Honestly, reading through these comments, it looks like 25% of people will do $5/month, 37% will do $2/month, and 38% will just walk away. There is no way Elle’s ego can take that big of a hit. I suspect she will charge a fee for one month, release her juicy divorce video “behind the paywall” and then go back to free content. Then she can say she addressed the living situation while skirting the issue publicly from now on.

She thinks she’s doing such a huge service, in reality she is just stealing other people’s money thinking she deserves it. What an entitled brat!

I honestly can't imagine there are people out there who are willing to accept "charity" so they can watch a mediocre YouTuber whine about her life.

I’m dying at the comments!

If she ends up charging closer to $5 and gets 5000 members, that’s $20-25k a month for 4 vlogs? Even $1x5000 is $5000 a month for 4 vlogs? Of regurgitated content where Elle shows her ass for 10 minutes while she scrubs a toilet with a porny-sounding voiceover about slow living. She’s out to lunch if she thinks her shitty content deserves that kind of pay day. I’m glad many people have said no thanks.

If Elle really wants to feel safe, she could just stop reading here. Call me crazy! But no, she’d rather play the humble victim as a way to justify this model. Errrrrrkay then.

She’s victimized by the algorithm, victimized by us Karens, victimized by the whole fucking universe apparently. Let’s hope her ceramics business really takes off then!

This truly rubbed me the wrong way. Asking viewers to pay to see content is just...so bizarre. It would be one thing if she opened a Patreon (which I actually think she has) and then incentivized that with added content, bonus videos, private Q & As, what have you. But putting your regular content behind a paywall and expecting "thousands" of subscribers to pay to watch is just...tacky. Her husband is a vet, they live in a nicer house than I do, she gets to stay home and take care of their kids, what is my incentive to paying to see the videos? And I can't justify enabling someone to roll in potentially thousands of dollars per month to put out one video per week? No thank you.

I used to really enjoy Elle, but I have always been rubbed the wrong way by her discontent with where her channel was. She was transparently obsessed with getting more views/getting more subscribers. She was always referencing and obsessing with what other Youtubers were doing, how they were getting clicks/views. She was so transparent about this being a business for her. And because of that, the quality of her videos suffered. She has talked about it before, but it really became forced, stilted, awkward content and everyone could feel her discontent and frustration. At this point, the train is too far off the rails, but she can't seem to understand that channels grow organically when it isn't forced. When the person behind the camera isn't obsessed with views and subscriber counts. Or, if they are, they are better at hiding it than Elle is. I get that this is her business and her brand and what not, but that is likely where it went wrong. You can see Youtubers who enjoy vlogging and enjoy it has a hobby - and then you see the ones who become much more obsessed with the business/money making aspect of it.

And can she guarantee that she will be putting out the proper amount of videos per week? And on time? AND content that she says she's going to provide? How many times in the last 3 months has she either had an excuse as to why she didn't have a video up or flat out just didn't address it. If people are paying you for videos you need to be prepared that, hell or high water, you have a video and it goes up when and where you say it will be. Or you're going to have a village full of rioters real fast.

Justameremuggle, that’s exactly right!!! And if we are judging on her past performance, she will fail to live up to these expectations, and it will be completely unacceptable because people are paying for this!

If you look at the comments, the most popular ones are those that say they won’t pay, that tells me a whole lot about how this is going to pan out for Elle. And one commenter mentioned how it’s a bad time financially for many people due to covid, and I actually can’t agree more. That didn’t cross my mind because we have VERY fortunately been unaffected financially, but nonetheless we are pinching pennies just in case, and I wish I could say the same for friends and family, but the truth is, people are hurting.

I guess it’s just so ironic to me that while the world is in complete turmoil, and Elle was playing the role of “woke citizen” she would follow it up with this brand of bullshit. If nothing, she’s very “on Brand” and it fits her self serving aesthetic PERFECTLY!

She’s a special kind of stupid.

I’m still dying at the “bursary” reply Elle made, saying other community members can sponsor those who can’t afford the membership. Because why should Elle cover or waive $1/mo to help a sister out?? Why should others be financially responsible for including people in the community that Elle created for herself?

I love how even as she appears to be selfless and inclusive...she is being selfish.

It’s really gross that she’s using her divorce vlog to sell the membership. I honestly think whatever transpired between her and Dan is ugly and Elle knows she looks bad in the story. She can’t spin it in such a way that she won’t get heavy criticism from EVERYBODY. So she’s hoping only the blind diehard followers will pay for the membership because they will suck her dick regardless. It’s not about safety. It’s about saving face.

Clearly she learned her lesson from the marriage confessions videos!!! Damn, those were great.

Oh. I'm totally in to pay a buck to stay a Karen. Heck. I'd even be willing to download the videos and upload them to a private account to share with you lovely ladies. She thinks a paywall is going to help. She's just trying to capitalize on her divorce. Nobody cares that a 200k (a very small following on YouTube) "influencer" split with her husband when everyone could tell she never really even liked him anyway. She thinks she's Kardashian status when really she's more like the Jones' next door.

Whoah her comments in today's video just got spicy. 87 dislikes and all the comments telling her the paywall is ridiculous has tons of likes. You ladies should check it out as Elle just clapped back, hard.

Can't screenshot them all as right now is actually the first time today I have to myself as a stay at home mom. Homeschooling, playing, cooking, feeding, planning, budgeting, errands, refereeing sibling fights is something Elle isn't doing as actively for her home and people in it. Instead, she is spending 30-40 hours a week brainstorming YouTubes algorithm, plagiarizing intentional living content for her new channel and newsletter, making crappy pottery in Dan's old jerk off corner, reorganizing and painting her walls blush pink and spending hours doing the natural curly girl method.

If it's not about the money and you're losing money, what is it? Oh, it's about the community? Or is it that you don't want to admit your separation to all of your followers? LOL I'm going option B. If she talks about it through the paid option she can go on regular YT and make people think she didnt ditch him as soon as she got her golden/girl third child. Actually that aspect of things really irks me because I truly think that she didn't even really wanna be with him before she was pregnant, but knew it was her only chance... so she stuck with him through the infertility and and soon as she was here? bam! Done.

I’ve never seen so many negative comments with so many thumbs up on her videos before. But i get it. I don’t know what she expected. I wouldn’t even pay $1 for my favourite YouTuber. We’ve gotten free content for years and they’ve made TONS of money from sponsorships and Adsense. I know things are changing, but in the real world, if you’re not making enough and you can’t get a raise, you look for a new job. GET A JOB ELLE. She has so many things she can choose from. Educator and hairdresser being the most realistic to choose from.

To be fair, I didn’t watch the video through, but I saw people mentioning how elle had to pay her mortgage, making it seem like she was solely responsible. If so, good. Good for dan for getting the f out and making her pay for the mortgage. She really thought she could make her rich vet husband buy her a nice house in a nice area, and then blow up their relationship, and still have him pay.

I hope this is a wake up call for her. She looks incredibly greedy for this. I can almost gaurentee her divorce announcement will be the first paid video she releases.

If she is losing money by moving to the membership model, then wouldn’t that mean the mean old algorithm is working well enough that she’s making a decent income and can already pay her bills and stay out of debt? I really don’t understand. Why would she be taking a so-called pay cut? I don’t think this will be a pay cut.

She’s counting on a minimum number of members to pay a fixed amount every month that she can depend on whether she puts in a ton of effort or not. Her income right now is probably at an all time low because she’s not creating content and the content she does create is not very good.

She keeps saying she wants to protect herself and the community and be the hero and collect a great payday for her nobility. When has her community ever asked for protection? Who has asked her to be the hero?

In the update on her YouTube community page or whatever she put her foot down and said that this move is the “opposite of selfish.” She literally thinks she is able to snow her audience by saying PAYING ME HELPS YOU MORE THAN IT HELPS ME.

Fuck that, Elle!!

I find it VERY interesting that she is angry about people’s responses to her decision. She really seems to think she deserves to take money directly from people’s pockets and has some serious attitude when they say NO!!

Maybe she hasn’t learned from all her failed merch/plagiarized ebooks/plagiarized fitness programs/etc. that when it comes to people giving up their hard-earned money ESPECIALLY RIGHT NOW, it better be for a damn good reason. Elle is NOT a good reason.
