I would consider her critically ill as well.
Why do you think she's not?
Critically ill babies aren’t at home with mum and dad. She has a known heart condition that is being managed.
She’s not on deaths door and

Ugh Alex just irritates the shit out of me.
I get that she feels robbed of the perfect experience but her inability to just let it go and act like a grown up is just so frustrating.
This women really thinks she is going to adequately homeschool her kids when she can’t even keep on top of laundry? Don’t get me wrong you don’t have to be a neat freak to homeschool but having your shit together at least a little bit is in my eyes a requirement.

Another thing that really irks me in the current vlog is the 2 bears. I think it is awesome that she was given them but she could have done the gracious thing and accepted one and not 2.

Homeschooling will be a disaster with Alex as their teacher. Her spelling is atrocious, and her ideas about science are laughable at best.

I don’t know anything about NG tubes, so forgive my ignorance but it seems like a liability to allow Alex to place it in the hospital... Couldn’t some kind of responsibility fall on the hospital for allowing a random person who says they were a nicu nurse to place an NG tube and it was done wrong or some kind of complication occurred? When she went out to meet Phil and “the girls” she told Phil she placed it herself.

That's what child life is for, all the kids in the family. When my youngest was in the hospital for 3 days, the child life would give things to my oldest. They both got to take a trip to the toy closet and pick out one new toy. They were simple teddy bears, children's hospitals are donated industrial sized trash bags upon trash bags with stuffed animals. The NG tube was most likely a new one but had been dropped and couldn't be put into a child. Every surgery or ER trip my kids have ever had to do at a Children's hospital have come home with two stuffed animals, they always ask for a second for their sibling.

Did anyone else find it odd that she was referring to the NG tube day as “exciting”? I get that it was going to make things easier for the baby and that itself is a relief, but I would never think to describe it as “exciting”.

Also, that poor little baby’s face after the NG tube was in. She looked so sad and uncomfortable. I just wanted to pick her up and soothe her.

I'm sorry but why if your baby is struggling to gain weight would you ask to cut her fortifier? I'm sure they looked at her like she was out of her mind for asking that...

I really think in Alex's mind, helping Cassidy comes secondary to glorifying herself. Alex wanted to prove that she was such a natural, her maternal instinct alone would save Cassidy. "She's such a rockstar at breastfeeding! Only 2 weeks old and already sleeping in 4 hour stretches! Look at us doing skin-to-skin!"
When that failed tremendously, Alex moved on to proving herself as a nurse. "We'll use oil instead of formula to increase her calories because it's more natural. I'm positive her feeding issues are due to reflux rather than her heart defect. I replaced her NG tube myself because the one the hospital gave her was too large."
It's frightening, honestly. This baby is being used as a guinea pig so her mother can remain the star of the show.

As I’ve mentioned above, NG tubes are actually pretty easy to place, especially when the pt is too small to really fight it. It’s really common for parents (with zero medical background) of kids with chronic illnesses to be taught how to place them at home so you don’t have to go to the hospital every time the kids vomits itup or yanks it out (which depending on the kid could be a daily experience plus they have to be replaced on a regular basis anyways). Typically this would involve a class or teaching session on how to do it, then having the parents practice in real life, so the hospital staff knows they have the skills to successfully do it at home. I’m sure Alex was doing some sort of skills check off under supervision so could be approved to change them out at home herself. This is super typical for chronically ill kids. Parents are trained on all sorts of medical procedures, from trach changes, to running ventilators, to doing managing intravenous access. The tasky parts of nursing can be taught to pretty much anyone. Also, There’s a bunch of different ways to check placement of an NG tube as well. You aspirate some fluid to make sure it’s stomach contents (visually and with ph paper), push air in the tube and listen for the sound, and can get X-rays which is what they did with Cassie...you can see the bedside Xray machine leaving the room as they finish.

Maybe I'm alone in feeling this way, but I'm actually SHOCKED at how poorly Alex is caring for this child. I thought that she would be incredibly doting and nurturing to her one and only bio baby, but jeez..... I was wrong.

The sad thing is how damn excited she was in the last video. She was smiley and happy. I think it’s the happiest I have noticed her since before she was pregnant. I mean she willingly kissed Phil.

She thrives on being the centre of attention. And in the hospital alone Cassidy can’t talk. So all of the Drs and nurses attention is on her.

But only once she kissed him “voluntarily” the second one phil basically had to “force” 🤣 I think their marriage is done. I give them 3 years before they announce they Phil had a “mishap” and they are going “thru a tough season in life”

I don’t think there’s any passion between the two of them. I foresee a companionate marriage for their daughters’ (and Jesus’) sake. Divorce is a sin, so they’ll raise kids like they’re supposed to so they can go to heaven.

I can’t fathom a woman who Phil would have a “mishap” with. He’s not attractive, and with them both not having jobs and just living 24/7 on the farm, he wouldn’t really even have an excuse to go meet someone. So while he might cheat in another world, I don’t see it happening

Totally agree. I feel like they have love for each other, but not in a passionate way. They'll be content enough to push through life together. I don't think Phil would cheat. I actually think Alex would be more likely to, but she probably wouldn't either.
