"I thought Ruby was head over heels in love with the private school?" Yeah RUBY is in love with the private school, and possibly Shari too, as someone who went to private school till the end of 4th grade, depending on how much you pay and what the private school has to offer, its honestly the same as public school. Like Chad I did better in public than I did in private. In regards to the school district, I mean they could always forge their address (not promoting that, its illegal. But when I was in school there were lots of people forging their address to keep going to my school). However, I think it depends on the state, where I live you can, but others it might be an extra cost, or they might be really strict with the circumstance etc. (but take that with a grain of salt because I only googled what my state offered and based the rest off of assumptions).freshbalsam wrote: ↑Mon May 25, 2020 8:27 pm Did anyone catch Shari and Julie talking about switching schools? I thought Ruby was head over heels in love with the private school? I’ve also never seen a family change schools so damn much. From public to homeschool to private etc. I’m not sure why Shari would even want to change schools her senior year. I also would find it very very unlikely for a school district to accept students from another district.
Off topic but I moved once as a child (2nd grade) then stayed in the same town and school district until I graduated, my husband didn’t move at all and we don’t plan on moving out of the district our children go to. I could never imagine pulling my kids from one school to the next like Ruby does. I understand maybe military families are different or those who have relocating jobs, but not the Franke’s!

It could definitely be something that private schools will be more laid back about.Jamie Love wrote:Does anyone have kids here that go to private school? because I find It suspicious how Abby's whole class can go to her teachers house(s) for a "celebration" to go skiing. In my school (public) we weren't even allowed to hug security guards let alone go to teachers houses. they would've been fired on the spot (in my school district I've seen teachers fired for a lot less). Is this normal with private school kids/parents? parents would you let your kids go to a teachers home? I'm not a parent yet and that seems suspect to me
I went to an all girls private school for K-12 (graduated HS in 2013) and we did have gatherings at teachers or classmates houses although most of them were when we were older (middle and high school). In the younger elementary grades, our “fun” activities took place in school.
It can also depend on the culture of the school. Public schools serve everyone in the community and are bound by strict state and schools district regulations. Private schools can be more selective to the students within the culture they cater to and set their own rules. For example, I assume the private school that the Franke kids attend caters to a primarily religious Mormon population and they can set their own rules for their school, teacher, and students.

I didn’t hear the comment about switching schools, but if they are considering it i wonder if it’s again because Shari or the other kids just can’t seem to get along with the other students well enough. I think Abby and Julie as well as Chad would be better served by a public school that would cater to all skill levels instead of expecting you to perform at top level like their private school seems to. I’d love for them to go to public, what a slap in the face to Ruby and a win for Chad!
As far as going to a different district, where I grew up you could pay to do that, simple as that.

Did Shari really say the history class was just discussing conspiracy theories and they didn't follow any actual programme of study? Very worrying.
With regards to keeping the kids back a year, if that is allowed in America then it's probably the best decision. Statistics show that kids at the younger end of the class don't do quite as well.

I can see Shari staying at the private school and the rest going to the public school. Soooo Shari doesn’t have to drive “the kids to school” and Ruby doesn’t have to pick them up.imoverit wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 1:27 am I didn’t hear the comment about switching schools, but if they are considering it i wonder if it’s again because Shari or the other kids just can’t seem to get along with the other students well enough. When I was going into middle school I moved to a different district and at that time you couldn’t enroll into the school you wanted to go too. So my mom had to lie and use my grandma’s address.
It wasn’t safe for me to go to the school I should have be in.

Wow, so interesting about attending a different district, I never knew there were options to do that! Where I live and teach, it is absolutely not allowed. If a family is suspected to be living in another town and attending the wrong district, an investigation takes place and once it’s ruled that they live elsewhere the student must register to the school in the district where they live.imoverit wrote:I didn’t hear the comment about switching schools, but if they are considering it i wonder if it’s again because Shari or the other kids just can’t seem to get along with the other students well enough. Shari said they were writing a note to see if they can attend a different school. She didn’t say it was public but Julie made a comment.

Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
"You were completely happy with your room until Chad got something" Ruby tells Russell. Yeah, Russell was happy when his room got a makeover and looked like a real room while the rest of his siblings still only had a mattress on the floor. Now the other siblings are getting to customize their rooms to how THEY want them, which Russell did not get to do, so he's realizing he got the short end of the deal. But he's 7 and doesn't know how to articulate that into so many words, so Ruby continues to think he's just acting spoiled or jealous.
Chad also says "I know it's not OUR room" to Ruby, referring back to when Ruby let everyone know they're all her rooms that she's just letting the kids use. Which is one of the sickest things she's ever told her kids. She refuses to talk to her little son for more than 5 to 10 minutes about an issue that's clearly bothering him? Chad's trying to get on her good side because he has to in order to survive, but it's only encouraging her in a bad way.
I'll let someone else try to tackle her saying Chad's taking counseling from the woman who's teaching her life coaching.....

Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
Ruby is the most entitled person and she wants to preach to her young son. Those kids are not allowed to have any normal feelings other than what Ruby tells them they can/should experience. Coming from a woman who has no empathy for others (well, maybe for her YT fans), that's not giving them many feelings to express.
How is it she seems to have a new outfit on each day, but she hasn't been shopping, lol. Ruby has had her spider lashes done, buys for herself, but the kids still have mattresses on the floor, books on the floor. No nightstands or personal effects at all, still sterile rooms even after adding a wall accent. They'll be ready to move out at 18 before their rooms are finished and look lived in.
She questioned Chad about whether he paid for the lights, duh, how else would he have gotten them.
Ruby is just so hardcore, emotionless and a total bitch. I would hate to have her for a mom.

I'm honestly surprised that even Shari said she was considering moving to another school district. Not only because it's her senior year, but also because she made a whole video as to why she liked private school better then public, one of the big reasons being the teachers and students at private school were apparently "better" then the ones at a public school. Honestly, that whole video made her look like a snob and now the fact that she's considering moving back to public school is a joke. Sure it could be allowed if they payed a bit more, but the reason why they decided to do so is suspicious. As for Julie and Abbey, I think the reason they might move schools would have more to do with catering to their academic needs and not for the fact that they can't seem to get along with the other kids well enough. I think Julie and Abbey are pretty likable kids in my opinion, and so making friends would be no problem, but the academic rigor of a private vs public school would be different. Especially if they don't end up having Shari's teachers who would give her a boost in her grades in case she did bad on a test.imoverit wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 1:27 am I didn’t hear the comment about switching schools, but if they are considering it i wonder if it’s again because Shari or the other kids just can’t seem to get along with the other students well enough. Yeah, I am hoping Shari just explained it poorly but I found that to be worrying as well. It is great to have a teacher that encourages discussions but the way she said it felt off, especially since they apparently don’t use textbooks? I would love to know what they are actually learning...Alycat_2001_uk wrote:Did Shari really say the history class was just discussing conspiracy theories and they didn't follow any actual programme of study? Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
This might be a pretty minor thing to some people, but does it not bother anyone else when you see how much food probably goes to waste in that family? I've seen it so many times in their videos and I figured, this probably only happens every once in a while, but it's happened so many times that its become bothersome. In today's vlog for example, Russell cuts off a huge piece of the apple core (but there was still a lot of fruit he could've eaten from it). But he just throws it away and Ruby says nothing. I'm sorry but coming from a family who used to have literally close to nothing to eat, it's so hard to watch people who don't recognize how privileged they are to have every need of theirs met. (I should mention that my family and I are doing a lot better now) BUT even if we do have a fridge stocked full of food, we always make sure none of it goes to waste, and only to buy what is absolutely necessary for us to do so.
Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
Found it crazy how Chad has so many books and no shelf/drawers to put them in. Shari was lucky that she got to keep one of the previous book shelves that they had in their old house to store a few books that matched her 'aesthetic.'Happy+Charlie wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 5:54 am Ruby is the most entitled person and she wants to preach to her young son. I loved Chad's way of speaking to his mum. He calmly explained that, whilst Ruby had indeed spent a lot of money to make Russell's room look really nice, she'd taken away his chance of self expression by not involving him at all in the decision. Hopefully she'll listen to that.

I didn't hear where any of the kids have said they may be leaving the private school. Interesting if they do, as this will be on the heels of Ruby saying they are cutting back. I guess their big donation to the school has run it's course and they can't afford to give anymore currently or near future. If this is even part of it, how is it that Ruby hasn't cut back on her own indulgences but the kids who are the cash cows are the ones going without. Ruby's lack of travel is not because of funds, it is due to COVID-19, I'm sure, if it wouldn't be for more firm travel advisories than when they were selfish and still went on the BVU trip, she and Kevin would not be holding back for themselves. Also, once Shari graduates, she will not have someone to drive them to school, and we all know Ruby can't do it, so maybe she is setting the stage for future.emma2948 wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2020 7:08 amI'm honestly surprised that even Shari said she was considering moving to another school district. Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
It's nice to see Chad smiling for once (even if it was on his own accord) and not because of Ruby. Glad he was really happy with how the lights turned out, they looked really cool.
Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
Ruby is such a control freak. She can't let go or letting the kids decorate their rooms. Her words, not mine. (But it should be their room to do whatever they'd like to it) granted that the kids don't damage their rooms to decorate it, why shouldn't they be allowed to get stuff to decorate it with. The only people I could imagine who would follow after Ruby is those other controlling mothers who also don't let kids decorate their own rooms to their liking and who restrict their kids freedom in every way imaginable. The other idiots who follow Ruby would have to include those idiot tween/teenage girls and other mormon vloggers. That's it.
Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
I think even Russell is beginning to see how much of a crazy bitch Ruby is. First with the look on his face when Ruby mentioned "borrowing the special toilet for good behavior" and now with Ruby forcing him to 'meditate' because apparently Russell is the one who needs to calm down even though he didn't really do anything wrong to calm down from. He just got excited with the thought of having bright lights in his room too. And where was this meditation when Russell was screaming and yelling, getting hyperactive and slamming his head into the pillow for no reason (Acting like a hyena). Ruby only parents her kids when its convenient for her. When she can make a quick buck out of them. I hope she knows that her haters don't make her any money as they watch on invidious and/or use an adblocker.
Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
If Ruby does take Chad's advice and stop being a controlling bitch, she'll probably pass off that advice to her fans as if she thought of it on her own, rather that crediting her 14 year old son for being far more intelligent about the situation than her and figuring out why Russell was acting the way he was. Of course she's done parenting after 5-10 minutes, that's really all she can commit to, anymore and she'll become 'victim mom.' She's just a lazy bitch. I appreciate Chad trying to understand where his mother is coming from, but I don't think she's gonna go back to try and talk to Russell again. (She probably says she's gonna talk to him, but itll just be another life coach session with Russel) Also, 5-10 minutes and that's it for Ruby, if she does any more parenting on top of that she'll have to take another 6 hour nap and stare at the wall for another couple hours before she can parent again.
