clothes for herself), as well as money used for the bathroom remodel and backyard remodel, and don't forget the ton of money they spent for 3 washing machine rooms (money going towards water, detergent) when they could function perfectly fine with just one laundry room and helping each other out if one doesn't have a full enough load etc) the list goes on and on about all the stupid expensive unnecessary purchases they've made.

Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
Did anyone catch Shari and Julie talking about switching schools? I thought Ruby was head over heels in love with the private school? I’ve also never seen a family change schools so damn much. From public to homeschool to private etc. I’m not sure why Shari would even want to change schools her senior year. I also would find it very very unlikely for a school district to accept students from another district.
Off topic but I moved once as a child (2nd grade) then stayed in the same town and school district until I graduated, my husband didn’t move at all and we don’t plan on moving out of the district our children go to. I could never imagine pulling my kids from one school to the next like Ruby does. I understand maybe military families are different or those who have relocating jobs, but not the Franke’s!

Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
Does anyone have kids here that go to private school? because I find It suspicious how Abby's whole class can go to her teachers house(s) for a "celebration" to go skiing. In my school (public) we weren't even allowed to hug security guards let alone go to teachers houses. they would've been fired on the spot (in my school district I've seen teachers fired for a lot less). Is this normal with private school kids/parents? parents would you let your kids go to a teachers home? I'm not a parent yet and that seems suspect to me
