rulatows000 wrote: Wed Jul 15, 2020 8:21 am Was looking at Ruby's Instagram post about Russell's birthday where she said Chad made a shark cake for him. In the comments, Shari says, "That cake is what nightmares are made of. Demogorgon/Voldemort/Alaskan bull worm." Ruby replied, "I didn't dare eat a piece." Wow, those two are such jerks. Chad goes out of his way to make sure his brother has a shark cake for his birthday, because we know mom and dad won't lift a finger to do it, and there are his mom and sister just ripping on him. That kid just can't win - he's plays a prank on his brother and he gets his bed taken away for 7 months, he does something really nice and sweet for his brother and gets made fun of on social media. Shari, you can't even cook without contaminating all your cooking utensils and seasonings with raw chicken or without ruining your mother's expensive dutch oven. And Ruby if you can't be bothered to make your kid a birthday cake, then keep your mouth shut about how it looks when your teenage son does it. I thought Chad did a great job and it goes to show what a great big brother he is.
I was going to comment this exact same thing awhile ago when the post popped up but forgot about it. Either way, thanks for bringing it up. Ruby is an absolute loser, when the kids do something wrong, they get punished harshly, but when her kids treat each other with dignity and respect, she still finds a way to critisize them. And honestly with Shari's comment about what the cake looked like...
She needs to seriously fuck off and mind her own business, remember that Shari isn't exactly a perfect cake decorator herself, Abbey's cake wasn't perfect but the adults praised her for it (Ruby and Bonnie).
It's hard for me to imagine a life for Shari where she doesn't end up like her mother (this is just my own opinion, feel free to disagree). Because Shari and Ruby share a lot of nasty personality traits (they are both controlling, rude, always finding fault in others, always want to turn the conversation to make it about them
->narcissistic etc etc) it's scary

The Griffiths have the WEIRDEST relationship with money (among many, many other things). On her stories she says how it's fun for the kids to use their money for a soda pop. Not the weirdest instance, but it just reminds me of how fucking weird they are with kids and money. Like making it such a big deal for it to be SO FUN to get a dollar or a quarter from grandma, or fold up a dollar and keep it in their pocket, just really random stuff. Paid to find dead relatives in a graveyard, paid to do something funny for the adults' amusement. I don't know how to explain it well but those of you who have watched enough of these families probably have an idea of what I mean.

Going out on a limb here, but I have a theory: that whole family is so firmly entrenched in traditional gender roles that Shari baking a cake, even an imperfect one, gets praised, and Chad gets made fun of for making a cake for Russell. I wonder if Julie or Abby had made the cake, if they would have criticized it as much? Probably-- Ruby and Shari seem to like to gang up on the younger kids. But it's a thought.
Ruby needs to enforce some boundaries with Shari. Instead of laughing along with her when she is making fun of "the kids", she needs to step back and not participate.

Absolutely. I hate when people laugh at men for things like this or act like they're inherently useless at it in some way. Including when men themselves pretend to be useless at something so they don't have to do it. It discourages men from playing an equal part in things, especially cooking and cleaning. They are equally capable. Ruby should be encouraging all her kids in the new things they try, especially ones like this that show kindness to their siblings, instead of mocking them on a social media platform that the child incidentally has no access to and can't even defend himself. But she continues pitting them against each other as per usual.

That is a very good point you have made, they make fun of Chad, and he isn't even able to defend himself, he is unaware of what they are saying on social media (well, I'm sure he heard it in person, but). They are so disrespectful!

Ugh Ruby's Instagram story. "Haha I was going to wash the kids' laundry" (yeah right) "but it was already clean because I didn't bother to make sure they weren't wearing the same clothes every day! Lol it's okay they were playing in the water." I can't even fathom the lack of care about hygiene to just brush that off. What's worse is it wasn't her own kids.

Shari is really trying to build anticipation over her test scores video. Why does she think everyone will care so much about someone else's scores? She's really trying to set it up like she's failed them all so that when she gets 4s and 5s it looks even more impressive...

She says it should be out on Monday. For anyone who isn't familiar with the AP (Advanced Placement) test system, basically a 4 or a 5 is good and might get you credit for a class in college so you don't have to take it in college. 3 is pretty good too, maybe some schools accept a 3 for credit. A 2 or a 1 is considered bad. And I believe the scores are based off of how all the students who took the tests nationwide did - so on a curve, I suppose. I did all this 5 years or so ago but to my knowledge that much hasn't changed.

We see in today's vlog, Kevin does just go along with what Ruby rules. Yay, kids are going to get a foosball table. So kind of mom and dad to cover the full cost--it's the least they can do since kids earn all of the money for their trips and house renovations.

Shari is such a stick in the mud, sorry, she's on the verge of being an adult and she'll never change. If it's not her idea, or her want, then there's no need. I hope they remind her she had no interest in the foosball table. She'll secretly play it thinking it's something she may be better at than her siblings, then pout when she can't beat them, and make an excuse as to why she's not the best.

The measurement board makes another appearance today too, lol.

Hmmmm, we haven't heard Ruby preaching any of her therapist crap lately.

At almost 18 years old, I probably wouldn’t have cared much about getting a foosball table, but I wouldn’t have acted like it was completely beneath me to use one. It’s frustrating to watch Shari because she constantly tries to ruin things for her siblings. Of course the rest of them would be excited they’re not allowed to use electronics or have any friends it’s something they can all do and have fun with.

It's also like she's angry that Chad had a good idea, the siblings agree with him (and like him), and their parents listened and did something nice because of his initiative. No part of it was about Shari so she isn't interested and has to make fun of it the whole time - if it was her idea she'd have to boss everyone around to get them on board. And of course she's going to use it if it's there and everyone else is using it.

I've also noticed the lack of life coach nonsense! It's a nice break. Either it doesn't fit in with the fake-family image Ruby is currently going for, or her goldfish brain has already moved on from it.

Some good things came out of their blow up-the parents would not have paid the total cost for it had things not have happened! Oh the friends can come there and play with the family-yep, responding to what happened in May. I think that's why she laid off on the therapist stuff too because it was coming up in the response vlogs. Book hasn't been mentioned anymore either.

They are still affected by everything-views are still down. They used to never have under 200,000 views, and now it's unusual to see them over that mark. Plus the one thing I used to give them credit for is their commitment to a set upload schedule. Now it's whenever they want to which I think is a mistake.

Also notice how Chad came up with the idea but felt the need to get siblings on board before asking Ruby, as if he knew she would say no if it was just him. Same with getting a job. He made sure to convince Shari it was a good idea before telling Ruby.

It's so ridiculous that Chad needs to use Ruby's phone number on his job applications. So now every work-related text will have to go through Ruby? What the hell? GET HIM A DAMN PHONE.

He has a phone but ruby won't him use it. I'm surprised he isn't allowed to have his own phone for job applications. I guess he wanted a job because ruby won't give him any money for anything.

Ruby also ended up tagging Bonnie in the post. Probably because we all know neither of them gave a damn about the hygiene of their kids.

Seriously though, what if someone texts Chad asking if he can cover a shift, and Ruby doesn't see the text in time (or she simply decides not to show him - wouldn't shock me) Then what?? Chad didn't get a shift that he could've covered and gotten paid for. There are so many reasons Ruby might not show him a text like that.. eg.what if Ruby needs Chad there to exploit for a video that day and doesn't want him out of the house, then she could simply say no one called asking for their shift to be covered. Ruby is sneaky and devious and a control freak, I wouldn't put anything past her.

Chad turns 16 on Feb 2nd. I bet that he won't be getting a special birthday party, or any presents that he asked for for that matter.

I find it sad how Ruby didn't know how much all of the kids wanted a fooseball table. She just assumed that Chad was into it, and must've convinced the kids that it's something they all want.

Also, I'm so relieved that all the drama against them actually did something. Maybe the kids are being treated better (on and off camera) and we just don't know it. Even if it's not the reason we want (these kids deserve parents who honestly love them and are not just worried about their image online). At least the kids are getting some sort of better treatment. Hopefully it stays this way.

Since he came back from the camp it’s been really apparent to me that Chad is fully aware he’s the black sheep. It’s really sad. I suspect he maybe made the mistake of questioning Joseph’s Myth and that a lot of how Ruby treats him stems from that. It could explain the vague reasoning for sending him to the camp, the ban from electronics (too many unflattering facts about the church he might find) and his desire to get out of the “not Mormon, but ... yeah” school.
