Re: JessFam: Quarantine Jump House Queen | Part 141
I'd be pretty pissed if I chose a layout with an in law suite and then they didn't end up moving in. I guess they could use that space for guests, though. They could actually give that area to Tommy and Caiden. And then what is supposed to be their room could be like a den or something.

Re: JessFam: Quarantine Jump House Queen | Part 141
I wonder if Mimi ever actually saw the plans before agreeing to move in. She seems fairly gullible when it comes to Jess. Maybe Jess made it sound like they would really have a full apartment set up and be able to have their own space. But then as the house was built they realized the truth and that’s why they decided to distance themselves from the house. Or if her husband refused (I know Jess calls her bio-dad papa, what is Mimi’s husband called?) to move in to that tiny space. Or even if the few months living with them leading up to the move was unbearable so they bowed out, but couldn’t fully put their foot down that they aren’t moving in.TopazBlues wrote:I'd be pretty pissed if I chose a layout with an in law suite and then they didn't end up moving in. Re: JessFam: Quarantine Jump House Queen | Part 141
I don't think Poppy seemed amused when he was living there with them in those short few months. And even if Mimi got a job closer to elk grove, poppy would probably be losing some clients with being an exterminator. I do wonder why they sold just to buy another home in Modesto, smaller or not. So maybe it wasn't until they lived with Jess they realized it was a bad idea.

Re: JessFam: Quarantine Jump House Queen | Part 141
I certainly wouldn't have liked it if I were them. Their space is separate, but still on the main floor, correct? So it isn't really a quiet area when the kids are running around the house and screaming. They'll still be able to hear them. I used to live in a home with an in law suite and it had a full kitchen and was separated by a whole hallway. I'm not sure if that's typical, though. I couldn't tell much from her house tour video, but she said it had a kitchenette but I just saw a random sink in a counter. That seems pretty lame lolangelfire89 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 8:01 pmI wonder if Mimi ever actually saw the plans before agreeing to move in. She seems fairly gullible when it comes to Jess. Re: JessFam: Quarantine Jump House Queen | Part 141
That's how a real in laws suite is, there is also a separate entrance in all I've seen. I used to live in a home with an in law suite and it was basically a studio apartment (stove, fridge, separate entrance). We did share laundry, which Jess laundry room is upstairs so that to would be annoying. What those rooms look like was just a guest bedroom/suite not something for permanent residence. Mimi might not mind she has the energy to deal with it but its obvious those kids would have no boundaries about Mimi & Poppys rooms and maybe they realized that.TopazBlues wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 8:35 pmI certainly wouldn't have liked it if I were them. Re: JessFam: Quarantine Jump House Queen | Part 141
Lol it's so bad. They should've made the master bedroom downstairs instead of the section for Mimi. That would give space for more rooms/bathrooms upstairs. Also instead of having that patio section that area could've been pushed out and all that space used for a big living room.

How long do we think until Lilia moves in the the 'suite'?

Yes,that en suite is certainly nothing like an apt. They could put a counter top microwave, toaster over, and maybe a hot plate or coffee pot on the counter, but there's no full stove, oven or fridge. They could get a mini fridge and use one of Jessss's double ovens, though.
Looks more like a weekend/holiday or summer spot for sure.
I'm guessing mimi will go camping a lot though, and jesssfam will tag along for a lot of them

Re: JessFam: Quarantine Jump House Queen | Part 141
I bet it's less than one. As soon as they realise that Mimi isn't going to live there every weekend they'll 100% give Lilia that area.

Re: JessFam: Quarantine Jump House Queen | Part 141
that's being generous. either she'll move in there "because she needs to get ready for the day in a house full of boys" or Messica will take it over and turn it into her new enclosed office "because a quiet space is required to edit" and Alpine will move his computer from the master closet to the mother in law suite, bc he needs to game in peace and be an earshot away from a refrigerator.
Caden and Tommy will get Lilia's old room upstairs (you know, the smallest room bc only one person is in it!) before getting that mother in law suite.
given that Caden and Tommy's bedroom is that downstairs bonus room by the front door, there is no way she was ever going to go through with having the twins split up with a Skube boy and have one of her biological kids be in that downstairs room. actually now that I think about it she would shove Kyson and whatever Skube boy downstairs
I still can't get over the size of that loft area. can't wait for the screeches emitting from Kaden's mouth echoing throughout the house.

I wouldn’t feel comfortable having everyone sleeping upstairs except 2 young kids right by the front door.

Nor me - what if one of them gets up and unlocks the door and goes out middle of the night? No one would notice. Or if they get broken into. Or a fire. Sounds reaching but so many scenarios could happen.

Re: JessFam: Quarantine Jump House Queen | Part 141
Okay! That makes a lot more sense to me lol. That's what I thought, but I was kind of wondering. That's how the home I lived in was, as well.. The in law suite had two entrances of its own and the only thing that was shared was the laundry, which was in the basement. And I agree, they won't respect boundaries if they even try to implement them. In addition, those quick, "custom" builds are put up so fast and often with the cheapest materials. I'm willing to bet sound goes right through the walls. I like the house, in general. It looks pretty nice. But I'm really not a fan of that "in law suite" and the layout of the home just doesn't seem practical for them. But I guess we will seeMiloandMax1 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 28, 2020 8:41 pmThat's how a real in laws suite is, there is also a separate entrance in all I've seen. She must know those kids are screaming banshees because it was shown, when the house was half-built, that there were fiberglass insulation pads in ALL the inner walls, between the 2x4s. That would be a costly added expense.

Re: JessFam: Quarantine Jump House Queen | Part 141
Honestly some of these switch ups could work. Have the bedroom of the suite be for either T&C or Lilia. Make the main room of the suite a gaming room for Chris. Lilia or T&C in one room, twins in another and Landen & Addie in the third upstairs. That downstairs room could either be an office or guest room. Then if Mimi & Poppy do decide to come visit, they could stay in the suite or that guest room if they’re only there for a weekend.webby wrote:that's being generous. either she'll move in there "because she needs to get ready for the day in a house full of boys" or Messica will take it over and turn it into her new enclosed office "because a quiet space is required to edit" and Alpine will move his computer from the master closet to the mother in law suite, bc he needs to game in peace and be an earshot away from a refrigerator.

They actually have plenty of room but
Putting aside all that space for just Mimi and Poppy who won’t even be there all that often is dumb.

Man, they are so close to the neighbors house. They probably will wake up in the morning and ask them what’s for breakfast!

Regarding Mimi and Glenn? moving with them, Jess reply to a comment yesterday saying it's not temporary, they are planning on living there for many years.
So maybe they will move there permanently when Mimi gets a job in the area?
