Russell just wants to please Ruby. If Ruby actually knew what she was doing it's possible he could catch up. I don't think he would throw himself on the floor laughing at school, so I hope that is not a reflection of what is to come with being stuck in the attic with mom.

Julie I was a little bit surprised, but feel she is very self conscious and is tired of her mom putting them in public then private school and now the whole world knows the family drama.

Abby has very much seemed to enjoy having friends in the past, but is siding with Julie bc it's the easy way to go.

Chad, not shocked at all. His parents want him to be a Jock and Ladie's Man. Chad has always seemed to struggle with attention issues since the early days of the vlog. Way too many rules at private school. I have hopes he will find some true friendships this year.

Shari of course chose to return for her senior year. She seemed nervous she would not be allowed due to cost.

While Ruby enjoys reading I am afraid she is not up to par for math and sciences. Ruby seems to suffer from the same attention issues Eve and Chad have. I see her becoming disillusioned by this whole Flowers in the Attic 2020 and giving up by Christmas.

Kevin...who honestly knows. I have never seen him do any type of school learning with those kids.
I agree with everything you said. I'm more surprised that there was no talk of the private school having an online component. I mean if it's already offered because of covid why not keep it going for kids who like what you learn in the private school why not continue offering it for kids that did genuinely like homeschool better?

Ruby and Kevin should honestly be ashamed of themselves. The fact that Kevin is an engineering prof. and spends absolutely no time trying to help the kids who are struggling with math (primarily Russel and Abby) is absolutely pathetic. If they end up being homeschooled this year, we all know how well that'll turn out. Ruby and Kevin will (maybe?) help the kids out for the first couple weeks, then eventually forget about them and have them figure it out on their own or they'll pay for a private tutor.

I also don't think it's the best idea to ask Russel and Eve (and maybe even Julie and Abbey) what kind of school they would like to do because they are a lot younger and very biased. If I was asked (even at age 13) what kind of school I want to go to, I probably would've said homeschool, just because I thought back then that homeschool is way easier then going to public school. Also, remember some of these kids don't have any friends, so that could be another factor as to why they are saying they want to homeschooled, (because they have no friends at real school and they don't want to go through that again). Also, getting to see Dwight and the birds all the time is not a very good reason to not go back to real school, but Ruby thinks it is. Same with "getting to ride horses" and doing "fun stuff." If any of these kids mentioned that they are scared of getting the virus (and that's why they don't want to go back to school, that's understandable) but none of the kids mentioned this being a reason. Instead they were very biased, (except for Abby) as the only reason why the kids want to stay is because they'll have more time for "fun stuff" and if Ruby is teaching, theyll probably only learn about the BOM and the fun stuff.

The private school wasn't brought up because according to Shari in one of her vlogs at the end of the school year, they were going to change schools. It may be the one entitled first day of summer party. Since she is a senior they are smartly leaving her at the private school.

Oh, I hope not! While you don't need to be super intelligent to homeschool your kids, you need to be smarter than Joel & Bonnie. We already know Olivia has school-related problems (Difficulties with math & spelling amongst other things) and that's with an actual teacher. I can only imagine how much worse they'll get with Bonnie homeschooling her.
Maybe this will give Bri something else to do :)

Russell is so behind, not just academically but emotionally too. His odd reactions to situations continue, I thought he grew out of that.
he is 9, at 9 years old children are doing fractions, decimals, and multiplication.
poor boy can even add and subtract.
and the fact that ruby and kevin had no idea he was so behind. They never are active in their schooling, I remember times where they were WEEKS behind in homework sheets. You should 100% be not only checking to see how your childs homework is going, if they are still young and in elementary you should be sitting down with them and helping them. ruby and kevin failed these kids, not the school.
abby never seems to have any firm opinions on anything, and it is very sad. This poor girl is always just in a "whatever" mood. She is going to grow up to be a pushover and that mixed with mormon culture is a recipe for disaster once she is made to marry a man. I can easily see her settling for whoever and living a very lonely life, at age 12 she already admitted to having no friends.
All these kids growing up with no bestfriends is heartbreaking, they are missing a very vital and important part of childhood for development of important relationships outside of the home.

I am glad that Ruby is asking all the kids what they want to do and giving them a choice... but we also don't know what's going on behind the scenes. Is she just asking to take their feedback into 'consideration' or is she going to make a definite decision based on what her kids want? Was there any other discussions behind the scenes of Ruby pushing them in one direction or the other? I agree with others on here that the four kids who wanted to homeschool didn't really seem to have very good reasons for wanting to. They seem to think it's going to be all fun and games or they just wanted to make Ruby happy, etc. Also, as someone who was homeschooled as a kid, the biggest question shouldn't be if it's what the kids want - it should be are the parents capable of providing quality homeschooling for the child? In my case, I was homeschooled by my mother who just barely, barely passed high school, received no college education, had an internet addiction, and was a religious fanatic. So, yeah, we were all taught to read the bible, but that was basically the extent of our entire education until high school when we enrolled in an online charter school.

Sure, Ruby's kids can say that they want homeschool, but is Ruby actually going to provide homeschool? Or is this 'homeschool' just going to be religious indoctrination and some swimming and making cookies at home? She might try, at first, to give the kids real homework, but then she's going to be too lazy to check on it, see if the kids are even doing it, or she won't want to help them do it. Then there will a vlog of her throwing away the mounds and mounds of unfinished homework that's been stockpiled because she hasn't felt like helping her kids.

Question for all,

Has anyone seen Jennifer or Chad wearing a face mask? Just curious because Grandma Griff is promoting Crayola's school mask pack in her snickerdoodle cookie vlog today.

I've never seen either of them wear a face mask in vlogs, but it's possible I missed it.

I think they listened their opinions and then the parents made the ultimate decision. That's how i perceived it.

Has anyone seen the Dad Challenge Podcast and SLO4N's collab that was released? Apparently they talk about legal issues regarding the whole 8 passengers drama that happened a while ago. I haven't watched it yet but it looks interesting.

Abby clearly shakes her head no to wanting to try on the pink jacket, next clip she has it on and looks like she is forced to shake her head yes to wearing to to football games.

It’s interesting that the kids continue to say they love school yet are choosing to home school

Has Ruby really taught her kids to think that 2.5 year old clothes are too old and need to be replaced? Maybe I’m the weird one but most of my closet is around 5 years old or so and it’s fine. Also it’s so painful to watch videos that are even partially staged and scripted, why doesn’t Ruby understand that? Ruby is clearly imposing her shopping addiction onto her girls, Shari is picking it right up but Abby seems really uncomfortable with her mom buying her so much stuff she doesn’t want.

It sure is interesting that she showed everyone’s closet except for Chad’s and her poor excuse was that the video was already getting too long...🤔🤔

Pretty funny isn't it? I thought the same thing watching her ad for face masks. What a freaking joke that whole family is, so fake!! Their whole family has been very relaxed about the recommendations, including being out and about with no mask, as we see from vlogs

She is so scary crazy looking with those wild eyes sometimes. Pretty blue color but she makes them crazy looking.

Shari is so annoying. I know siblings share clothes but the way she had to follow them room to room and taking what she wanted when she has a closet full just shows how selfish she is. Why not donate them? Also how dows Ruby not know that Abby doesn't like rompers if they pick out clothes together. Julie's closet looked sad. I know kids grow fast and Julie is tall but still.

Given Chad/Grandpa Griff's position in the church, you'd think he and his childrens' families would listen to their leader's request to wear face masks in public to defend against Covid-19.

Someone was asking about Utah homeschool requirements here. They're super lax. The parents have to file an affidavit saying that they are homeschooling. That's it. No required courses, no testing, no oversight. They can homeschool straight from the Book of Mormon if they want.

Where is Chad sleeping? His floor hasn't been fixed since the flood because Russell's floor is still damaged.

Why can't they just make sure that their kids have a fully furnished room?

Their video today is so weird to watch. Lol, I would've gotten my ass whooped as a kid if I was throwing a bunch of nice clothes on the floor and saying, I don't like this one, or that one, or this, and I'm past this. I could see if it was clothes that didn't fit, but Ruby was just acting like she's going to buy her girls all new wardrobes because they don't like the clothes they have. Those were really cute clothes and dresses they seemed to be getting rid of. Also, with five girls in that house and with Ruby, Shari, Abby, and Julie seemingly being able to share clothes, there's really no reason to be getting rid of anything. It reminds me of how weird I thought it was when Ruby was doing her closet video and she said something about how, in a month, if she decides she doesn't like her clothes she's going to donate all of it. What??? Why would you pick out and purchase a bunch of outfits and then decide in a month, "Nah, I don't like this, lets get rid of it."

Also, I've brought this up plenty of times - but Ruby, WHY DON"T YOU LET YOUR KIDS PICK OUT THEIR OWN CLOTHES????? Seriously, why does she always go online shopping and buying clothes from stores that Chad doesn't like. He's a fifteen year old boy, for Christ's sake, let him pick out what he wants to wear instead of mommy picking out his clothes for him online without letting him see or approve of what it is. She's literally just trying to satisfy her shopping addiction through her kids. She won't let them pick out their own clothes because she wants the thrill of shopping online for them and then making vlogs of her clothing hauls where suddenly they have hundreds and hundreds of packages of clothes. Then, of course, 90% of it doesn't fit them or they don't like it, so it all gets returned and a couple weeks later she's buying them all new clothes again.

This sounds like something an extremely privileged and wealthy family would say. I agree with you that even though some of the stuff in my closet is old, it still fits fine and looks new after a good wash. I just hope that at the very least Abby and Julie learn how to be just a bit more frugal and money conscious than Ruby and Shari. You kind of have to learn how to make the most of the money you earn once your out in the world on your own, (and if Ruby and Abby don't take the same path as their mother and they graduate college and get a job of their own) their gonna have to learn how to spend money wisely. I'm just really hoping that they take a different route overall.
