Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
Does anyone know which vlog has St. Jennifer licking ice cream off of Julie's leg?
These women all claim to have wanted to be mothers, but none of them like their kids. I honestly think they wanted to be mothers so that they could have people worship them the way they were made to worship St. Jennifer the Perfect. The thing is, that when they were growing up and being told that they didn't need friends because they had each other, there was no internet and no YouTube, so there was no way to see that their family was dysfunctional. Now Ellie sends her boys to the neighbor's house all the time, so they get to see other people's families. Ruby did all the "crush" videos with Kesley Leroy, so Chad got to see a different family. Shanna Leroy has issues to be sure, but she does seem to enjoy her kids. Plus, I wonder if sending Chad to Anasazi backfired because Chad got to talk to other kids and maybe see how crazy Ruby is. I don't know if Bonnie's kids have any chance to see what other families are like. Maybe in one of those silly 80's movies Bonnie is always making them watch?

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
I always get the sense from Ruby that deep down she carries a lot of anger and resentment over how her life turned out. From what I can see she was actually a very talented musician and quite driven to succeed when she was younger but it seems like she gave all of that up when she married Kevin and started having children. I know she says that it was her choice to marry young and drop out of college but she was pretty much raised to believe that it was her only option. Let's face it - she had been raising her younger siblings for years.
Roll on a lot of years and six children later and she seems ...angry most of the time. Kevin clearly has his own life outside of the home with a successful and stimulating career while Ruby has....nothing - other than following her kids round with a camera and selling the footage for money. It's very clear she has mentally and physically opted out of anything more than the most rudimentary parenting. Ruby doesn't want to parent, she wants to CONTROL her kids because she lacks any control over how her own life has turned out. I think that her bizarre behavior started to get worse once Eve started school because all of a sudden Ruby realized that the amount of power and control she has wielded over the kids has decreased as they get older.
I also think this is why she has turned to all the counselling woo; she is becoming increasingly unhinged and instead of trying to look inside herself and figure out why she is so angry, she is projecting it onto everyone around her and trying to position herself as knowledgeable. Classic narcissist behavior.

I believe it's Ruby and Kevin that have that rule. I seem to remember them in a vlog talking about how you never know what could happen in someone else's house. Is it Ellie who doesn't let the kids have sleepovers, even with grandparents?
I think a lot of it boils down to Mormon culture. Having a lot of kids is very common in their circles.I honestly think they wanted to be mothers so that they could have people worship them the way they were made to worship St. Jennifer the Perfect.

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
Omg, thank you for finding this. I forgot how awful and untruthful that story sounded. Seriously, she waited DAYS before taking him to the hospital? Poor baby must've been screaming in pain for days straight. Also, the way she tells it just sounds off. How she starts off saying, "I dropped him off the couch" and "I took him to the hospital" then she changes it and is, like, well actually I didn't drop him he just rolled off, and I actually didn't take him to the hospital until days later. The way she describes it doesn't sound like the impact would be enough to break his femur either. She acted like he rolled off and she almost caught him, but fumbled him and he fell, so it wasn't just a straight drop to the floor. Why was he so close to the edge of the couch that all she had to do was lean forward and he would fall off? How would neither her nor Kevin recognize that something was really wrong? If it was that bad of a fall and he was crying in pain, why wouldn't they take him to the ER immediately to get him checked out? I also wonder how many days she means by 'a couple days'. Does she actually mean weeks later and maybe that's why the bone had already started to heal? That parts sounds the most suspicious to me, as there doesn't seem to be any valid reason why she would wait to take him in... unless there was something else she was trying to hide.imoverit wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 2:16 pm FINALLY. In "Back to School PREP" Ruby says that Russell did not start to sit up or crawl until 18 months, and walked around 21 months. She gave him the extra year before starting kindergarten to physically develop some more. She says she doesn't know why he was slow to develop:
"One of the reasons could be that he ... I even (??) saying it out loud cus I still feel a little guilt over it. I dropped him off the couch, he didn't fall straight down but he rolled off. He was not even 6 months old, he was very young, he was just an infant. We were laying on the couch and I like leaned up and he rolled off and I grabbed him, so he didn't fall straight to the ground I kind of fumbled him. And he fell to the floor and I took him to the hospital. So um after he didn't stop crying for a couple days I took him in to the hospital and they x-rayed him and they said 'it looks like he broke his femur, but babies heal so quickly it's only been a day or two and it's already starting to heal'. So they didn't put him in a body cast or anything they just said 'be very careful when you change his diaper, don't lift from the legs, kinda lift from the legs and the bottom, use a lot of support when you change his diapers'. So that could contribute to why physically he developed slowly. Mentally he's doing just great. Then he grew up. He's a very healthy very happy very kind-hearted and empathetic little boy."
(Sorry for the huge transcription, but she could end up deleting the video as it was tucked away and hard to find! Well here you go Ruby I guess...)
I agree with the decision to go to kindergarten later rather than be one of the youngest in his class on top of the slow development. I'm just glad all this doesn't seem to have had long term consequences for him as he seems very physically normal now. But wow how scary.

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
I appreciate you posting the video/ while it may not have gotten her kicked off of youtube it brought more awareness to what is going on. It helped me realize how horrible of a parent she is to her kids. When I saw all of these videos I just thought it was strict parenting and while I may never liked what she was doing I knew that she parented her children differently then I would have. After seeing Sloans and other peoples videos on youtube this made me realize that this is not just strict parenting this is abuse. I couldn't imagine my mom not giving me a lunch if I forgot and hoping I didn't eat either. She would make sure I had a lunch and she would have never made me pack my lunch at 6 years old. That also really sucks that just because eve used the ipad for things non school related everyone lost all technology for the whole summer except for shari. It was also funny when she tried to play dumb about taking away the remote for the whole summer when chad asked about it. She was planning on taking it away all along but wondered why chad thought she would do that. I don't get why abby and chad lost their phones as they did nothing to lose them at all. I think that ruby should have at the very least told them when they were getting it back. If I got my phone back I would be more likely to be on good behavior then if I wasn't told if or when I would get it back as I wouldn't have any motivation to change. I have never seen anyone threaten to cut their daughters stuff animal if they don't stop cutting things. I also don't like how eve got in trouble for asking what movie they were seeing and ruby told her she was being ungrateful because of that. Then eve hugs ruby and says sorry but ruby tells her to do it again because she wasn't "paying attention" because she was talking to the babysitter on the phone and wanting to get it on camera for attention. I also don't get why chad lost his bed for 7 months because he played a joke on his brother as there was no need for this punishment. I don't have a brother but I'm sure most brothers have joked around with each other at some point before. Hopefully ruby gets in trouble for what she did and the kids are rescued and get their electronics back.PumpkinHead wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 12:43 pm Well, looks like Ruby finally got my video taken down (I was the one who reuploaded the infamous vlog). Bonnie might not have wanted to kiss her dad goodnight, due to facial hair stubble. I hated my dad's stubble as a kid.Kattiness Everdeen wrote: ↑Sun Jun 14, 2020 8:36 am A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE, RUBY'S BIGGEST INFLUENCES
Jen tells Landon to get down on all fours so she can milk him (later in the night Landon and Julie force their baby to suck on Landon's udders).
Here Jen tells Bonnie's kids that hot sauce is only for punishing mouthy kids, at 2.15:
Here Jen slams baby Ruby off a ledge into the bed and she cries, 6:43:
Jen only gives Ruby attention when she mentions she cleaned the house. She also notes that these 4 very young children had been "working outside all day". Bonnie's reaction to being told they had the wrong baby was adorable though (at 5:00).
Here baby Ruby gets manhandled by Dad at the start, then at 2:06 she nearly snaps her neck rolling head over feet, and Dad says to do it again. At 3:27 Dad hangs Ruby by her neck on a swing.
In this one Ruby gets two birthday presents, is called spoiled by her Dad and gets super defensive about ruining the surprise (1:16). Sound familiar? At 4.36 Bonnie runs from her Dad trying to get bedtime kisses, screaming "don't poke me".
In this one, Jen tells the kids they can have a dish of Grapenuts for dinner and Ruby asks if it will make her throw up. Strange. At 4:58 Jen lifts the new puppy up by the neck and starts "blanket training" the dog like we see her daughters do today.
In this one, it's Julie's turn to get manhandled by Dad, restraining her face until she cries at 2:42. Jen has to tell him to stop in almost EVERY video. He repeatedly bounces a ball off her head at 4:11.
And here Grandpa bullies Lincoln for his hair which he desperately wants to cut (his mom won't let him), then intentionally let's go of him, slamming his head so hard it rebounds from the impact (at 11.55)

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
I think the one thing that has always stood out to me and bothered me the most is that ruby has said she doesn’t like spending time with her children.
She doesn’t play with them.
I’m sorry but if it’s your dream to be a mother and want a bunch of kids don’t you want to get to know them? Enjoy them?
She’s never sat down on the floor and interacted with them as little kids. She’s never played dolls with Eve, or done legos with Russell or did arts and crafts with Julie, made jewelry with Abby, etc.
I find that the saddest thing.
She doesn’t even know what to buy the kids for Christmas, she struggles every single year because she doesn’t know what her own children like. I couldn’t imagine growing up like that.

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
Well, yeah, the Mormon church does encourage large families. But there's more to it than just that with the Griffiths. Ruby had multiple miscarriages and they were not financially stable, and yet she kept getting pregnant. Ellie says she and Jared were _broke_, and living on potatoes, and some weeks had to choose between gas in the car and food. She may have been exaggerating, but I do believe they weren't financially stable. And she was getting fertility treatments. The Mormon church doesn't encourage people to have babies that they can't afford, and birth control isn't forbidden. I personally think that the Griffiths drive to reproduce is related to their dysfunction. It's obviously just my opinion, of course.nesland300 wrote:I believe it's Ruby and Kevin that have that rule. And about Russell's leg-- the femur is the strongest bone in the body. And babies bones aren't fully calcified, so they are more flexible than adult bones. They're harder to break. That whole story of hers is fishy AF. I can't imagine how she got out of the ER without being reported to CPS. Moms who show up with untreated fractures get side eyed _hard_.

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
I don’t like to talk about the abuse I endure as a child and blame myself for a long time. Therapy for many years help. The one thing that makes me sad about the Frankie kids is that although their abuse is no where near to the abuse I endured you wonder why didn’t any one step in. My aunts and uncles family etc knew about the abuse but no one helped us. I confronted my aunt who could hear the abuse because she lived one floor underneath us and she would always say: “why didn’t you just come over or just leave”. I finally was able to say I was a child you were the adult and you failed us. My point for even sharing is that as adults we can’t turn a blind eye. I hope they break this pattern of abuse and heal when they realize that some of their mothers behavior is not normal. I just hope an adult steps in even her brother and just talks to her they don’t have to call cps but talk to your sister and let her know it’s not ok what’s she’s doing. Sorry end rant

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
I think it’s fascinating how we feel bad for Ruby’s children because Ruby is a terrible mother so it’s hard to blame the kids for their actions. And now people here are discussing Ruby’s childhood and her parents and can see that she herself was a victim much like her own children are now. Most of us, me included, aren’t willing to justify Ruby’s actions because of that but I do think it’s interesting how shitty parents really set the pace for their entire bloodline.Catface2 wrote:As we all can see...because all of them have shared it all on the web...the abuse runs deep in the Griffiths clan. I remember Jennifer and the girls cackling on about how I think it was Jens mother was a farm wife but always dressed as a socialite in beautiful dresses...that to me seems nuts. I’m pissed that the men the girls married let this shit go on with their kids...disgusting.

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
I find it interesting that at least three of the girls’ husbands don’t find their parenting abusive. Julie Deru seems to timid and reserve to rule the roost. I think she lets Landon call the shots. Beau’s wife doesn’t seem to be abusive and puts value in education. They have their daughter in martial arts and vlogged her at a competition. Not a gender specific activity. I doubt Bonnie would ever allow Olivia to do Martial Arts. Ruby seems to get her kids into an activity to then say they can’t do it anymore.JayBlack wrote:I think it’s fascinating how we feel bad for Ruby’s children because Ruby is a terrible mother so it’s hard to blame the kids for their actions.
