This video was actually filmed a month ago before the drama but it's just now being uploaded. When is Ruby gonna back up to date with her vlogs?

So this latest video just proves yet again the kids are Rubys cash cows. The focus now seems to be on Shari "mothering" the kids yet again. My God if Shari isn't a mini Ruby. Ew. I wonder if the music was playing over Ruby yelling at the kids or telling them their every move. I'd like to say I'm shocked Ruby hasn't addressed things. I'm not. Ruby will never ever admit she is the issue here. Sad!

She may be able to take care of her siblings but she is incredibly immature for her age in so many areas. God forbid any of her siblings he good at anything without her making fun of them, making excuses, and using the fact that she’s older to prove how much smarter she is. This is completely irrelevant but it’ll be interesting so see how Shari handles the college admission process especially is any of her classmates get into top tier schools and Shari doesn’t.
Agreed. Shari, stop being a sore loser, it's okay to not be the best at everything.

She wouldn't make him quit sports she gets attention from that and it proves she's a good mom and that he's a mans man.

Definitely testing the waters to see if she gets likes based on just filming her kids, or vlogs are getting dislikes when Ruby is in them. Pulling a Jim Bob Duggar. Kids will be the cash cows and she and Kevin will still keep all the money for themselves even when Ruby is not in the vlogs.

That new vlog was a breath of fresh air, we didn't have to see Ruby and listen to one of her lectures and Chad hasn't been sent away for what he said on camera although this might have been filmed before everything went down. I do have a feeling Russell might not have been able to keep all of his prizes from his teacher. I would not be surprised if Ruby said "you can choose to keep 1 thing" and then throw everything else away. I did see that while Ruby was busy, one of the girls took her things up to her room, I hope she hid everything she wants to keep from her mother.

I decided to rewatch the vlog and noticed three things: Julie does call Shari a sore loser after she beats her the first time. If I were those kids I would get sick of having to prove myself to Shari only for Shari to continually beat them down. The other was Chad saying he felt accomplished beating Shari. Probably because that kid has spent his whole life being compared to his sister, being told he’s not as smart as Shari, not as responsible as Shari, not as helpful as Shari. Third was Shari’s face when both Julie and Chad beat her. She couldn’t handle not being the best and had to keep making excuses. It was probably eating away at her that someone was better than her at something, even something as small as a rubix cube.

Today I came across a post about narcissistic families.

A narcissistic family is one in which the needs of the parents are the focus and the children are expected in various ways to meet those needs.

As in other kinds of dysfunctional families, there is abuse and corresponding denial of the abuse. There is also secrecy, neglect, unrealistic expectations, an impoverishment of empathy, disrespect for boundaries, and ongoing conflict.

To gain acceptance, children must comply with the family narrative and value system. Expressions of difference are rejected and pathologized.

Everyone is expected to submit to the dominant narcissist’s authority, no matter how ignorant, arbitrary, cruel, or destructive it is.

Renewable resources in healthy families, love and respect are limited to the narcissist and whomever else is deemed worthy, usually a favored "golden" child.

Typically there is a family scapegoat who is made to bear the main burden of the family’s problems, frustration, and unhappiness, as well as the dominant narcissist’s projected self-loathing.

One-upmanship, favoritism, and constant comparison create a harshly competitive environment that undermines trust and breeds hostility and betrayal.

To sustain the dominant narcissist’s control over the family, there is denial of:

1. Abusive incidents
2. Continual atmosphere of fear
3. Ongoing mistreatment of the scapegoat/s
4. Routine forms of neglect

Although the scapegoat is targeted with the most abuse, everyone is on hyperalert because no one is safe from blame and rage.

Sounds familiar? Golden child aka Shark, scapegoat aka Chad.
Abusive incidents, neglect... yeah I think Ruby pretty much ticks all the boxes!

This is what ticks me off the most about Ruby. She buys herself all sorts of nice things with money earned by the kids, but she forces the kids to live with harsh minimalism. And when they do get their hands on something nice Ruby finds some petty nitpick of their behavior as an excuse to take it away. Or my least favorite, she pulls the "you don't need it" card.

My mom used to pull the last one on me all the time. For whatever reason she would randomly target certain toys of mine and make it her mission to get rid of them. She would hide them and say "you've played with it a lot, so it's put away for awhile". Then after waiting awhile she would throw them out and tell me I didn't need them because I hadn't played with them for a long time.

I could see Ruby doing the same thing. Gather up some of the kids' stuff and store it away somewhere. Wait a month. Say "oh, you haven't used it so you must have outgrown it" and throw it away.

Showed the kids playing rubix cubes, playing with a beach ball, and eating pizza and ice cream. Reminded me of the vlog with the kids getting the surprise package - only showing a perfect, happy little family for the most part. I did get annoyed that Shari was insisting that Julie cheated, then Abby had to take her side and start calling Julie a cheater, too. Lol, then she demands to have a rematch and has to lose three times before she accepts that she can't beat her siblings. It's ok to be competitive, but geez, just admit you lost! She's seventeen, and can't just let her twelve year old sister have one moment of glory, without trying to take it from her.

The only thing that really stood out to me was how much stuff they had at their school. They went to pick up their things from school and Shari said all their stuff took up an entire table. I'm guessing that they probably all hoard stuff at school because Ruby doesn't let them keep anything at home. They had water bottles, notebooks, clothes, binders, folders, lunch boxes, snacks, etc. It looked like Christmas with all that stuff they had. I can just imagine Ruby's face behind the camera, seeing her kids actually having things. I'm guessing its all going in the trash off camera.
Oh, I have no doubt a lot of the stuff is going to be trashed, especially most of the stuff Russell's teacher gave him. Can't allow your kid to have a bit of happiness, Ruby, because that makes them selfish and ungrateful!.

Shari's immature behavior during the Rubik's Cube competitions with her siblings annoyed me so much. She's going to have a tough go of it when she's out in the real world.

Not long ago, (maybe couple days ago or so) Chad was wearing a nice new-looking back-back in their Instagram stories. (They were sitting on the field).

Coincidence... I don't think so :D

Shari's not going out in the real world. She will go to BYU with like-minded people, get married at 18 and pop out tons of kids. They don't live in the real world.

I have been watching old vlogs and I just came across one where Chad writes a "contract" asking if the kids can buy themselves a Wii. He is obviously asking for it because the Xbox was locked up for being not "family friendly". Ruby won't agree to allow them to get the Wii, but suggests they sell the Xbox since "they don't use it". Chad is pissed and says it is because she won't let them use it.

The one upside to all this is that the kids are finally being fed. Unfortunately she keeps showing pizza, ice cream and loads of fast food. She can't understand that a good parent would provide nutritious well balanced meals. They really do need a parenting class to undo the Griffiths family damage.

Speaking of dysfunctional Griffiths, why don't I remember this creepy video of the Grandma Griff naked in the bath with her Dad washing his back!? I know I have been accused of being closed minded about parents having naked contact with kids, especially when they film it, but this is just so off to me. Also, I just learned that when Grandma Griff was little her parents would vacation without the kids and just leave them a car to get around.....none were old enough to have a license. She justified it by saying it was Idaho. If Utah is a huge step up, I can't imagine how anyone in Idaho survived their childhood.

There are so many old vlogs that prove she treats her kids like her employees.

I watched one the other day where she was showing the clothes inside Chad’s drawers. She made a comment about how he has a few plain white shirts because when they are doing sponsored content, they have to make sure not to wear any other brand. It was a subtle yet bothersome remark. She controls every aspect of their lives. Imagine being a kid and your mom makes you put on a plain shirt because she’s filming you for a brand deal, but doesn’t even let you sleep in a bed.

Absolutely! When Shari was giving the reveal of her closet, she pointed out a stack of pajamas, flat out said, "I don't wear pajamas, but mom said to keep some so I have nice was to wear for vlogs." That would be like me telling my teens for Christmas photos, "I know you don't wear pajama sets, but you are going to wear this specific set for family photos." She controls every aspect of their lives. What gets me, they are not allowed to keep things that they want, Ruby says there is no room, but she makes them hold on to something they say they do not use, so she can use it for vlogs. She is one sick cookie!

We've seen on multiple occasions Ruby throwing away her kids artwork, clothes, toys and things they are still using. Just because SHE needs to be a minimalist. It's so annoying to me.

Why wouldn't you keep your kids artwork that they probably spent ages doing? Why can't they decide what they want to keep and what they don't want to keep?

Bonnie does the same. She's making Olivia keep all her baby dolls and old toys in her closet for no reason apart from the fact that SHE wants to keep them. Olivia clearly doesn't want them.

Another thing about Ruby is, her kids rooms in their old house were all really bare. No personalisation at all. Nothing on the walls, no artwork. Their bedding was simple and the same in all rooms.
I guess she was pushing the fact that they were her rooms and her kids were just borrowing them.

Oh dear, the bathtub where the child is washing dad's back scene. Do you think he had a bathing suit on? I must be closed minded too.
This family seems to ignore risks and must have some luck they survive. Utah is seeing COVID cases going up so they all should be careful However, I doubt they will. I'm not seeing anyone wear masks?

I’ve been rewatching some of their videos and something that constantly happens and bothers me is how Ruby disciplines the kids in front of each other. Especially in front of Shari. Most of the the kids are too young to probably ever remember seeing Shari get in trouble and now every time they do something wrong not only does their mom discipline them but you have Shari throwing them under the bus and making them feel even worse for usually minor mistakes.

I have an 8 year age gap with my sister and my parents never disciplined me in front of her. Solely because when I was 8 and she was 16 she would have laid into me about whatever I had done because it had been years since she had made a mistake like I had.

Shari is not completely responsible for her behavior but she absolutely acts like her siblings answer to her and that she has never been in trouble or made a mistake in her entire life. She’s in for a rude awakening when she moves out and realizes her peers aren’t going to just listen to her because she told them what to do and thinks she’s in charge of everyone. I can see her having major issues with her first roommate because unlike sharing with her little sister, she won’t be able to call all the shots and expect her roommate to just go along with it. She also won’t be able to call it her room and say her roommate just sleeps there like she did with Abby.

This assumes her first "roommate" won't be a husband right when she gets tossed out at 18. The women in this family tend to choose men that are happy to go along with their little regimes, and Sheri seems perfectly primed to fall right in line.

I think it goes back to the same attitude Ruby's mother has (saying things are "too good for children"), and ultimately back to their religion. Children are a religious duty, and aren't fully people deserving of nice things until they can earn them themselves as adults, ironically since the children earn all of Ruby's income.
