Russell is shown playing a game in an instagram story of the griffiths grandparents.
I think the whole family went on a trip this weekend and Bonnie is going to post a vlog about it today or tomorrow

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
I just want to make sure this comment at the end of the last thread doesn't get lost in the shuffle because it absolutely hit the nail on the head. @WheresMyCoffee said:
I couldn't agree more. It should not be okay for a rich white family to do this to their children as a choice and means of discipline when they are fully capable of providing for their children above and beyond but choose not to even fulfill their basic needs. Especially not okay because the woman practically brags about it online and without doubt causes other parents to think it is okay or even good. And on TOP of that, the kids earn a huge portion of the family's income. If the things Ruby and Kevin do on purpose were happening to underprivileged, non-white kids, I'm sure it would be more obvious to everyone that it was neglect. It's still neglect.Having an i-pad is a privledge, having your lunch at school and a bed to sleep in are basic needs you need to meet for your child. If they were a poor family and the child went without lunch on more than one occasion or it was noted that a child was sleeping on a bean bag for over 7 months you KNOW that cps would be involved, why is it Ok just because they are a rich white mormon family?

I'm calling BS on that quote from Eve - kids wouldn't naturally say that. Either she'd been prompted or she just didn't say it.ReginaPhalange wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 4:47 am I'm usually just lurking, but I have to share this with you. I have no words... Found on Twitter.

I know the picture looks like Ruby, but this isn't Ruby's blog. This was posted on Twitter saying it is Kendall from "its R life" vlog. She apparently spoke out on IG about 8 passengers and said she was going to put up a video about the situation. But then the Franke's lawyer contacted her manager and Kendal said they would not be commenting further on the 8 passengers. Sounds like Kendall has some skeletons in her closet and used to have similar parenting tactics to Ruby.Alycat_2001_uk wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 6:46 amI'm calling BS on that quote from Eve - kids wouldn't naturally say that. Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
Ruby is neglectful and the emotional abuse that she throws out is beyond me. Do you remember when she made Russell ( I think ) go without a jacket during the winter because he lost his (she kept telling him this what happens when you are not responsible) I think he was in kindergarten and the year that Julie and Abby had to share a coat. I sit and watch these thinking why doesn't she save coats or shoes to hand down to another child or if someone lost theirs, but no these kids are told they can only have one of anything. Ruby goes through the kids things and just throws stuff away does not care about sentimental value. They don't get to keep things they did in school or even certificates. She trashes everything of theirs but keeps her stuff. Shari hides her things under the bed or she lets Shari keep some things because she is her fave. I have also seen these kids wearing clothes/shoes that are too small or she buys things too big so she doesn't have to buy them again. Eve is never dressed correctly for the weather. I noticed this with Bonnie's kids too. Bonnie was so caught up in her appearance and her life that her kids wore shoes with holes and high-water pants. The old Bonnie would never allowed this, but i think I'm a celebrity Bonnie does not care about her kids because they are props in her show. Ruby on the other hand feel think her kids owe her for her given birth to them. How can a woman who forget to pick up her kids, forgets Dr. appointments, school functions, sporting events, forgets to turn water off and floods the house, forgets to turn food off when leaving and cause severe smoke damage to the house expect a five year to remember to do everything. The little kids go days without a bath. Russell has severe anxiety and still wets the bed at 8, Eve was so under weight she had to buy ensure for her. Ruby is sad and I completely agree with the other poster if this was a poor family or a family of color cps would be doing an investigation.

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
Having a meal at school or sleeping in a bed and not the floor, having shoes that fit you, being able to look back on your achievements, and having basic privacy is not a privilege to be taken away for minor misbehavior. Ruby very clearly has no idea about childhood development and setting healthy boundaries for the kids.
A six-year-old should not be expected to pack their own lunches. A fifteen-year-old is not an adult and therefore should not be sent to a wilderness behavior camp for minor misbehavior. These punishments don't even teach the poor kids anything, they just show that their caretaker is evil and wants to pick on them.
It is so sad that the kids think that they shouldn't have any friends, it could impact the way they behave socially for the rest of their lives and apparently their mother sees nothing wrong with it.
I am so glad they are finally being exposed.

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
I don't even understand how the wilderness camp could help anyone. The only thing it teaches is responsibility, but it heaps way too much responsibility on kids who are too young, while depriving them of basic needs (like hygiene and adequate food, as some of them have to forage for food, if I remember correctly). A good way for a teenager to learn responsibility is to have age-appropriate chores or to get a part-time job. Not to be sent away to somewhere that seems harsher than a prison.JetpackBlue wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 9:01 am A six-year-old should not be expected to pack their own lunches. Like you've said, this isn't discipline, this is punishment that only benefits the punisher and not the punished.

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
When did chad point the BB gun in Russell’s face before or after the “desert retreat”? If it was before the “retreat” then he was punished and should have no bearing on the latest behavior. If it was after then they wasted money on sending him away as he is not remorseful. I do believe pointing a gun BB gun, paintball gun, or cap gun in someone’s face is a punishable offense, just not 7 months without a bed offense. I think waking a sibling and tricking him into believing he was going to Disney is not a 7 months without a room or bed offense at all. Leaving a kid hanging on a basketball hoop is no offense. He could have dropped himself down. I hope all of them get taken down from YT, though I must admit I would love to be the fly on the wall to be able to see Ruby, Bonnie, Julie, and Ellie (well Jared) scramble to fix their nails and eyebrows.

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
Do you all remember there was a vlog during the online classes during the pandemic where Ruby said Eve wasn't staying for the whole class? Eve would stay for one hour, the teacher gave the kids a short break where they could get a snack, etc then come back to finish up the class. When they took the break, Eve wasn't coming back off the break. Ruby wasn't supervising Eve doing the classes and found out when she went by Eve's computer and the class was still going on. I can't remember if the teacher said something to Ruby about it-I think the teacher did contact Ruby and told her Eve was behind on some homework. Plus in the last vlog Shari made, she said if they didn't get the reading books Eve had, Shari couldn't get her yearbook. Well that would be the same teacher that Ruby told she wasn't bringing Eve a lunch. If they do investigate the family, the teacher may tell them about the problems with the classes and Ruby not supervising a kindergarten student to make sure everything is done on top of the lunch incident. Ruby was a stay at home mother so there was no excuse!
I think they have just had the annual Griffith reunion by a post made by Jennifer on IG. Let's see how much the family has the Franke's in their vlog! Boy I imagine there was a big pow wow after the kids went to bed on all the drama!

I just watched one of the videos on the last thread and Ruby's lawyer is contacting the tiktok and YT folks making the videos. I think that is going to backfire on them!

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
The comments about Ruby making such small portions of food combined with my own upbringing make me wonder why so many religious moms seem to have some sort of poverty kink.
My mom would do things like make half a pound of pasta for the whole family for dinner and then say things like "don't take too much, that's all there is" while the other half pound of pasta plus five more boxes sat untouched in the pantry. Then when it inevitably ran out while everyone was still hungry (or before everyone even got a first helping) she would claim she had no idea that wasn't enough for everyone and then get upset to the point of going off to sulk by herself if anyone made themselves a sandwich. She would buy multiple 12 packs of soda at a time but make the whole family split one can at a mealtime so it "wouldn't run out too fast". She would buy one frozen pizza for the whole family then only allow everyone one slice because she was going to save the rest for "another time", knowing full well that she was going to let it go bad in the fridge and then throw it out. She would buy food items that no one was allowed to eat because she was "saving it for a special recipe", but then when it went bad she would get upset and ask why no one ate it before it went bad.
There were other mothers in our church (non-LDS) like this too, and it would lead to things like refilling the soap dispensers in the church bathrooms with water and some very tense moments over potluck leftovers. Seeing the same bizarre relationship with food (and resources in general) in this Mormon family is fascinating to me. It makes me wonder if it has to do with a longing for the romanticized "struggling traditional mother" trope in a world where food scarcity isn't an issue for middle and upper class mothers.

I wonder what necessity or "luxury" will be cut from the kids' list now so they can pay the lawyers. We know neither Ruby nor Kevin will do without.sheltiefan wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 11:32 am I just watched one of the videos on the last thread and Ruby's lawyer is contacting the tiktok and YT folks making the videos. I doubt the actually need to cut anything to pay the lawyers, but they'll act like they do anyway as an excuse to force more minimalism on the kids that earn every cent they have outside Kevin's teaching salary.
