Yes, he does seem empty of happiness. He seems lost. Feeling like you're not worthy of even a bedroom? How devastating would that be?! I just wish he knew that he matters, he's loved and he's worth it. I also have a feeling that they'll have Chad say, he agrees with them or that he understood why it got taken away and it was okay.Happy+Charlie wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 1:05 pmI can't wait to see how she spins this to make it sound like it was the right thing to do. Like others have said she will not admit to it being anything other than good parenting and the right decision by she and Kevin. I won't be surprised either (as someone else state) if Chad chimes in too that he was in agreement--what other choice does he have but to side and agree with Kevin and Ruby. He was given the choice to go to private or public school, he choice public and has paid heavily for it being the wrong choice in Ruby's eyes. Because he choice public, she would not buy clothes or other necessities for him like a book bag. While for the private school, she had bought him a new wardrobe to include a blazer while he was on the trail. We all remember Chad chose to separate himself from the group on his hike and he's used to sleeping on a bare/hard ground, so nothing new for him. The big problem I have with their excessive punishments is he is stripped of human comforts a person should have. It is almost emotional abuse. You can see it in Chad's eyes, he is a very empty person, he looks sad, A LOT!CandleSand wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 12:44 pm I get that Chad didn't treat Russell right. I get not wanting them to share the same room so until they moved, sleeping somewhere else (like the living room). You could've let him sleep on the couch or put cushions on the floor for him, etc and then when you moved let him sleep in HIS room since Russell wouldn't be in there. Seven months without a bed or bedroom? That is definitely excessive.
I'd get angry with people taking my stuff. It's mine. Don't touch it. Maybe because my parents didn't take my stuff..
Russell wasn't feeling shame. He was feeling ANGRY. He's had so much taken away and Covid-19 hasn't helped things. He didn't want you to FILM him. Talking to him is one thing, FILMING him is another. I hated it when my mom even just told my doctor the times I had an attitude or was a brat. Let alone THE WORLD. Ruby, talk to your children in PRIVATE. Not everything needs to be on camera.
Yes, he does have the choice to be happy, sad, angry, etc. She could've given him some hope and suggestions though. You won't have electronics, but you can play board games, card games, write letters to your cousins, draw, play imaginary games, play with your toys, ride your bike, use chalk, play basketball, soccer, create your own games, make and do an obstacle course, play with Dwight, exercise, etc. Sometimes you have to help people and suggest a different way of looking at things, especially children. They can't act or think like adults because they're NOT adults. Step up your game, Ruby!
As far as Russell, Ruby has already stated it is not her responsibility to figure out entertainment for her children. If they are bored, it's their fault. She misses the mark so much in knowing what is kindness/being motherly/helpful and what is being an enabler/coddling. She's quite happy for her children to be miserable and sad and thinks any way of doing or giving them something that will make them happy is coddling them. How is it Jennifer comes off as a sweet ole grandmother, but we all know Ruby's issues stem from her growing up years. That's probably why she's so anxious to have grandkids, she can be painted in a better light, so she thinks.
Yes, she has. I just wish she had taken the opportunity to tell him the positives. She definitely blew it again.

What has always bothered me is how unloving their family is. I’m not sure but was Kevin in the military? Because this family also has some military family strict rules. I never seen Kevin or Ruby genuinely hug or comfort their children. Does it occur to them that three out of six kids said they had no friends? Ruby basically said I know how hard that could be and thank you for opening up about it and didn’t seem upset about it. I wanted to scream have an honest conversation with your child.I would of broke down if my kid said that.I was young when my mom died but she once told me that she never wanted me to feel alone. And I know this is a big family but the kids look so alone and beside themselves. Although I think once Chad leaves the house he’ll be free. He will find his tribe because I don’t think Mormons and this life style his family has is for him. Same might go for Julia and Russell.
Kevin and Ruby seem to think all you do is prepare your children for the real world. You don’t need to nurture or love them. You just need to prepare them for responsibility and that’s it. How is anyone ready to be an adult at 18? When they just left home. That’s such a hard transitional phase in life and these kids are expected to be adults at 18 with no experience yet.
Nobody has life experience at 18 years old.
Whats also sad is how little cps can actually do. It’s not direct abuse what this family does. Nobody is getting physically hurt. For the most part it seems their parenting style is just shitty but I don’t think it has grounds for abuse.
I think the best outcome is for Chad, Julia, Russell and maybe Abby leave the nest and all write books about how shitty their family and parents were.

What happened to the comments on the reupload of Friday's video? Is the video getting deleted from YouTube? Hopefully it's not gone for good.

Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
I have given this so much thought again, and while there are moments that appear very dear, Chad laying across his mom or dad napping or having hair stroked, or the way Ruby and Kevin interact with their kids sometimes, and it is sweet but there are more times where you can see the expressions of kids that have no consistency and seem to not know which Ruby is gonna be addressing them today. I thought about how the kids are usually hanging in the same room as Ruby or Kevin, not off doing their own thing. I realize now, Chad really has no other choice but to be around someone else. He's not allowed to be alone, he doesn't have friends to hang out with, can't watch TV, can't play anything but board games, so if sibling(s) don't want to play too, truly what the hell is there for him to do, while maintaining the rule he is not to be alone.CandleSand wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 6:46 pmYes, he does seem empty of happiness. Remember Abby was gifted book sets for her birthday, but told right away, "you can't read them" due to grades in math was it? (Ruby and Bonnie sure know how to spoil a birthday neither of them can give the kid a day free from restrictions and sadness.). We know Abby loves to read, so I imagine she has her nose in a book a lot. We were shown Russell and Eve made new friends across the street and they are quite happy to play with each other. Julie does her own thing as does Shari. What is there for Chad to do? He says he is going to focus on becoming the best athlete since he has no friends to hang around with. He should already know Ruby and Kevin will find a way to take that away from him too. Their parenting is so warped. I don't get it. Most all parents want their children to have friends. Aside from the 2 youngest, and maybe Julie, the others have none. Shari included. What kind of parent finds that acceptable and wouldn't go to great lengths to grow friendships? Get them involved at extra curricular activities, etc. I just can't believe how they share this shit to the world and think it's ok.

Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
I've always had the opinion the kids are more affectionate with Kevin, so Ruby is the cold one and the kids don't know how to get it from her. When they returned from a trip they only said hi to Ruby but ran to Kevin to hug. This could be since he seems to be absent a lot, they are desperate for his attention or they are just more comfortable seeing it from him. He interacts with them and seems attentive when in their presence, especially with Shari. She seems to really look up to him and wants his approval. Ruby flat out says she will not speak to her kids after 10 min is it? And will blow them off because she's not getting the personality or emotion from them that she expects. I remember, again, when they returned from trip, Eve would not come to them, Ruby kept calling her, and one of the others stated how bad she had been, Ruby basically said, fine she didn't need to come down. I know we only see portions of their day, but good gosh when every portion has bits of dysfunction, I would think that's all pretty close to what the kids experience on the regular.Kellyannat wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 7:17 pm What has always bothered me is how unloving their family is. Now, there has been part of me that wonders how much of this was set up, or any of their vlogs for that matter. Chad saying he has no friends, but then he's on other vloggers Instagram at a birthday party. Though, he doesn't look happy at it.

I have been lurking on here for months. As we all know Ruby is crazy and needs a reality check. I found the therapist/counselor that Ruby had mentioned in her past vlogs. Her name is Jodi Hildebrandt and she has a YouTube channel called ConneXions. I left a link just in case you guys wanna check it out. https://www.youtube.com/user/JodiHCounseling

I forgot to mention this but Ruby definitely learned how to parent from sAiNt JeNnIfEr. I don't know if grandma Griff deleted the stupid comment she made defending Ruby (she probably did) but I screenshotted it because I had a feeling she would. It really shows you her true character.. both Ruby and grandma got the idea that teenagers are stupid and don't have the brains to be vocal about what they really think. I'm so tired of Ruby blaming this "unjustified hate" on stupid teens, when so many teenagers themselves know that what she is doing is complete and utter bullshit. Us teens are smarter than deranged ruby and deranged grandma combined.

Quite a few videos have been coming out on YouTube in the last 24 hours exposing Ruby’s parenting. I can’t believe I almost forgot about Eve forgetting her school lunch and Ruby saying she hopes nobody at the school gives her a lunch. She purposely wanted her to go without food! That is straight up abusive behavior. Her job as a parent is to make sure her five year old child has a lunch to eat while at school. All of her kids should have a bed to sleep in, clean clothes on their backs, food to eat and friends to spend time with. I hope more videos come out exposing the way she treats them. I also hope she doesn’t punish Chad even more for speaking the truth. I can already see her blaming him even though her and Kevin are 100% responsible for their parenting and restricting their children of basic necessities. Seeing 3 of her kids say they have no friends was heartbreaking. She posted this video for money and now she’s getting the backlash she deserves. All of her children deserve so much better.

I wondered that too from the moment he returned from Anasazi. I remember Valentines Day he was talking as if he was the only one that didn’t have a Valentine for that ridiculous (and kind of sick) Mormon Valentine ritual at school. Is he being ostracized and labeled as damaged goods? What could he have done that was so horrible that he’s now a pariah at home and at school? Before, he always had a group of friends, seemed really social, athletic, and seemed to be adored by his younger cousins. The disgusting extended family used him for video views when he came back from Anasazi and then seemed to abandon him.rulatows000 wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 2:45 pm I also wonder if maybe he's possibly been ostracized by all his Mormon and Youtube friends since he's been sent to Anasazi.
I don’t mean to sound dramatic, and I know evil Ruby could care less, but I think Chad is at an elevated risk for depression, self harm, and maybe even suicide attempt. His life is not only dystopian in nature, he’s also the victim of being used and exposed by his parents, for all the world to see. I hope he can escape, mostly unscathed, maybe work in Alaska for a few years or even join the military if that’s what it takes to get away and disappear. When he’s older, he could help the younger siblings and maybe even seek monetary and legal compensation due to the years of abuse and exploitation.

It's also important to remember that the amount of messed up stuff we've seen is only the stuff that Ruby feels is acceptable to put on YouTube. What else is she doing that she isn't filming or uploading?

Chad- you didn’t the right thing, now run for the hills. You deserve better than this.

This whole thing is going to complete change the way they vlog for a while maybe for ever. She will stop with the one to ones for a while showing her parenting.
Hopefully when school restarts and Chad starts football (if he’s allowed ) that will help him and his mood.
Shari is a lost cause in some ways as she’s so set on her school and fitness she will be hard to condition out of that.
If Julie and Abby do change schools again ( I kinda hope Abby doesn’t as she seems to enjoy bits of the Mormon school ) They will make new friends that are local so they arnt as lost. Eve and Russel will adapt fine. There young and there lives will change when Shari and Chad move out any way.

Shari said she hasn’t had time to read so she’s excited for summer. What happened to the 10+ she did read recently.
I would be very surprised if at least Shari doesn’t go back to the precious private. She has a car she can drive herself.
Shari is the only one set to be able to live on her own/be comfortable to pay for college.
Unless Ruby and Kevin are putting away YouTube money for the kids. Which I don’t see happening but you never know.

I think it’s disgusting that she has no feelings when not one but almost all of her children say they have no friends. I don’t believe for a second any of those kids have a group of friends, let alone one friend besides Eve. Not once have they in videos or social media shown to be communicating or socializing with friends. Friendship is SO important, but we know Ruby feels the opposite. I would be crushed if those were my kids, doing anything possible to promote friendships with groups or activities. My girls have been face timing their friends weekly, talking on the phone, social distancing drive bys. They’re 8 so they don’t have a phone themselves but they use the house phone/mine to call their friends. It has helped them the most during this time. I can’t imagine being 12, 14, 16, 17 etc and not being able to call a group of friends my own. Hell, I am still friends with the majority of my high school/college friends and my best friend since the 3rd grade and I’m a grown adult with 2 children.
Don’t even get me started on the bed/no doors situation. You all summed it up.

....and once again, Ruby is fine with it because she didn't have friends growing up, only her sisters and brother and she survived. We all see how that has helped Ruby. She now has millions of friends who she shares everything with about herself and her children (she doesn't exploit Kevin, so he must have laid down the law with her) and seeks attention and pats on the back from them.freshbalsam wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2020 6:00 am I think it’s disgusting that she has no feelings when not one but almost all of her children say they have no friends. Why are they not going to go to the snooty private school anymore? Today Abbey said they “can’t”. Is it bad grades or are they going broke?

Re: 8 Passengers: Spreading a Disease while Doing As I Please | Part #16
Shari comments about her eye being blurry. I didn't see the vlog when she first mentioned this, asking for ideas of what could be going on. This is a perfect example of where Ruby fails as a mom. If Shari has told Ruby or Kevin about it, why haven't they gotten her to the doctors? This is not normal. Many eye issues can be stopped in their tracks or prevented if they are caught early on and the longer she goes, the more damage she could incur. But, hey, she can still drive cause it only takes one good eye.
