I think it's been about a year since she stopped being an NICU nurse. I wouldn't be shocked if once the doctors started talking she went on eBay or Amazon and ordered tubes.Haulnarse wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 7:55 pmShes been out of nursing for how long?? Yes she can “technically” place a new tube, doesn’t mean she should. You have to check ph and acidity etc after each change to check its in the right place. shes a moron.131618 wrote:I just saw that. Ex NICU nurse or not, she’s not the treating doctor and she had no right to remove and replace the NG tube with another. Holy shit she is stupid.

Wait how do we know she replaced the tube herself? I have a son with a g tube and I replace it myself. A NG tube gets pulled a lot especially a wiggly baby. It will have to be replaced frequently I imagine so why is it a big deal?

I'm late to this thread because I stopped watching P+A on youtube. As soon as that baby was born we all said she looked sick, and of course she is. I honestly don't believe that the hospital would release a sick infant in that condition, I'm sure A must have signed her out, which makes ME sick. I am literally afraid Alex is going to kill that baby, how long until they start feeding her oil again when she doesn't gain weight?

I'm sure the Dr selected that size tube for a reason. It was big enough to get all the calories in she needed to supplement. Now Alex changing it means she won't be getting as much.
She should've at least consulted the Dr first

Phil and Alex: Struggling With Maternity After Laboring For Eternity | Part 10
I hate to be this person but this thread is becoming unbearable for me with all the newfound medical experts.
Parents who go home with kids with NG tubes are often taught how to replace them. Go watch Meet the Millers and their baby Jensen when he had an NG. It’s not a super difficult thing to do, besides the fact that’s it’s uncomfortable and the baby doesn’t enjoy it. But it really doesn’t take a lot and the assessment skills to ensure correct placement are really minimal (which is why they let parents do this at home). And notice the IV pump and pull in the videos, that stuff doesn’t just show up out of nowhere. A home care supply company gets you set up with all that and you typically get lots of extra tubes and essentials when you go home with this type of medical equipment. Alex said Cassie was gagging on her tube and doing better with the new one. So her feeds are potentially going a bit slower (we have no idea what set rate they are going at...they’re on a pump not to gravity so good chance it’s not effected at all) but she’s not gagging so potentially spitting up less feeds. Critical thinking tells me that sounds like a good thing. And signing a baby out AMA isn’t as easy as it sounds...if there was any concern for her health social workers and CPS would be involved before she was allowed to do that. There’s no evidence to indicate that. Believe it or not, the goal is to get babies OUT of the hospital, especially in a pandemic. If she was tolerating the tube feedings and gaining weight, that’s all the matters. Close follow up on an outpatient basis is nearly always preferred to inpatient treatment.
I’ll be the first to say I think her feeding Cassie the oil sounded crazy. But some of the assumptions/accusations here are sounding pretty out of control in my opinion. Essentially accusing her of trying to kill Cassidy? Seriously guys.

I do watch Meet the Millers, they are actually one of the only family vloggers I can stand right now. Yes they did routine changes but they didn't take it upon themselves to decide he needed a smaller tube. That isn't a decision a parent should be making. While I agree the getting baby out of the hospital is typically the best idea, she looks terrible again. Every time they showed her today she looked pale and lethargic just as she did before she went into the hospital. I don't know that she signed her out AMA but I do think she would be better off in the hospital because we've already seen Alex has no desire to follow doctors orders. I don't think she's actively trying to kill her but she's made some seriously stupid decisions.Tiger27 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 12:41 am I hate to be this person but this thread is becoming unbearable for me with all the newfound medical experts.

I wasn’t actually commenting on the NG tube with my post. I was more concerned that she always has a dummy/pacifier in her mouth. As a breastfeeding peer supporter, this rings bells for me, as a dummy can mask feeding cues. I’d a baby is not gaining weight while being breastfed, we always kindly suggest parents stop using a dummy, as they will find that the baby is brought to the breast more often, which will help the milk supply increase and the baby is likely to gain more weight.
I am not saying that you cannot use a dummy and breastfeed. If a baby is getting adequate nutrition, there is obviously no reason to stop using it if that is what the parents wish. Also, a dummy can be used as a non nutritive device for some babies, to help develop their suck. However, it is a possible area that can be addressed with inadequate weight gain from breastfeeding.
I also noted that Cassidy was seated upright in a high chair with no support. She is far too young for this. At her age, she will be unable to support her head independently. Just seems really odd to me that she’s in that chair. Can anyone enlighten me as to why?

Using critical thinking skills,it makes sense that a smaller feed tube would be going at a slower rate.
I agree that Alex should not have changed it w/out consulting the Dr first

You do it yourself? We had a nurse come over to do it. The NICU will often assign a company to come into your home to weigh and change any materials. Our LO was on an NG tub and oxygen. I had more issues with the oxygen cannula but I’m shocked a nurse doesn’t come to your homenicolefrost wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 11:07 pm Wait how do we know she replaced the tube herself? It almost seems like she wants to skip this stage all together. Like magically her baby will be 7/8 months old or something?Elliecat wrote: ↑Wed Jul 22, 2020 1:46 am I wasn’t actually commenting on the NG tube with my post. When I saw the insta story I was shocked too about the smaller tube. I'm glad others were just as shocked as me but, thinking about it, could he have meant smaller in length rather than in diameter?

I think he said she was gagging on it, so that implies the diameter. But, at this point, who knows?!FlowersTar 68 wrote:When I saw the insta story I was shocked too about the smaller tube. Re: Phil and Alex: Struggling With Maternity After Laboring For Eternity | Part 10
I think they are trying to keep her upright whilst feeding, as she has trouble with reflux. However at this early stage they should be holding her upright, that seat is way too early for her to use. I don’t care if it takes too long, if it’s inconvenient. This is your child that is malnourished, you have to stop everything else and help this baby! If Alex has to pump, then Phil could hold her, I don’t care. That baby is tossed aside whilst she’s feeding, I don’t understand the skewed logic they are applying here: they say BF is best () but somehow it’s okay to ignore that baby throughout her feeding. BF is not only good for the nourishment from your body, but for the closeness and comfort and for the baby being held close to the mothers body. This can also be achieved by bottle feeding. But you have to slow the fuck down, and look into your babies eyes, give her your time, can’t just be scrolling on IG (hm hm Jordan Page! ) or propping the bottles. Or lay the baby on the bed all by herself and walk away. Sit down on the sofa. That’s so stupid of them. Yes, it’s exhausting, but guess what?! It’s meant to be. you moved heaven and earth to have this child, now you have to do it all.

And as someone who has a child with sma—no we absolutely weren’t allowed to touch an NG tube. Could it depend on condition of said child? Yes absolutely it could. But a nurse is fully covered under Obamacare. You MAY have to pay a copay but we had a daily nurse come in.
I think reality is when you have someone like Phil and Alex exploiting their children on YouTube you WILL have opinions. Especially a woman who was such an unhappy person unless she was pregnant. If you are so unhappy not having a bio child than there’s something mentally fucking wrong with you

The “she’s a narcissist and he’s a pussywhipped enabler who is defenseless against her.” Theme is common across a lot of these boards (Phil and Alex, Keren and Khoa, Ellie and Jared, Aaryn and Nick).
Do you think it is the type of personality that is drawn to Youtube?
The type of personality that youtube fans are drawn towards watching/making famous?
The result of being on YouTube long enough it changes you into this?
Implicit bias we have about people who share their personal lives so publicly?
