Guaranteed she got told the NG tube they are putting in is her fault. Because EVEN IF this is 100% reflux, kids with reflux don't normally end up needing NG tubes 4 days after their diagnosis.

But a baby with a CHD has a reduction in surgery survival if they are severely growth restricted. So they don't have a week or two to find a more gentle solution for Cassidy. Had Alex actually not starved her kid in exchange for her beauty sleep and desired breastfeeding journey, this could have been worked out BEFORE her baby ended up skin and bones.

Ugh so true. And it’s not like this happens overnight. Alex had time to see a pattern and make changes.

Trying to skew reality to produce the content Alex wanted for a YouTube channel could have possibly contributed to this poor baby’s failure to thrive. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—it’s such an unhealthy “career” path. These people need to get real jobs. (But Alex doesn’t deserve a license to practice nursing. She’s a whackjob.)

On one hand, I really don’t want to be unrealistically harsh on P&A. I am sure it feels so isolating and lonely to have a newborn baby in the NICU with a potentially deadly heart condition, during a pandemic. Cassidy can only have 1 parent there at a time and it seems to always be Alex. She doesn’t go home at night. They don’t trade off. They never send a grandparent or someone else. P&A don’t spend time together. Alex and the girls don’t spend time together. That is very straining on the family and on the marriage and on the individuals. The poor girls must feel absolutely abandoned. Good thing for Phil’s Pollyanna positive attitude, although I hope he is validating the girls’ feelings and not telling them they’re making Jesus sad for missing Mommy. The girls lives have changed so much in the last year— they lost their home, their friends, their church, their extended families, their climate, their usual “places,” etc. Then, they traveled around in a tin can with no other kids to play with. Then, the pandemic happened and they can’t go anywhere. Now their mom is away with her special bio baby. I truly feel so bad for what Kinsley and Callie must be feeling! Everything is so out of their control.

On the other hand, Alex’s weird sleep comments really baffle me! Someone mentioned that it must’ve been Phil who did all of the middle of the night feedings with the older two girls, and I agree that that is probably the case. With her being a former NICU nurse, she must know better. As crunchy and judgy as she is, I suspect there were probably times when she stood in her old NICU, silently judging exhausted new moms, thinking, “Bish, why are you complaining about being tired?! I’d give anything to be in your shoes!” That seems like a very Alex attitude to me. Well, here you go, Alex. Tell us how easy it is.

After all, it never seemed like Alex wanted the older girls. They were just placeholders. The comments she has made about adoption and infertility have always bothered me. I remember her going on and on in the past about how, “Adoption cures Empty arms, but not empty hearts.” What the fudge?

You sound conflicted with reconciling the difficulties she's going through, with the fact that we know she's awful and treated Kinsley and Callie like loan items. It sounds like what you are expressing are the differences in empathy and sympathy.

I have empathy for her, because I personally know how hard her predicament is because I've gone through something similar.

But just because I understand how she must be feeling right now, doesn't mean she deserves my sympathy. She's a horrible, judgemental person that would never give anyone else in her position any sympathy.

That's how I reconcile it. I get it, but I don't feel sorry for her.

Your last paragraph. She is risking not only her child but the whole hospital by leaving and getting food/drink from the carpark from her husband. Something that’s clearly been said isn’t approved.

In this situation (covid) you leave your baby to get food, shower and take a break - within the hospital building. The minute you step foot outside to socialise or get deliveries (carpark included) 24hr timer starts and you have to wait to be let back in again. Why is this such a problem for her?? Surely a hospital that size has sufficient canteen/cafe/food service provided?? Why cant she order her meals and snacks in advance.

Why didnt she have a grab bag of snacks? (Granola bars, bliss balls, biscuits, crisps, dried fruit, etc??) why did phil only drop her off a drink? What about ramen or creamy microwave pasta snacks, or microwave meals if shes concerned about not being fed. Its not that hard.

Any childrens ward hospital ive been in has a fridge with yoghurt, milk, bread, spreads, toaster, microwave, jug, hot drink supplies, cereals, cheese, ice cream and popsicles. Surely there’s something available for her to eat if she forgets to order dinner. They arent likely to starve a breastfeeding mother.

She really just cant help herself but to complain. What do you want alex?? Gift cards for whatever cafe/restaurants are at the hospital?? Come on, ask for them!

I don't disagree. She's a narcissist. She does what she wants. Rules don't apply to her. Of course the ward would have food and she used that as an excuse to leave the hospital against policy. But that still doesn't mean it isn't awful to be sitting in hospital all day. You're free to not empathise with her, but I do. I just don't care because it's her and she deserves it.

They also haven’t pumped out a vlog in a while. I guess the chickens are enough work for Phil.

Can anyone medical explain why parents have to wait 24 hours before they come back in if they leave the hospital?
I know it's for infection control but as I understand a lot of people with covid are asymptomatic or it can take up to 14 days for symptoms to appear.

It's generally because of the resources required to assess visitors. Thousands and thousands a day already need screening, they can't have the same people going in and out.

Their silence in the past day might also be explained by the hospital receiving many complaints about Alex leaving the hospital, neglect etc..... They might have told her she needs to stop filming on hospital grounds? They would reserve that right I imagine.

Or they didn't ask her that, but she realised that her parading on social media is getting her into trouble.

I don't begrudge her the help of the night nurse Lord knows my husband and I tag teamed those night feeds so that I could function during the day, and Alex doesn't have that option as the sole parent in the hospital. But she has this strong attitude of, "I have it worse than anyone else, and the rules don't apply to me."

I will never understand how she wasn't supplementing with formula sooner, or why she was giving her newborn cooking oils from the pantry. It quickly went from the "cardiologist's nutritionist" which sounded far-fetched, to " this nutritionist friend I have." I will never understand why she can't order food from the hospital room service within their operating hours, or why she doesn't have a stash of non-perishable food, or the option to raid the fridge. My hospital showed my husband how to access a small kitchenette down the hall.

Her little videos about grabbing a quick shower while the baby sleeps are so performative- any parent who is actually pressed for time would just do what needs to be done and get on with it, not take video of themselves explaining their situation to their Instagram followers. Yes, Alex, you're so pressed for time that you had to hop on social media and make a quick video about how you don't even have time to wash yourself.

She doesn't feel like the covid rules apply to her, so of course she's going to sneak away to meet her husband outside, and then go right back into a hospital with vulnerable children.

People are commenting that she looks like she has cleft palette. Surely that would t have been missed by the doctors,NICU staff?

Alex can not stop complaining, the NG tube isn’t a straight forward fix. Maybe that’s true but at least your child is getting proper nutrition. So that’s a positive. Alex is such a perfectionist, she isn’t happy unless everything goes her way, and she gets 75hrs of sleep.
