8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
This is a video super rich privileged youtubers seem to make all the time. The whole getting a "BRAND NEW WARDROBE" even though the wardrobe they have is already really nice and conpletely FULL with clothes for Fall/Winter/Spring/Summer. Shari clearly has gotten this shopping addiction from Ruby. I'm sorry but it is NOT a very good reason to get rid of a TON of clothes just cause you got "sick" of them. Most normal families would have their kids keep their clothes as long as they fit right and are still in good condition. This just seems to be a super obnoxious mentality that the Griffith girls have that they are (very unfortunately) passing on to their children, particularly their daughters.
Also, I feel like a big reason Shari has this big addiction to clothes is largely due to the fact that Ruby will buy whatever the hell Shari wants even if she doesn't need it (and Shari KNOWS this and uses it to her advantage). Meanwhile Chad struggles to get his hands on clothes he actually needs and likes. Honestly to me it looks like Shari doesn't need any more clothes, but she'll get them because she's the favourite and she takes advantage of that a lot.
Also, wouldn't it be smart of them to (huh, I don't know) maybe sell the private school uniforms that the kids no longer need?? I used to go to a school where they made us wear uniforms, and when I left that school to go to a public school for grades 11 and 12, I sold my old school uniform pieces to some kids still in that school and I made some good money. If they were really trying to be more frugal (THEY AREN'T) they wouldn't do this whole stupid video.
I don't know why Ruby still picks out her kids clothes when they so clearly hate what she gets them. It's just a huge waste of money, Ruby picks them out, the kids say they hate them, they give it away, then they have to buy new clothes that Ruby AGAIN picks out herself, and the whole cycle of money going down the drain continues. They don't have ANY money issues, that's just what Ruby says to make her viewers feel bad for her. If they really did, Ruby wouldn't be such an idiot when it came to buying clothes like this.
Also I agree with whoever said that it's quite convenient how Ruby cuts the vlog short when it comes to discussing Chad's closet. Ruby has made videos way longer than 13 minutes, she could've spent an extra 4 minutes discussing Chad's closet, but we all know she didn't discuss his closet because there is nothing to discuss, theres probably still barely any clothes left after the whole Anastazi drama when Ruby threw out all his clothes and refused to get him new ones. And since Chad is not rich enough to reimburse himself, he's gonna have to struggle this year with barely any clothes as it is.

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
I think it's not just an issue of Chad's lack of clothing, but his current sleeping conditions too. As another commenter mentioned, where is he sleeping while the basement is being taken care of post-flood? Is he back to sleeping on that too small bean bag chair again? Because that wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he was.emma2948 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 2:42 pm This is a video super rich privileged youtubers seem to make all the time. Funny... everyone had a full closet of clothes except Julie, and most of her clothes didn't fit her. And of course, we didn't see Chad's closet, because we all know it would be just as empty as Julie's. Who was surprised by that? Not me... and who was surprised that princess Shari had a closet bursting full of clothes and shoes... and still "I need more!" and took things her sisters were tossing out. smh Shari wouldn't even let Julie try on a pair of jeans that no longer fit her... she was going to cut them in to shorts. Uh, ok. If they don't fit you as jeans, they won't fit you as shorts either.. they looked very long and "skinny" and while Shari is not a big girl. those jeans looked a size or two too small for her.. not just too long.

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
Someone posted about 'Dad Challenge Podcast" and his video with Sloan about 8 passengers (and other topics). I expected to skip through most of it, but found myself listening to the whole hour. One of the most interesting things I got from these discussions, is that Ruby and Kevin hired Hollywood's most famous celebrity fixer as their lawyer. They are spending $1000/hr to use Oprah's lawyer to scare of tiny commentary channels on YouTube saying she doesn't make her daughter lunch. I hope they know that this just makes me even more curious about how much money they have, and how much more crap they are hiding. It is like buying a chainsaw to slice a hotdog.

I‘m watching Dr. Phil and this episode is about an entitled bratty teen. Dr Phil gave this advice to the mom that I found very interesting...he tells her to take away all of his privileges, like his phone, video games, etc. and leave him with what he needs, his own room, a bed, a pillow and a blanket, but according to Ruby a room and bed is a part of Chad’s privilege.

I think this makes a lot of sense. They certainly get exposure through these families. The church would have some interest in helping put out controversies that could potentially be connected back to them.Kattiness Everdeen wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 6:52 pm ETA: Do you think that they are under any protections of the Mormon church? Yeah, now my mind is trying to calculate all the possible reasons they would need to hide Bill Cosby/Charlie Sheen/Michael Jackson level secrets. We have one sister who can't stop talking about child sexual abuse and just ran away from her family/friends/community/life with her kids. A patriarch known for man-handling his young kids/grandkids, and was recently promoted to Bishop in the church. A teen boy who has been punished for more than a year for some mysterious unspeakable "misdeed". A mother under fire who is writing a book about how children aren't entitled to food, clothing, shelter, love or protection. And these are just the things they willingly tell the internet.nesland300 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 7:20 pmI think this makes a lot of sense. They certainly get exposure through these families. Not to mention this family makes the church millions of dollars. I suppose protecting the YouTube child exploitation industry could be reason enough for the church to get involved. Think of how many Mormon family vloggers are paying them tithing. Having "Mormon Bishop" in any article titles certainly could cause just as much damage to the church as well.

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
They've been in that house for how long now, and most of the kids still have their mattresses on the floor and no other furniture? Ruby's priorities are way messed up, back yard and master bath take priority. Heck even Ellie had her boys' rooms set up and furnished within a few days of moving into a rental (granted it was Ruby and Julie who orchestrated that effort).
The vlog on clothing was shameful, especially at a time when many families are out of work and having to make do with what you have. They are so wasteful. Something tells me most of Ruby's young followers do not shop at Anne Klein and JCrew, who is she selling to? I may be wrong. Ruby is such a controlling bitch. For gosh sake, give your teens a budget and let them research and select their own clothes. Ruby and Kevin are so firm on their children learning life lessons and being independent, but Ruby can't give up a simple thing like selecting clothes for her teens, how controlling can a mom be!
Ruby no need to buy clothes for Shari, go buy your kids some damn bookcases and nightstands and bed frames for their rooms. You were so dramatic about Chad's room flooding and what if he were in there sleeping. What have you done differently to ensure he and his belongings are safe?

The Mormon church has had a lot of controversy the last few years about the questions of a sexual nature bishops ask kids in interviews. After that the last thing they need is blowups about Mormon families mistreating children.Kattiness Everdeen wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 7:56 pmYeah, now my mind is trying to calculate all the possible reasons they would need to hide Bill Cosby/Charlie Sheen/Michael Jackson level secrets. As for how/why they would have involved a high profile lawyer, the church has metric shittons of money. If spending many thousands on an expensive lawyer to scare people away from lawsuits protects thei billions, it’s a good investment on their part.

Ok I have a Question. I thought Mormons did not drink coffee or tea bc of the Caffeine. But ALL the Griffith offspring and their kids drink POP! All the time! And not Caffeine Free pop either! Also...I'm from Kansas. We say pop. I know others use Soda or Coke. But you know what I mean. Anyway. It has always struck me that they are supposed to be so pious in avoiding Caffeine. When Ruby and Kevin were in the BVI recently the other Mormons bloggers drank pop too. It can carry as much or even a stronger punch then coffee. I drink pop myself so I am not a pop shamer. Lol. Just curious!

The Word of Wisdom specifically says "avoid hot drinks", which a lot of people thought to mean caffeine. When my high school bff was Mormon, she didn't drink caffeinated soda. But so many Mormons were breaking the rules and drinking soda anyway that they changed the rules. They even sell caffeinated soda at BYU.CognitiveDissonance wrote:Ok I have a Question. It's really dumb because soda has ZERO health benefits, and things like green tea are actually good for you. It's a weird rule.

I thought they could not drink a brewed drink, which is how they get away with soda. Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
I think you're really on to something here. This extended family is an absolute cash cow for the Mormon church (one of many that fuel the church's crazy fortune) but at the same time they are also a huge potential liability because, well, they're insane and don't hide it. That's really crazy about the lawyer they hired. Literally to go after gossip channels and tweens? That's embarrassing, leave it to Ruby and Kevin to use their fortune to shut people up who try to expose their legitimate neglect but can't (won't) provide their kids with furniture, or some of their kids with proper clothing.Kattiness Everdeen wrote: ↑Tue Aug 11, 2020 7:56 pmYeah, now my mind is trying to calculate all the possible reasons they would need to hide Bill Cosby/Charlie Sheen/Michael Jackson level secrets. On a different topic, to give Shari the benefit of the doubt just a little bit I am wondering if maybe her desire to sort of hoard clothes and things while her mom is still paying for them is because she is having some anxiety at the thought of being tossed out of the house for good and forced to be financially independent as an 18 year old very soon. I was neither thrown out nor cut off completely financially but when I was moving out I know I had a little bit of anxiety over those things, sort of like "I should get new clothes now while my mom will buy them so I don't need a whole new wardrobe when I have to pay for it myself." But Shari has always been ruthless about clothes so... I think it's also her mother's shopping addiction that she's starting to show too.

How do we know that they have hired high-end lawyers to take care of the shit storm? I had the impression that they hired just regular ones?

Re: 8 Passengers: Emotional Abuse Galore & Making Kids Sleep on The Floor | Part 17
I got my information from "The Dad Challenge" podcast, who had interviewed Sloan (SLO4N). Sloan and a few other commentary channels received cease and desist letters from Ruby's lawyers, and he talked about how their targeted group had their own lawyer look into the potential of fighting it since they were within their right on fair use, but they were advised to just drop it when he saw who they had hired. Josh from "The Dad Challenge" podcast was the one who revealed the lawyer's name on his subsequent video (and that Vanity Fair article), so the information is second hand and not from someone who was targeted by the law firm.

I found the latest vlog funny as Ruby got tested for COVID but I thought according to her covid was a hoax considering that she never wears a mask and never social distances either. I'm also surprised that she told everyone to stay home too as I thought she wouldn't care if other people got COVID or not. She is only doing the test for good publicity so that nothing will happen to her channel not because she wants to.

i’m disgusted with the portion size of that breakfast Ruby prepared for her kids - far too small!

So their kid can just leave the house and not tell their parents where they will be? Wow.
I can’t believe Ruby goes to get tested for COVID but doesn’t have a freaking mask on. How f-ing inconsiderate!! Her reaction to the nasal swab was beyond dramatic just like every other aspect of her life.

In her defense though.. that nasal swab isn’t a walk in the park. It’s extremely uncomfortable. I’m jealous of those who are able to do it without a reaction. I do feel like she got the test as a stunt like someone else previously mentioned.

I had a COVID test done a few months ago and it is not that bad. Ruby was incredibly over dramatic (no surprise). Mine was negative but it definitely scared me about the reality we live in. How can this family still not be social distancing and wearing masks? It’s so unbelievably irresponsible and truly highlights how uneducated and uninformed they really are.
