Mentioned this earlier in the thread but it seems like a big risk with designer mixes. Labs/golden retrievers can be like 80 lbs. Even if the genetics are mixed with a mini or teacup poodle, there’s always a chance they take after the bigger breed.emilyk16 wrote:Does anyone else think Copper seems big for a ‘petite’ doodle? Re: Ellie & Jared: Righteous Ellie wants designer baby! | Part #126
Righteous Ellie again....
She keeps going on about getting hate from the vlog and IG posts. Says “she’s trying.” I don’t see any negative comments on her post from today. Has she deleted them, or was there a different post?
She’s saying she can’t help where she lives and that she hasn’t had more exposure to people of colour. I get this, but she also does YT for a living and their “community” and “friends” extend far beyond Utah. They stick to a certain type of friend, and their ignorance goes beyond just racism. Where are the collabs with single mom YTers? Where is the support for this that don’t have “cookie cutter” lives? Why are there no collabs or friendships with YTers of colour? They’ve had “friends” fly in from Alabama, the UK, California, etc. Why wasn’t there more diversity in the couples they selected for the IVF grant?
I do think Jared is trying. His posts have at least tried to show a willingness to educate himself. That said, he also grew up in Washington and had more exposure to diversity. He also has more empathy. Ellie couldn’t even stick to the blackout. She had to make a story and make things about herself. People don’t want to hear her say she’s trying. Just show you’re trying. DO EDUCATE yourself. Don’t lie. So we really believe she and Jared are talking for HOURS every night like she says after the kids go to bed? Does that sound like anything we’ve ever seen from Ellie? Remember Walmart? Even things like that are part of the problem Ellie.
She doesn’t get it, and I don’t think he has the emotional maturity and intelligence to even understand the privilege she lives and what it is people are fighting for. I appreciate that it sounds like Jared is trying to educate her, but I think she isn’t hearing him. She seems more frustrated by the inconvenience than empathetic.
What vlog did they get criticism for and remove on Sunday?

I haven’t posted on here in years. I’ve stuck to lurking & liking for the most part. But like most of you I can’t stand any of them...
They have done some pretty horrible shit & I’ll never “like” or support them. But I will not be critical of Ellie for acknowledging her privilege as a white woman. I won’t bash her for posting or defending herself from negative comments in regards to her black out Tuesday post. I’m a black woman & I am personally not participating in this black out Tuesday simply because the original meaning & reason has been lost. There are many ways to show solidarity & support. Right now is not the time to be silenced.
NO WHITE PERSON (or non black person) SHOULD GET A PAT ON THE BACK FOR SPEAKING OUT AGAINST RACISM. But it’s never too late to acknowledge your privilege, learn & be better. I know most people will think this is an attention or self righteous thing for her & you might be right but..
I’m judging those who are willing to stay silent & stay ignorant.

Ellie & Jared: Righteous Ellie wants designer baby! | Part #126
It wasn’t just the blackout Tues post she was defending. That one didn’t even have any negative comments. It was more than likely the post she deleted on Sunday about how they had a fun home church session on Sat teaching the kids about loving thy neighbour. It didn’t even mention BLM, George Floyd or any ways to help. Many aren’t participating in blackout Tues so I don’t judge that, but if you are going to do it... do it 100% or not at all imo. It’s the least you can do. Yes Ellie should be able to speak up for herself, but maybe not when she’s chosen to also “not speak” to support BLM.Kay91_ wrote:I haven’t posted on here in years. All that said, I don’t feel she’s acknowledging her privilege at all though. She never said anything in prior incidents, and only seems to be doing so now because she has to. Plus to me it seems more like she’s interested in defending herself, more than actually fighting for the freedom of everyone else.
Buying a book is seriously the least she can do. How about exposure? They shouldn’t need to now teach their kids not to be racist. Kids aren’t born that way. They learn it. E&J have surrounded themselves solely with other white Christian YTers.

Re: Ellie & Jared: Righteous Ellie wants designer baby! | Part #126
The way I see it, Ellie was never going to do anything like this perfectly. Nobody can, really, but she in particular is not too bright and she’s very privileged. But, I personally think there’s something to be said for the fact that she is trying to speak up even though she knows she won’t do it just right and knows she’s uneducated and has grown up in a white bubble. The rest of her family has totally failed at showing any kind of solidarity with these recent events and although that’s a low bar to compare her to, she’s at least done better than them and most of the white Utah Mormons online who have had a pathetic or nonexistent response. And I think she has a lot of white moms who follow her who her minimal acknowledgment of these issues could actually have an effect on, because they probably all follow other boring white influencers who totally ignore it. I dunno, that’s just what I’m thinking.
Re: Ellie & Jared: Righteous Ellie wants designer baby! | Part #126
She’s damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t. At least she’s acknowledging her “ignorance” and opening her mind and wanting to raise her children without prejudice. If she reaches out to minority groups for collabs, I’m sure she would be slammed, accused of being insincere (probably) just for the sake of improving her brand.
She’s selfish, spoiled and ignorant in so many ways, but she is posting her support #blackoutuesday.
Bonnie - let me tell you about when I washed a mans hair.
The other Griffiths I can’t comment on because I don’t follow them on the regular.

Re: Ellie & Jared: Righteous Ellie wants designer baby! | Part #126
Ellie is always given a pass other YTers aren’t. It’s always “she’s trying, but she is sheltered and not smart.” At some point needs to shut up, grow up and learn so she can educate her kids. She’s doing the least she can do.
Does anyone actually think she’s going to be more inclusive when this all passes?
But fair enough. I’ve said my peace and I’ll agree to disagree. As a white woman and mother myself, I know there is far more we can do to help and I hope others will do it.

Sigh, I’m not giving her a pass in the slightest. Just saying she appears to be making some effort to grow, educate herself and her children. Why is that a bad thing? Sorry but this is part of the problem. If she was really trying, then she would take the feedback that she is getting and try to understand it and more forward. Not cry poor white me is trying and you were all mean to me. She doesn't get a pass and I find it absolutely disgusting that she would take the time to try to garner sympathy and put the attention back on herself. She doesn't deserve and none of us who are white deserve a pat on the back right now for "trying" and she's upset that she's not get praise and pat on the back.Ohnonotme wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 1:17 pmSigh, I’m not giving her a pass in the slightest. What Bonnie has said hasn’t been enough either imo, but I wouldn’t say it’s crickets either though. Bonnie just gets more hate and criticism in general. She’s participating in the blackout as well and has acknowledged her privilege, so I guess she’s doing the same bare minimum Ellie is. If it’s good enough for Ellie, it should be good enough for Bonnie for you.Ohnonotme wrote:Sigh, I’m not giving her a pass in the slightest. It’d have been less problematic if she’d said nothing at all, and do her “growing and educating” quietly and not seek attention. Put up #blackouttuesday on IG, maybe even turn off comments if she can’t handle them, and leave it at that.gopedjane wrote:Sorry but this is part of the problem. Yes I think it would have but to turn off comments because she can’t handle them means that she is not trying to understand because typically the comments she doesn’t like are constructive.Ohnonotme wrote:It’d have been less problematic if she’d said nothing at all, and do her “growing and educating” quietly and not seek attention. Unfortunately, she like the rest of us can’t please all of the people all of the time. There would be some constructive criticism for sure, but there’d also be some absolute rude rubbish as well from the keyboard warriors. Sort of like us, haha.gopedjane wrote:Yes I think it would have but to turn off comments because she can’t handle them means that she is not trying to understand because typically the comments she doesn’t like are constructive.Ohnonotme wrote:It’d have been less problematic if she’d said nothing at all, and do her “growing and educating” quietly and not seek attention. The entire Griffiths cult is incredibly toxic for a myriad of reasons. But let me quite clear, when it comes to trying to be an ally during THIS particular moment, there are STARK differences in the ways Bonnie and Ellie handled themselves that must be pointed out.
Ellie:
1. Actively and openly engages with her husband and children with topics surrounding race (supposedly) and purchases children's book on these important topics.
2. Shares these resources with her platform.
3. Posts actually videos of herself on her stories acknowledging her privilege and ignorance and vows to continue to learn while providing action-oriented resources to her viewers.
Bonnie:
1. Posts a tone-deaf vlog with absolute NOTHING to do with the movement thereby invalidating her #blackouttuesday post.
2. Posts an aesthetically pleasing picture of HERSELF and her family to her IG speaking in fluffy platitudes and hiding behind her deeply problematic religion.
3. Posts a blackout picture 6 hours AFTER Ellie showing that she had to "think on it."
This is bigger than the Griffiths. This is not an Ellie vs. Bonnie argument, but if you do not understand these differences and clump them together as one homogenous "they both suck" category, then I'm afraid that you have a lot of learning to do yourself.

Ellie & Jared: Righteous Ellie wants designer baby! | Part #126
KayCeeee....
Your comparison conveniently disregards the first post Ellie made and the one she deleted though. It was a picture perfect picture of her and Tommy. She also apparently posted a tone deaf vlog they later deleted.
If Bonnie deleted her first post, read here about what she “should have done” and then posted it too then she’d be doing the same as Ellie. She has also shared the resources so...
Ellie didn’t get anything. She didn’t try at first either. She missed the mark just as her sister (and mother and other family/friends) did. She changed her reaction based on feedback and what others have done just as she always does. And it doesn’t sound like she’s the one wanting to educate the kids, it sounds to me like Jared is. But ok. Ellie bought a book and Bonnie didn’t. She sucks a fraction less if that will make you feel better. Still the least she can do.
Let’s not forget.... Ellie is the person who has a great day on the day her aunt dies. She laughs watching a friend’s traumatic birth and says it was “hilarious.” She never has appropriate reactions herself. The fact that she later “edits” her initial reaction doesn’t make it genuine. So yeah, they both suck because they both come from the same shallow place.
I think a lot of the defence of Ellie is coming from a place of wanting to make Bonnie worse. That, or people don’t realize how often historically Ellie (or let’s face it.... Jared) has changed her edit.

To be clear, this is not about an Ellie vs. Bonnie argument. I am pointing out the difference between what "not racist" and "anti-racist" work on an influencer platform looks like. If you're unfamiliar with the difference between the two, I implore you to do the homework. They are VERY different, and both Griffiths sisters showed textbook examples of each.HelloSweetie wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 4:32 pm KayCeeee....

I'm not entirely sure what the backstory about Ellie's aunt passing has to do with using her platform to do with anti-racist work, other than finding ways to poke holes in her integrity, but it's clear that you have an agenda to hold each sister to different standards. You like Bonnie. You hate Ellie. We get it. That's OKAY! But please, please, de-center yourself from this particular situation. Do not use your personal biases toward each sister to espouse "whataboutism" during a very important movement.

I don’t like Bonnie or Ellie. Nice try though.

I actually like Bonnie a whole lot more than Ellie, I just see Ellie pretty clearly saying more than any of her siblings on the issue. But none of these people are going to become front line BLM activists any time soon lol so I think the comparisons are probably hardly worth the time.
I’ve been thinking, Bonnie and Ellie must love the small break they’re getting while everyone is focused on Ruby’s madness!
