I do think it's white people's obligation to at the very least show support for blm, but I haven't seen any evidence that Frank is a racist. Within the police force there is SUCH a culture of institutional racism - maybe firefighters are similar and he doesn't have the balls to offend anyone at his station?

If someone is “reluctant to post” because they’re worried about losing followers then they need to re-evaluate their lives.

FrEnk staying silent and not liking any of Britney’s posts speaks volumes, it shows were he stands. It’s disgusting because some of the ppl that follow his pathetic account, channel and use the promo codes that pay his bills are BLACK. All the ppl like him that are just NOW posting tryna act like they took so long because they didn’t know what to say.....fuck that!! You can still share shit while you gather your thoughts, it also doesn’t take a week to think about what to say. He’s only posting because he’s being pressured to...periodT.

Trust me if you really truly cared about what is going on, losing followers would be the least of your worries.

Oh no I totally agree! Sorry if it made it sound like I was justifying his actions, that wasn't my intention at all. White discomfort is nothing in the face of black lives. I agree that an emergency services worker, especially one who is so thirsty to be an influencer, staying silent about disgusting racism and murder by his colleagues for so long is at best ignorance.

Unrelated to what's been being discussed recently, but I am howling that she posted how she did those french braids on Aria today after I posted a few weeks ago that Ean's girlfriend most likely did them on Aria previously. It's so funny to me that she reads here. I don't blame her for trying though, and I'm sure it's something Aria/all the girls would like done to their hair eventually.

Ok I’m not defending frank maybe he’ll talk more in a video w her. I personally haven’t posted anything. I’ve made comments, liked stuff etc. I signed the online petition thru text for him. I go on sm to relax and not deal with what’s going on. I try not to think about it more than necessary, I have my thoughts and opinions and am grieving, but maybe I’m just the type who prefers keep to themselves. I don’t believe everyone who didn’t post expressing their sadness is a racist

Whaaaat?? No no no no. The point is to not BE comfortable. Those experiencing racism every day do not have a choice. We have an opportunity to grow, feel uncomfortable while we learn and do what we can to be ANTI-RACIST. Frank has a platform. He chose that life. He should use it for the good of the country, not bow out because he wants his social media to be a place to relax and he doesn’t want to feel uncomfortable.

I wouldn’t look towards frank for anything he married brit that’s enough for me. I see enough of that on on the news and everywhere else. I see plenty of crime and good deeds everyday involving the matter. At the end of the day it all boils down towards change and who is in charge our country. I chose to not think about it more than usual which is my choice. Everyone reacts differently towards times of trial. The thought of my boyfriend being picked on innocently and not come home one day I don’t need those tears and worry everyday. I would rather not be chastised for my own reaction towards a mans unfair horrible death thank you.

Maybe I'm a fool, but I think we have to meet people where they are. We can't bully them into change, we have to help them change by being human to them. There are a LOT of racists on this planet, and they all are at different levels, where some proudly call it out, all the way to those who harbor racist feelings, but are blind to them. We can't change any of them by calling them names and bullying; if only it were that easy. We have to have (excuse the term) frank discussions about WHY they harbor these ideas, find the error in their logic and root it out. Some people will never change, but I think a good number of people are totally capable of being decent people. Frank clearly grew up in the South, which is one of the most racist places in the US. He likely learned to have some racist views while growing up. Whether he eschewed them or not, he might have some views that we'd consider racist, whereas he might consider himself forward-thinking. Who knows. The point is he did show some minor support for the cause, even if it was not the best. There are a lot of people not doing anything. He probably felt really uncomfortable posting, and maybe he DID do it because he felt pressured. He did do it, though. Let's all hope this is an eye-opening experience for him. If it changes him one step forward, that's still a step forward.

Personal:
My brother's wife's family is HIGHLY religious, her father is a well-known bishop within the church. Well, my brother is trans, and they disowned my sister-in-law when they got together. It was awful. She was absolutely heartbroken. Anyway, they ended up marrying and having children via donor. Her parents found out about it and asked to see the grandchildren. Instead of telling them to fuck off after all they'd done to her, she welcomed them with open-arms. They've now accepted their marriage, see them every Sunday and have a really amazing relationship. They love my brother and are grateful they're together. It didn't happen overnight, but through long, persistent conversations using warmth and love. Change is real and can happen.

Apologies if I come across as a do-gooder or offend anyone. I just think we need to have realistic expectations. I SO WISH we could change everyone's heart immediately, but it's an impossible task. Britney showing support is great. Frank showing some support is good. Again, I find it difficult to use words to describe exactly how I feel, so apologies if this is really inelegant or stupid sounding.

Exactly! My son is in 4th grade and they briefly touched on slavery this year for the first time. Very doubtful they learned about it in 1st grade...good job britch...making up stories to seem relatable.

Brit doesn't understand that all white people hold racist ideas at some level because they are socialized that way. Just like how even women have internalized sexism. It doesn't make you a bad person it makes you a product of your raising. Recognizing where you hold sexist or homophobic or racist ideas and being like yeah that's fucked up I can do better then do better.

Brit won't even to that emotional labor for her own children I doubt she will for some random black friend she says she has.

Her husband is a racist trump supporter. She has never mentioned race before. She has never taught her children about race. She took way too long to say anything at all. But she wants a bunch of praise for allowing her daughter to play with a little girl who is black. Great, praise away.
