Not only should she know as a NICU nurse but I have no doubt the doctors told them, they shouldn't let her go more than a couple of hours without eating. But she knows it at all and is going to do what she wants to do no matter who says she shouldn't....I still don't think they've ever accepted that she's not healthy baby...In the middle wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 3:36 pm My baby had an undiagnosed heart condition and she was SO much like Cassidy. Fed like a dream, slept like a dream etc, but failed to thrive. She ‘looked’ to be feeding great because she’d feed then drop off to sleep, seemingly content. Really it was sheer exhaustion from the effort it took to feed with her heart the way it was & at one month she was still under birth weight. You can’t always take your cues from baby, because sometimes unwell babies are a dream because they sleep so much & aren’t fussy.
Alex, being a NICU nurse, should know this.

It’s almost like she got her a feeding tube so they can all sleep through the night...
“I can’t cope with having to get up to feed this pesky child. Is there any way I can have a continuous feed pumped into her over night so I can get my beauty sleep?”

Re: Phil and Alex: Struggling With Maternity After Laboring For Eternity | Part 10
I'm assuming someone still needs to get up to turn on the pump and administer the feeding? I've never used one before, but I would assume that's the case? But at this point, is anyone actually surprised that Alex let's her failure to thrive cardiac baby continue to sleep through the night? I wouldn't care at all if baby was gaining weight. Our daughter slept through the night by 12 weeks because she was the appropriate weight and we got the go-ahead from our pediatrician at around 8 weeks. But we were getting up with her every 3 hours to feed before that point, and then slowly weaned her off night feeds. If baby isn't gaining weight appropriately, I'm going to seriously judge any parent who is encouraging their child to sleep through the night rather than waking to feed. She's not even 3 months old yet, right?
Re: Phil and Alex: Struggling With Maternity After Laboring For Eternity | Part 10
Let's be real here, it is Phil getting up at night to do the feedings not Alex. He did the night time feedings with the other two.

Alex posted on her stories that Cassidy didn't gain as much weight this week as they'd hoped. Shocking.
She admitted the other day that they're still doing a mixture of breastfeeding and bottle feeding. I'm sorry, wasn't the consensus at the hospital that breastfeeding was causing Cassidy to burn too many calories? Didn't Alex remind us at every turn that Cassidy was running a marathon every time she nursed? Wasn't that the whole damn point of the feeding tube?
This woman is insufferable. She flat out refuses to listen to medical experts and prioritizes her maternal fantasies over her child's well-being. YouTube needs to delete their channel.

And to piggy back on your comment - Alex said the other day she’s nursing C and estimating how much she’s getting. The reason the doctors want her to give her a bottle before utilizing the feeding tube is so they know exactly how much C is getting and to get the extra calories of the fortification. When C nurses she isn’t getting the extra calories and the amount C is getting when she nurses is obviously unknown. Alex doesn’t really seem to be taking this seriously. I wouldn’t be estimating ANYTHING if my baby was in C’s position. I would be counting for every calorie that baby got.ChickyChickyParmParm wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 11:18 am Alex posted on her stories that Cassidy didn't gain as much weight this week as they'd hoped. Re: Phil and Alex: Struggling With Maternity After Laboring For Eternity | Part 10
As much as I support breastfeeding, I would have stopped bf’n and turned to a high calorie formula by now. And give the rest as much as cassie would tolerate by her ng tube. As the saying goes... FED IS BEST! Orrrrrr fortify every single bottle of breast milk. I wouldn’t be trying to breast feed at this point.
The drs know more than stupid “nurse” Alex. But Alex is hung up in ONLY giving cassie breast milk. She probably isn’t even fortifying anymore.

Alex is going to kill her child over her ridiculous breastfeeding obsession. She is intentionally negligent.
THE FACT THAT SHE STILL DOES NOT HAVE A SCALE IS BEYOND TELLING. She has zero intention of following medical guidelines. There are plenty of affordable medical grade scales that will tell you exactly how much fluid your child has consumed and she should already be well versed in how to use them.
There’s no excuse for not knowing. She simply doesn’t want to know and doesn’t care. Her smug caption about Cass loves to sleep (especially at night) followed hours later by an update that she still isn’t gaining weight. NO SHIT, SHERLOCK. Any one of us could have told you that would be the case!
It’s disgusting, infuriating, and heartbreaking. Alex needs SERIOUS mental help. Her poor, poor children.

Someone is going to have to intervene at some point, right? she never should have been allowed to take her out of the hospital. I'm so angry.mamale wrote: ↑Mon Aug 10, 2020 5:18 pm Alex is going to kill her child over her ridiculous breastfeeding obsession. She is intentionally negligent.

Re: Phil and Alex: Struggling With Maternity After Laboring For Eternity | Part 10
So as a parent.... how does she just do this to her poor child??
Like, how does someone in their right mind just think this is ok for their own baby?
My son lost too much weight after he was born and my midwife made me feel horrible. I had been breastfeeding but when it had been 3 days and he was still losing i got in the car so fast and started supplementing. After that I was OBSESSED with making sure he was gaining. And my son doesn't have any health issues, it was just me and my milk and our breastfeeding journey wasn't great. But as soon as we started on formula the kid shot back up. Hes been perfect ever since, as in he has been in the 50th percentile and growing as he should.
And I say my story because, as parents, when it comes to our children I dont think it matters what is "cool" or "aesthetic" or INSTAGRAMMBLE. If we can do something to help our children thrive in any way, I'm sure we will do it. So then why the fuck is this idiot putting her child in harms way because BF IS BEST or because she wants to prove to herself she can maintain a breastfeeding journey with a baby who has heart problems and is clearly struggling with her health. Parents shouldn't live their lives based on keeping up with the Joneses or for social media.
It upsets me that she went through years of infertility and she finally has a beautiful family as well as a sweet BIO baby and this STILL isn't good enough for her. I am so sorry to say this but there are some people that aren't meant to be parents and she may be one of them. I would give anything to keep my baby safe and healthy and here is this women just blatantly exposing herself as an unfit parent.

Religious fundamentalism which is obsessed with women fulfilling their 'natural roles,' is a hell of a drug man. Alex and Phil seem nice but their we all know what their values probably are. The one video she puts what looks like 1/4 tea spoon's worth of formula in 2oz of breaskmilk. I know those huge formula scoops is 1 scoop per 2 oz. It looks like she's doing the bare minimum fortifying it.

If she’s going to do that she should atleast get a scale and do weighted feeds. It’s simple she’s a nurse she should know about those!Rottiemom wrote:And to piggy back on your comment - Alex said the other day she’s nursing C and estimating how much she’s getting. Re: Phil and Alex: Struggling With Maternity After Laboring For Eternity | Part 10
Shouldn't Alex be even more conscientious w her human baby?
Re: Phil and Alex: Struggling With Maternity After Laboring For Eternity | Part 10
She knows she burns too many calories and tells us 5000 times it's like she's running a marathon. They get her the feeding tube and she starts gaining. Then she starts pushing breastfeeding again....and guess what her weight slows down....what a shock. Also I agree that tiny bit of formula she put in her breastmilk is not enough and she flipping knows it! She keeps talking about when she gets her surgery but if she keeps screwing with things and slowing her weigh gain, it's going to delay her surgery. Also it annoyed me when she was trying to get her to stand and sit up....um she's not ready for either thing and forcing her to do it, is not beneficial. But we all know the unicorn baby has to do things early...

I’m not sure whether this is deliberately unsafe or just a perfect combination of factors to ensure the baby doesn’t interfere with Alex’s beauty sleep.

And she's also a narcissist. And I'm not just talking about possessing a couple of traits. It exists on a spectrum that includes a full blown mental health disorder. By definition, people with mental health disorders often act in a way that is shocking or bewildering to others, which is what many are expressing here.
The more people that tell Alex she is wrong or gives her advice, the more she pushes forward aggressively to defy them. Even if it means killing her daughter. Because that's what's at stake. Up to 5% of babies with Cassidy's condition won't survive surgery and the months to the follow. What Alex is doing now is increasing the odds of her mortality and making it more likely that she will be in that group that doesn't make it. And yet she doesn't care. This can't be normal....

I think Alex has some type of disorder with food . I mean look at how she is with the girls . She gives them “treats” here and there . Nothing wrong with not wanting to have your child hopped up on sugar all the time ,but I wonder if she is this way with Cassidy how is she with the other two girls .
