I've noticed her calling the other kids "the kids" too and it always made me uncomfortable. The acting like she's also their parent makes me cringe in the worst way.

When Ruby was talking about her airpods... how the dog ate one, and the other wasn't charged.. I was wondering. How long do y'all think it'll be before she buys herself a new pair, or she gets a new pair? Whereas... if it was the kids, they would have to suffer for letting the dog destroy something so expensive. I give it less than 3 months.

Right? It's so weird. I can't imagine my oldest sister referring to the rest of us siblings as "the kids".nesland300 wrote:I've noticed her calling the other kids "the kids" too and it always made me uncomfortable. The acting like she's also their parent makes me cringe in the worst way.

I had two teenage half-sisters when I was 4-5 years old and I don't ever recall them calling my younger sister and I "the kids".lmmomSD wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 8:13 pmRight? It's so weird. I have a sibling like Shari, and it's honestly exhausting. Being told what to do by your mom and dad is one thing, but having someone closer to your age bossing you around is just straight up annoying and it pisses the younger siblings off. I'm honestly impressed with how the younger siblings have calmly just dealt with Shari's stuck up ways for so long without exploding. And I really don't get the constant need that certain older siblings have to constantly lecture and boss around their younger siblings, like good for them they are older (but apparently just because they are older they are automatically entitled to respect and that way of distorted thinking is wrong.) You earn respect by giving out respect, it's literally a lesson taught to first graders and it's something I've seen that a lot of older siblings still don't understand.lmmomSD wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 8:13 pmRight? Interestingly, I have a brother super close in age to me and then we have a younger brother about 7-8 years younger than us. The youngest always called us older two “the kids”. It drove me absolutely nuts! I think he did it because he fell into that baby of the family roll and it was a way to separate himself from us more. There was a sort of us verses him dynamic because it seemed like he was favored because of his age. I can see the same thing with Shari, she creates this me vs. them vibe and further distances herself from the rest of the siblings...showing not only is she different in age, she’s also different in that she’s better, specialer, and more favored.Josette wrote:I had two teenage half-sisters when I was 4-5 years old and I don't ever recall them calling my younger sister and I "the kids".lmmomSD wrote: ↑Wed Jul 08, 2020 8:13 pmRight? I had to watch the vlog. Did she clean in her clothes after she showered or am I stupid?nesland300 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 07, 2020 8:18 pmIt's all about the appearance. So, yeah, no doubt they use the towels they use for their body for wiping the bathroom. Wants to be a clean freak but has birds all over her house, meaning bird poop everywhere.
I can't stop laughing, ha ha ha!
I've never in my live seen anyone prepare house cleaning after they've showered and put on nice clothes.
How does that work, help me understand someone?

LOL, if you are stupid for that reason, so am I.......it must be the norm in that family too, cause Chad had just gotten a shower when she summonsed for him to come help clean the garage, imagine the dust and dirt out there.Namm wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 4:37 amI had to watch the vlog. I have a shari for an older brother (in fact he bosses me around more than my parents). My advice to the kids? call her on it, when she starts acting like a mom, call her second mom. The only way for you to stay sane is to call it out, otherwise you just get stepped on.

Anyone else catch Chad throwing in that comment about Ruby getting kicked by the horse at 3:37?
Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
So apparently on insta Shari got a new haircut and dyed it too. I wonder if she had to pay for it herself or whether or not Ruby gladly paid for her to get it done. Oh who am I kidding? We all know if any one of these kids asked to get something done to their hair (ahem* cough* cough* CHAD) that kid would have to pay for it themself. But if precious Shari asks for something, even if she asked for someone's head on a platter (not saying that she would but if she did), Ruby would be happy to get it for her.
Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
I feel as though Ruby should just stop complaining about any of the girls who decide to borrow her clothing. First, these girls probably were forced to get rid of a ton of their clothes when they moved into the new house to support Ruby's "minimalistic" ways while Ruby was allowed to keep whatever the hell she wanted, including several pairs of the same skirts/jeans in different colors. Also Julie borrowed Ruby's black jeans, which is something very simple that Ruby should've gotten Julie her own pair of in the first place.

I'm really happy that Abbey is standing up for herself and refusing to do something that she is uncomfortable with. I always hated it when my parents forced me to do something "for the camera" specifically when we were on vacation. I can't remember when but I remember something like this happening before. Ruby is trying to get Abbey to do something solely so that Ruby can film it and make money off of it and Abbey refuses to do it, I honestly have always admired that about Abbey. She's pretty brave in my opinion when she refuses to put up with Ruby's crap.

I'm not American, so I don't know what the numbers on Shari's insta story mean, but just be warned that Shari hasn't quit YouTube. She's posting a reaction video to her test scores soon.

Where is Kevin at in today's vlog? Its summer and he's probably not too busy with work (because coronavirus is still a thing, whether this family believes in it or not). Just goes to show more of his absentee parenting style, even when he has the chance to be there, he refuses to come along or show up unless there is absolutely no way of avoiding it. Maybe he just doesn't want to be around Ruby (which okay fine that's understandable) but what about your kids Kevin?? Think about how they must feel with their father barely around. If my family ever did a little trip to go visit horses (or any fun summer activity) we did it as a family with ALL of us involved.

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
Today's vlog must be an example of what it is like when one of the kids says no to doing something for the camera. How many times did Ruby try to get a different answer from Abby, good grief, just give it up, she said NO!
Ruby's comment to Shari about why isn't she more of an animal lover if she loved Little House on the Prairie so much? WTF, what does that have to do with being an animal lover?
Ruby saying to Chad that if he had a horse the girls would be line up to date him. He's not allowed to have electronics, driver's permit, a door, a bed, but since he is nearing the age of 16, we gotta start prompting him to date.
Ruby to Julie,"my jeans fit you." Well, duh, Ruby, she's wearing them. I'd be willing to bet that was just for the vlog, can't imagine any of those kids taking from Ruby without asking permission.
Chad had it right saying the horse wasn't going to eat grass at all with Ruby, she doesn't let her kids eat enough, why would she allow a horse to.

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
Re: "The kids" - I totally get why Shari does this. She is at least as much a parent to them as Ruby (particularly to Eve, who seemed heard ago to have been assigned to her). Probably a million times, Shari has been told to "tell the kids this" or "make the kids do that." I really think it's a learned speech pattern rather than an adopted seniority. For context, I'm the oldest out of 3 in a sibling group, separated by 7 and 10 years from the others. Often heard this kind of language essentially separating me and making me a caretaker from the time the later kids were born, and particularly when the youngest came about. I would say I was "parentized" or whatever more so than Shari because of specific situations in our family's life, but Shari has so many younger kids to contend with. Not to say that it couldn't have gone to her head a bit, but I think most kids, given a choice, and given normal parents who provided all that was needed to each child, would not choose to be selected as a caregiver for people who are merely siblings and not their own children. It makes for a lot of problems that outweigh any supposed benefits that one might seem to incur.

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
So Ruby goes with all six kids on a fun summer outing and Kevin's not there? I'm sure that the kids are kind of used to his absent ways, but I know it has got to still bother them. I still keep remembering Russell saying that he wishes he could go to the gym with Kevin and how it shows so clearly Kevin never spends time with kids. It makes me so sad anytime he is around the kids, how they just clamor to be around him, laughing at his jokes and trying to get his attention. Especially Chad, Shari, and Russell, I can see how much they look up to him and how they want to be around him whenever he does happen to be home. He really can't take the time to go help his kids have some fun with horses? I've never liked him to begin with, but this vlog just made me boil. His indifference is almost more infuriating than Ruby's narcissism.
Also, I don't want to seem like I'm picking on Shari about everything she does, but I did kind of roll my eyes when she was trying to get on the horse. I feel like she tries to exaggerate things like that to get attention. Like when she was talking about riding the 4-wheelers and having her brake lights on the entire time. Either she brags endlessly about how smart she is or pretends she can't do things and puts on this big comedic show. No matter what she does she just wants to be in the spotlight and get constant attention. But seeing Kevin's absence and Ruby's craziness, it's no wonder she feels like she has to either brag or put on a show to get people to notice her.

What she is showing is the breakdown of scores. X% got a 5, 4, 3, etc for the different tests. It doesn't mean anything right now. It's just what percentage got each score out of the kids who took the test.emma2948 wrote:I'm not American, so I don't know what the numbers on Shari's insta story mean, but just be warned that Shari hasn't quit YouTube. She's just trying to ramp up interest in her "reaction video".

I wish the kids that liked riding the horses would get the chance to take riding lessons, but of course that probably won't happen. I loved it that Miss I am the best at everything had problems riding when it was her turn!!
I also thought it was funny when Ruby wouldn't stop to let the horse eat some grass that it snorted at her at the end!
I guess the YT manager gave the go ahead on Shari coming back to uploading vlogs again. Figure that's the reason she suddenly stopped-to give the controversy time to cool down. I'm sure that comments will be permanently disabled-looks like very limited comments is going to be the way the whole family is going to be on IG from now on.
